  • Today, we are on our own in the busy streets of Delhi, India. Our goal is to take you around on tuktuks to show you some of the most beautiful monuments in the city and of course to try some delicious Indian food as well. What is a day in India without naan bread right!
Book any hotel we stayed in while in India right here: www.davemani.com/india
If you prefer a guide to take you around on a similar tour, book it here: viator.tp.st/9Tcle3Gi
First stop Gurudwara Shri Bangla Sahib which is a beautiful Sikh temple in the heart of New Delhi. Through this visit we learned about one of the most generous and caring religion that take cares of anyone no matter who they are or what their believes are. Truly a wonderful experience.
We also made a quick stop to see the impressive architecture of Agrasen ki Baoli, a very quiet place perfect to escape the noise of the streets of Delhi.
Then Tracey found a Starbuck's at the Khan Market. This place was truly nice to walk through. A lot of nice shops and also a lot of international brand at a much better price than what you would normally expect. That being said, Khan Market is NOT your typical Indian style market, it looks more like something you would see in Europe.
After getting the recommendation from our food guide who took us around Delhi the day before, we stopped at Gulati restaurant, an award winning eatery for their famous butter chicken. It was by far the best butter chicken we ever had!
(Check out our street food tour vlog here: • Trying India's BEST ST... )
For our last historical side of the day, we spent some time at Qutb Minar, a minaret and "victory tower" that forms part of the Qutb complex, which lies at the site of Delhi’s oldest fortified city. A wonderful site rich in history that deserves a visit next time you are in India.
And to end our day, more INDIAN FOOD of course! A quick dinner at Saravana Bhavan in Connaught Place known as one of the best vegetarian restaurant in the city. We did like it but let's be honest here, it had NOTHING on the butter chicken and naan bread we've had for lunch.

Khan Market is actually one of the most expensive retail areas not just in India but in the entire world.
Average rent according to a Times of India study found average annual rents of 237 dollars for 1 sq ft of space.
So a small cafe with like 5 tables and 1000 sq ft area would have an yearly rent of 237000 dollars or 237k US dollars, So about a Million dollars every 4 years.

11:05 Qutub Minar was originlly Hindu structure. in the complex there are defaced idols of hindu deities. also the war scenes of Hindu epic Ramayana can be seen. carvings of deities, saints, human beings are completely prohibited in Islam. they could not even destroy the original Hindu temples properly.
It is a Sun Observatory that has a 25 inch tilt to observe the Dhruva Star (Pole Star) built by King Vikramaditya in 5th Century A.D. On 21st June you can not see any type of shadow from the Minar falling because of that tilt...and around the Stambha (Pillar) there were 27 Hindu + Jain constellations temples.
Qutub has 27 broken temple complex as well as 2000 year old VishnuStambh Iron Pillar - which has stood the test of time and not rusted at all.

2:10 Actually it's a religion of fighting Back. It was a religion that comes up when India was struggling under brutal Islamic rule, Two Sikh Gurus and two sons were tortured to death by Islamic rulers of Delhi that time.
while Buddhism was also wiped out of north India because of there non- violence nature( and the Islamic Turkish invaders having a special enmity towards Buddha since Buddha was there former God in central Asia before they converted to Islam so in morden day in museums, In Buddhist stupas you won't find a single buddha statue for that era ,which has it's head intact ) and Islam has a pretty dark history in India.
