Holy crap!! That staccato attack lead-in at 1:21 gave me goosebumps! What serious skill! Have I used enough explanation points to show my level of hype/awe yet?!‽
Amazing as always. Julia doesn't talk in her videos, but she doesn't need to. The groove and her musicianship talk for themselves and that's so much more powerful
Plot twist: she has a super whiny, irritating, high pitched voice. Disclaimer: I don’t know that and it’s highly unlikely but would definitely be a plot twist!
I’ve thought for a long time: it’s a massive compliment to her skill, technique, and artfulness that here we have an attractive young lady on TH-cam, and I’ve never seen a lecherous comment. It’s just a solid wall of praise to her musicianship! She’s the genuine article right here!
Everybody: Enthusiastically enjoying all of Julia's previous videos... Julia: "This isn't even my final form!" This was fucking phenomenal. You continue to improve upon every song that you cover!
Bass players have been screaming this for decades. In the studio and in live venues. Common saying by sound board operators in live clubs "bass should be felt and not heard". And when some bass player finally buys $2,000 worth of bass amp, and their own truck to haul it in, and fight the sound tech to not turn it down, people in the audience are amazed and say, "Wow! The bass sounded wonderful! I could finally hear it!" And keep in mind, with Hoolio's slap technique and bridge plucking position, the mid and high frequencies are accentuated. And that she's the mixer. If she were put on stage with a sound board operator who didn't know who she is, they'd bury her so hard you wouldn't know she was in the band.
@@PoorlyWrttenReviews You don't have to pump the low frequencies to mix the bass out front. A slight bump in the low mids, and a good treble boost will give you a nice present sound without overpowering the rest of the band. Have you ever listened to the Brothers Johnson? They were white hot in the late 70's to early 80's. Louis Johnson's bass was always mixed out front. Stomp was a #1 R&B *and* top 10 Billboard pop hit. Louis Johnson's bass was *the featured instrument* in the mix. My point is that it is more of the *PERSONAL PREFERENCES* and training of the sound person than actual difficulties mixing bass.
@@carpediemarts705 Nothing transcends it from "just music" to "an experience" better than when the bass starts reverberating in your chest at the height of a song. It's unreal.

This funk is seriously infectious. Anyone who knocks out the Bass line like that deserves all the respect. A good bass line MAKES music what it is. Good work!
Absolutely stunning! I said it long ago: You, my dear, have an endless future and innumerable opportunities ahead of you. Your overall talent is utterly jaw dropping and it's just a matter of when, not if, you fulfill your dreams. God bless and may only the best of luck follow you.

Your bass playing is beyond your age. I was transported to the 80's. In a club in Chicago, called the happy medium. Where i danced my young life away. Not many thing move me in life, but you have. Peace ✌
I had to listen to this multiple times just to soak in the goodness so I can survive another week Honestly the slapping got me on the edge of my seat like no joke I can't describe it but the bass just gives me the good kind of shivers and makes me just happy for some reason Is that just me being weird or-
I'll be honest. I haven't seen ALL of your videos. But every time I watch a new one, it's obvious how much you have improved, and this time is no different. As a guitar player myself ( 6 string ) , when we can hear the passion, the love of making music, through the music that is being played.... Don't ever let anybody try to take that from you. Thank you for sharing your talent. :: Bows as a sign of respect :: 😁

Thanks to your video, I can have a great day in a happy mood today!! Thank you always Julia, I'll always support you with everything you do 😊 Thanks a lot!! ❤️

My favorite of your work so far. What a delicate balance between complex technique and restraint. I can't fathom the fact that you reach this level of mastery in such young age.
Love watching you gain more popularity and sharing those gems with more people. You definitely earned this and so much more that is yet to come. Just don't push yourself too hard for the sake of YT. I'm sure you can handle pressure, but is way better when you let the groove come to you.
Immaculate playing. Someone else said it here and I just want to echo what they said: immaculate playing, articulation and sound mix. I love watching and hearing you play. I hope one day I can play like this.
I made a comment sometime ago about you standing and playing, still as precise as always I want to be like you when I grow up. You are a bass playing machine.🎸👍🏼
Those lower registrations just move in such a satisfying way. The perfect mix of leaving space, and playing the hell out of every note. Love this stuff.

What a performance!!! I'm lost for words... this is so amazing!!! 🎉 It won't take long anymore until Julia will hit the big stages of the world or record with Dua Lipa or Silk Sonic 😁
Holy Moly.... this girl can play anything. Also, she makes it better than the original. What ever musical celebrity gets her will be very grateful!!! Those are just facts!!!,❤️❤️❤️❤️👍😝
Your narrative arc in this one is really impressive. You're jumping from tacets to mid-solos in a breeze while still grooving an incredible backbone to the song's progression. Please more
i’ve been here since she had audacity running in the background, now there’s a whole setup 🥺🥺 julia i’m so thankful we get to witness u grow as an artist while we grow alongside u 💛💛💛 love from new york
Song just got added to my playlist. These artists ought to pay you to cover their songs -- a lot of us folks with some grey in our hair are discovering some great music through you.
Being able to slap that cleanly on a Sterling 5 string with their narrow string spacing is pretty impressive, as is everything else here as well of course 👍👍
There has to be a professional bassist in here somewhere. Is there a edict against funky bass in pop music or something? Julia knows her audience and delivers a bass forward mix because that's what we want. You knew it was about to get serious from the fact she's standing up. She's almost at full Bass Power. Amazing as always.
She’s over 9000
She's standing now, but by next year she'll be floating from the power of her bass skills.
By the time she reaches full power, you'd be dead before you even hear the B A S S line.
I’m half expecting super saiyan mode to kick in soon
Yes or that she'll be busting her way into the 5th dimension.
It takes time for a musician to learn that sometimes silence is music too. She understood this. This is perfection
Just watching you grow as a musician has been so entertaining and amazing.

these covers have taught me one thing: bass is chronically TOO QUIET in the mix.
Totally agree

Bass is mixed that way because of where it sits in the soundscape, the low frequencies can make the entire track feel muddied if mixed too loud

I have always loved bass but wow, this goes way beyond anything I've seen!
Watch out now she’s standing with the bass, it don’t get more serious then that!! As always she killed it! 😮
Haven't heard the original and I know there's no point now as these bass covers are always better than the originals.
Honestly, I think both the original and cover are equally great - just depends on which elements of the mix you want emphasized.
The original is so dry and generic after listening to this.
