Bobby was a genius of the couples dance form. On Lawrence Welk you can see how he put a lot of demand on his female partners. The product is somewhere at the crossroads of Corny and Cringe, but they are 99.9% flawless and 100% entertaining. I also enjoy his tapdance trios with Arthur Duncan and Jack Imel where it's obvious that he's following Duncan's choreography instead of being the star. Always the quintessential showman.
I remember listening to Calcutta on a black and white TV. It was perfect, just like watching war of the worlds. O how I wished I was that lad, watching TV with my grandparents.
When I was 15 my summer camp caretaker and his wife invited me to their camp cabin for dinner, they were ancient and sweet. I remember they sandwiched me between them on the sofa after dinner to watch Lawrence Welk. 1969. Never forget it.
He certainly wouldn't be a contestant. My thought: the pros do their dance, but the men don't tell the women that, at one point, one of them will disappear, and suddenly, Bobby Burgess will appear and dance with one of the pro ladies. It would make her day, and the audience would *love* it.
I don't care if folks wore horned rimmed glasses. America was a wonderful place where common sense was common. Look where we are today and ponder and process folks.
bobby boy introduced himself, ok, barbara wawa threw bobby some cudo's though. floor band 'lip snching' to audience that has korean, ww 2 memories and a few ww 1 even.
You can't but not love this song. A classic that will always be around. They don't make songs like this anymore
Bobby Burgess just celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Amazing even in 2021.

So terrific and nostalgic. Bobby is at his best and Barbara is so feminine and sweet - I love that big bow on her dress.
Barbara & Bobby were great dancers and continued to delight audiences whenever they performed.

Such a cool memory.

Not so "corny" anymore, is it? Just great talent.
I'm kind of surprised that nobody has dug up Bobby for Dancing with the Stars.
They need both both Bobby Burgess and Bobby Banas(dancer in Westside Story)

People have much more common sense today. We are more welcoming of everyone. Stop hating thy neighbors.

A typical 2023 comment
@@michaelfowler5266 An appropriate comment. You clearly resent the existence of nonwhite people.
