Nuclear power is one of the most efficient, clean, renewable energy sources in the world. Combined with hydroelectric, wind, and solar, those 4 sources could power the world. Completely due away with fuel combusting plants of all types. And developments even over the past decade have made them WAY safer. We should be pushing campaigns to build more nuclear power plants or upgrade existing ones. Due away with coal fired plants.
Facts. Dude, I live in an area primarily powered by nuclear and hydroelectric, some natural gas, a very tiny amount of wind, and all the solar I've seen is for street lights or on private housing roofs. My energy bill for my apartment, kept at 60F during this past summer - which reached 115F, was a mere $42/mo. Winter energy bills are $30/mo. Amazing how fast people get onboard for nuclear when they see an energy bill that low. My friend back where I used to live now hates me, because he's still paying something like $120/mo.
@@vex2space there is one, it’s called reprocessing, countries are just concerned about bomb manufacturing which is why it’s not overly popular en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reprocessing

Several thousand doesn't even come close....and how much land area does it take to produce with wind.....HUGE tracts of land. Not to mention the 10's of thousands of birds they kill, many endangered...OOPS.

the irony of this is the fact that nuclear energy counts as renewable energy and is honestly pretty good modern nuclear power plants have so many safety features to stop a nuclear meltdown and even if one dose happen it would contain the entire thing within the powerplant so the surrounding environment doesn't get affected
"Don't use a nuclear plant the size of a couple city blocks! Instead; let's clear-cut several hectares of forest to build wind farms that still won't generate the same amount of electricity... All to save the environment."
As someone who loves the mission of making the entire world renewable, Nuclear is one damned efficient non-renewable that is foolish to get rid of. More nuclear reactors should be something environmentalists reason with over coal.
Your point is still the most important one in the world today. - Germany swapping Nuclear for Renewable + Gas - how did that work out? - No such thing as renewables - I think that warning on the side of a AA battery - not to throw it in the trash - is just exaggerated - arent they made from 100% organic - bio degradable Tea leaves?

I love how they did their job so well in this campaign that it actually makes you hate the wind turbines at the end. An entire video of peaceful, cute-faced towers, living their lives, getting brutally killed, as you watch them horrified knowing they are going to die, some desperately trying to save their friends. Then, after all of this violence, fear, tears, the turbines come out, victorious, emerging from the bodies of the dead, growing, dependent on destruction of someone else for their life, like scavengers, cold, clean, faceless, emotionless, in contrast to the towers we previously saw, cheerful, happy, drinking tea, having friends, showing compassion to their companions. It legit made me want to tear these god damn windmills down and I was genuinely angry when I saw them popping up. This ad is so completely failed, delivers a message so radically opposed to what it should be that it actually made me think it was some anti wind turbines campaign or something like that. Truly, a bunch of incompetent idiots, the only message that I got from this ad is that, no matter what subject they try to touch, the ecologists systematically turn out to be incredibly incompetent and counter productive. And I personally believe it matches their beliefs pretty well (like tearing down nuclear plants despite being the cheapest and one of the least polluting ways to produce mass amounts of energy without emitting carbon dioxyde, which could be a great asset we could use while perfecting or finding long term solutions).
As someone who works in the solar industry, I must agree with you on your opinion that wind turbines do indeed sucks, and nuclear power is the bees knees.
Those 3 little wind turbines will fall a bit short in power production when the wind stops. The wind and sun aren't on demand options. Plus, I feel the turbines look worse when they are SCATTERED EVERYWHERE. I saw one place in the US where they wanted to put a solar farm. They wanted to raze acres upon acres of forest just to do so. That seems a bit counterproductive.
Renewables only work some of the time, and you need gas to fill the gaps - now why on earth would Germany want to become energy dependent on Russia? - Surely, the people in charge had the brains to see this coming? - its almost like there are financial interests bigger than countries - who are able to dictate their policies.
This is one of the reasons why we have such high energy bills now. And in the future, we will look at the wind turbines with their used blades that lie stacked in at the land fill site and see that they were not so environmentally friendly either. Nuclear power is the way forward and more research into nuclear fussion.
China already invented fusion tech. It kind of works. I honestly hope it backfires for china. I feel awful and scared having that kind of power in the hands of a communist state that is very likely to attack Taiwan and Japan.

HFlatMinor one of liberals biggest flaws was their war against nuclear energy in the US. @@AClRCLEOFLlGHT well, yes, that's just basic physics. regardless of that, an entire farm of these things can't compare to the output of a reactor - a big deal for many countries that don't have a lot of room at their disposal. and with thorium reactors around the corner, even nuclear waste (the only real downside to nuclear energy, the few accidents that happened all significantly improved the safety of the reactors such that meltdowns practically shouldn't happen if the powerplant isn't stupidly designed) isn't going to be much of a problem as it's got a very short half life compared to uranium and the "spent" uranium can be used in them, too.

And the machines that it takes to build the wind generators run on you guessed it DIESEL and maybe deisel exhaust fluid which makes the deisel exhaust less black and gray. I think deisel exhaust fluid is worse that diesel it self.
@@jacwilson2578 I believe power plants also tend to wrap in a water purification plant in with or next to the power plant. Pretty much all of the exhaust is clean, I’m not sure about nuclear waste though. I will have to read some about that, it probably isn’t as bad as depicted in something like the Simpson’s.

The first clip is the Athlone Power Plant which is a coal plant in Cape Town, South Africa. The "Two ladies of Athlone" were demolished on 22 August, 2010.
In all fairness, this was an ad against coal plants which also use cooling towers. But yes, as an ad it failed spectacularly.
As someone who works in the solar industry, I must agree with you on your opinion that wind turbines do indeed sucks, and nuclear power is the bees knees.
Fitting because cooling towers aren't known for murdering large birds
Lmao you sound extremely pissed off over a YT video don’t you
As stupid and hare brained as this ad was, some parts of your comment are even stupider.
That's pretty funny. Are those turbines really going to be as reliable as nuclear power though?
Nope. And they will never pay for themselves in their operational life.

Lol. Those three wind turbines are a mouse's fart compared to nuclear power.
The power generated by one isn't enough to even power the one next to it as a fan.
Its sad but true. So much money has been wasted on wind turbines only to find out its not reliable or cost effective.
