We were PESTERED to do the worlds worst football team so here it is, myself and Ed went al the way to San Marino to go and watch a football team that have NEVER won an international fixture. NEVER, not one win in their history! An unbelievable stat that defies all logic... would we be able to see them pull off the unthinkable?

To be fair San Marino probably is stronger than some teams above them, it's just that they always play against European teams that are hundreds times stronger than them and so couldn't possibly beat, while some of the teams above them may have weaker opposition in their continent
San Marino would love a friendly with other countries in below fifa rankings:
AFC
- Bhutan
- Guam
- Sri Lanka
- Timor Leste
every now and then they play friendlies against minor sides of other confederations. They drew 0-0 with Seychelles and 1-1 with St. Lucia... decent results. and mind there are many national teams in Central America that are worse than St. Lucia... if they keep organizing friendlies against teams like those it is just a matter of time until San Marino gets their second win

San Marino club teams also play in Europe, in CL their teams always go out during qualifying round in summer, in UL they don't have teams but in Conference they have 2 teams + the one coming from CL qualifying round.
the first edition all 3 teams lost at 1st round but this year one team (Tre Fiori) advanced to 2nd qualifying round after beating Fola Esch (Netherland team) 1-0 away and 3-1 home, becoming, I think, the first San Marino club team to win an international match.
Tre Fiori team also draw both matches in 2008/09 CL, losing against Sant Julia (Andorra team) only at penalties.
So I think the introduction of Conference League can give to San Marino teams a good chance to play against international teams and get more and more experience.

@@sehu1291 Just a detail, but some of the team players never played a full 90 minutes match, the original team that was going to play were troubled cuz of passport issues, and the 20 year old team didn't play because of an exam of high school
@@sehu1291 In 2002 the American Samoan team couldn't even get to the game due to passport issues, the youth team played against Australia instead even though 2 of them were only 15, some of them had never played 90 minutes before. Not a good example.
I went there to watch Scotland play San Marino 4 years ago (2-0 Scotland). What I definitely loved there was the pride the people there have in their country. It might be a tiny nation, it's still their country and they have just as much right to have a national team to support as English, French, German or Spanish people for example. Very friendly locals and as a result, I've kept a soft spot for them ever since.

They might have lost the match but the microstate won our hearts. Hopefully the footballing landscape in San Marino will get better in the future. Very pleasant and ultimately fantastic experience Ellis and Ed.

@@sehu1291to be fair I think the Solomans and Vanuata could give them a game. The rest would get roundly beaten by San Marino... well unless it was an away fixture the jetlag and the terrible pitches OFC teams play on could give them trouble.

Great video!!! Been there a few times to watch England and always enjoyed my trips to San Marino. This video brought back memories of a random international I went to watch in 2018…..Gibraltar v Lichtenstein. Gibraltar won 2-1!!! We didn’t see that coming and the limbs in the home end that night were incredible!! Keep these videos coming, they’re awesome 👍🏼

San Marino is actually not that bad . San Marino can beat low ranked asian teams and low ranked OC teams as well , raking has gone down so much due to being in Europe. San Marino can beat countries as Guam , Sri Lanka , Macau, Laos.

I've always loved San Marino, at least at Eurovision (and even then, I can't really work up any support for their act this year lol), and I visited a few years ago and absolutely adored the views, the food, and the people. That being said, I've never invested in their football team because I don't feel like having my heart broken so many times over, so more power to you for giving them some love! Cheers from the USA.

You wouldn't expect the citizens of such a small nation to be this patriotic, but they really do have a special bond with their country. Interestingly they are the world's first ever republic

The video reminds me of the story of two guys sat watching San Marino in a London pub, imagining how amazing it would have been to have been born there as you would have a statistically high chance of playing the national team.
They considered moving to SM and becoming citizens, but realised it would take too long.
So they did the next best thing: Became managers of a team 10,000 miles away in Polynesia. Their story is in a youtube video and in the book Up Pohnpei.

I have got three San Marino tops and I'm quite honestly a big fan. Always hoping for them to score a goal, equals a victory really. Those sky blue jerseys are the prettiest in world football.
On another note, a team from San Marino, also in sky blue-white, competes in the fifth division of Italian football and they're leading the table a few games from the end of the season.

I always look out for San Marinos result in the Euro and world cup qualifying games & I'll be chuffed when they get a win in a competitive game.... I do the same with The faroe island's who are improving well

Banter aside, the UEFA Assistance Kit Scheme has made it easier to obtain a San Marino (or other European minnows) shirt... you don't see any Adidas or Virma shirts in the wild (and when they show up, they're only match worn and fetch a pretty penny)
