One of the better looking cars of the 70’s-80’s. Almost bought one in 1983….ended up buying a 1980 Audi 4000 ( 5 cylinder version) instead.

Holy hell! She runs awesome. I wasn’t able to resuscitate my CIS fuel injection and my low mile mk1 scirocco S sat for many more years than this. But a new fuel tank and a Weber carb, I was finally able to drive it after sitting 20 years dormant.

I found a very similar 79 scirocco mk1 a few months ago here in California. She needed a new engine block, but I found an exact replacement on ebay for 400 bucks. She'll be on the road again later this year...same color but with more side art. Steering wheels on the wrong side for you blokes, isn't it...?

I'd get shot of the aftermarket air con - there's no chance it will work and it will just make life simpler after. I hope it goes well for you - it's a great car and with LHD you get the proper experience. Oh. and the boot struts are a stock item at SGS Engineering,

The air fans and everything seem to be working fine, I didn’t realise it was an aftermarket product LOL, its the first car I’ve ever brought and I am a roofer not a mechanic 😅. I’ll have to get somebody to look at it thank you for the feedback ✌🏼

Which part of the air conditioning is aftermarket? The compressor looks like the same one that was on my 1980 Scirocco.

Temp gauge not working?

I’ve noticed 2 temperature gauges one left of the clock beneath the radio and another left Side of the rev-counter in the speedo section. I need to look into the manual to see which one is for what haha.
