One of my favorite sandwiches is peanut butter and banana 🥪. I love using hot dog buns toasted with butter along with scrambled eggs for breakfast too. You have really good ideas for using up what you have! As my sweet Grandmother used to say, " waste not, want not". ✨

grated carrot and peanut butter is a fav of mine. adding chicken, if you have it, makes for a sort of satay vibe.

Your bread is significantly bigger than we have in America. A fav of mine is salted tomato and mayo. Raisins/sultanas and walnuts with that shredded carrot and apple, maybe? Tearing bread into a bowl with sugar and milk for a cheap cereal. Chips/fries on buttered bread is a good sandwich too. I like egg salad sandwiches as well. I put in a bit of dry Coleman's mustard and a bit of melted butter, a sprinkle of cayenne pepper

I adore beetroot sandwiches. Delicate and tasty and seem so much more than just beetroot, bread and butter/margarine.
Cheap cheese spread in place of butter etc is great with beetroot too.
For the apple and carrot, maybe a bit of desiccated coconut if you have some or sultanas or a tiny bit of a sweet sauce you might have in the cupboard or a little brown sugar

I make a salad of apple, carrot, and raisins. Never thought to eat it as a sandwich. Interesting. I like the German radish sandwich of sliced radishes on buttered bread with a sprinkle of salt. Bon appetit

I love banana sandwiches. When we were little our grandmother used to make us banana sandwiches with light brown sugar. Really delicious and a treat we looked forward too when visiting.
I still love that combo, but trying to be a bit healthier nowadays but enjoy it without sugar as well.

We were raised on banana and peanut butter sandwiches. A bit of crumbled bacon might be added. Very satisfying

When my brother was a young man and first living away from home with a bunch of other lads, there was a story in our family that he once ate a beetroot sandwich with no butter, and this was held up to be the ultimate in deprivation! I mentioned it to him a while back (he's passed on now) and we agreed it really wasn't so terrible, it was just our mum making out we couldn't look after and feed ourselves properly on our own. I really like beetroot in sandwiches now; we grow huge ones in our community garden, but they're not very popular at the food bank as they take too long to cook, so we, the volunteers, get to take home quite a few. I cook them in the slow cooker (my French friends don't know this and use pressure cookers). One of the old French ladies described them as 'succulent' (in French, much the same but with a French accent!).
Enjoying your channel, you have a lovely vlogging style and attitude to life.

Thank you, I need to cook mine in the slow cooker. So many times I have forgotten about them and I've burnt my sauce pan 😂Thank you 💕

I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, but I've been poor all my life. Here are more frugal tips.
    > If bread goes stale because it has stayed out too long, place a damp cloth over the sandwiches about 25-35 minutes later, the bread will taste fresh again. Prevent this from happening by placing a damp cloth over the tray of sandwiches until the last moment before serving.
    > Make your own butter. Currently cream cost $2.78 for a pound, which is 16oz. Generic brand butter is $4.00/L2.50 a pound; $22 a pound for french butter. Here's how: Pour 16oz/473ml Heavy Whipping Cream/Double Cream into a stand mixer with whisk attachment on. Add optional ½ tsp salt. Beat on high/No. 8 until it looks like whipped cream. Stop the mixer and scrape the sides of the bowl; you will do this two or three times. Continue mixing on high each time until it looks like scrambled eggs. Reduce mixer speed to low. The mixture will separate into butter and buttermilk quickly now. Reserve buttermilk for baking. The butter will be trapped inside the whisk. Give it a cold rinse under the faucet/tap until nearly clear. Wearing nitrile or latex gloves, hold whisk with butter over a bowl of iced water and peel the butter out of the whisk into iced water. Shape into a rectangle with your hands and pat dry with paper towel/kitchen paper. At this point, it's nice to personalize it by pressing it with your family's signet or a wax stamp. Wrap in waxed paper or kitchen parchment. Whisking takes 6-8 minutes, total time about 17 minutes. I've included a link to John Kirkwood's excellent butter making video. th-cam.com/video/T1Yvcouemcc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DBbq71Az9QiZm9Oe
    > Buy Bread at the bread factory outlet; aka, bakery outlet, day-old bread store, bakery thrift store. There are a lot of Bakery Outlet Stores located throughout the country where you can find name-brand breads for 50% - and sometimes as much as 75% - less than you'd pay at a regular grocery store. Ex: Pepperidge Farms hot dog buns, $4.99 at Grocers for $1.29 everyday at the outlet store - no, not a “sale price.”
    > Shop salvage food stores. Ex: type in 'buy salvage food dot com,' all one word and dot is a period, etc., into your search engine: Webcrawler; Duckduckgo; Startpage; etc. It brings up a map for your entire country. And includes where the cheapest groceries are, stores that specialize in selling bulk-size food stuffs, have monthly give-aways, coupons, and more.
    > When meat gets whiffy and is past its 'sell by' date. There are two strategies: First, make the meat into Jerky. Heavily season with salt and other spices, then dehydrate. Second, the reason India is known for using a variety of spices, usually about nine per dish, is because their meat is whiffy and they are basically embalming it with spices. They are a poor people and must eat meat that is going off because that's what they have. If needed, do what they do.
    > Hunters produce A Lot more venison than their family can eat. Hunters are not allowed to sell to retail groceries. (It makes sense, deer cannot be domesticated so there is no way to industrialize them as a meat source and authorities could never regulate it.) Resource Councils often have some type of 'Hunters for the Hungry,' in just about every region of your country. Look around, now that you know about it, you'll find it.
    > Learn to use bubble-foil! Cheap, effective insulation. Pot Cozy: th-cam.com/video/VkQA0_duIHE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EOzZSq_NRTztft_D Will keep stew hot over an hour.

Tuna pancakes. Tuna, mayo, liquid smoke, bacos, worcestershire sauce, Coleman's dry mustard, S&P. Mix together and serve on top of a hot pancake that has melted butter on top. (It's better than it sounds.)

do you just boil the beetroot, then slice it? i imagine the pickled slices from a can with cheese would be incredible for a sandwich!
