About the crossed over bobby pins, u-pins are a GREAT alternative. As someone who has a lot of cousins in ballet, I watch their tie their buns with the u-pins and they don’t ever seem to cross over, so highly recommend!!

Use spiral hair pins instead of bobby pins. They last longer and keep buns in place for longer
