    • @wmd40
      @wmd40 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Monstera is not pet friendly. I keep mine high up on my plant shelf that my cat cannot get onto. Some cats don't mess with plants but mine does. Most plants sold as floor plants are bad. Peace lilies and all other lilies are toxic. Palms are okay generally but I personally can never keep them alive lmao.

I´ve recently fallen in love with a Mammey Tree, also called the sapote tree or Mammea Americana. I´ve never seen it been sold or displayed as a large floor house plant but about a year ago I bought a large one really cheap. The shape is groovy, the leaves are beuutiful , rounded and shiny and it does not need bright direct light. I bought one , potted it and left it in the living room and it had a striking effect as decor. It has that wow effect that it strikes anyone that comes into my house.

Hi Nick! I love your choices for floor plants. I hope I can find the Natal Mahogany, but not sure I have enough room for a big floor plant. LOL! I have a very small Janet Craig and didn't realize it would get so big. I love that it has potential for that! I have 2 fairly large Dracaena Marginates and really love them. One is growing really wonky, which I love! I, also, have some smaller Dracaenas that I'm hoping develop the trunk like stems. I have one variegated schefflera, but it's nowhere near as big as yours. This was another fun and informative video! You're such a joy to watch! Thank you, again, for sharing your time and expertise!

@@mrsbeard5225 Mine is fine, if anything too big and bushy and just had a haircut (my cat likes to nibble him) but he gets lots of bright indirect light all day long in my conservatory - when he was in a lower light situation the growth was definitely less. I would say there's been about 6-8 new leaves this year.

I have a Janet Craig that is atleast five feet tall and about 15 years old. When I recieved her, she was living in an old plastic pot with the same soil from atleast 10 years ago and potted with a sanseveria. It was super root bound with slug damage. I soaked the old dirt off and massaged it's roots, repotted it, a sprinkle of fertilizer and it's kicking out new growth like crazy! She has little bends in her stems at odd angles I love her. She's a slow grower but amazingly resilient.

You know what I learned about plants, when we grow them just because they do not proceed, but when you bond emotions, they strive. I was that plant murderer who could not keep a plant alive, and i do so great with plants that are dying. You have to share spirituality with them. Real emotions.

Had one years ago doing full and beautifully made the big mistake of fertilizing with miracle grow and diluted it even more…it killed it! Turned mushy dropped all leaves. Also my fiddle leaves ficus it barely survived but dropped many leaves I had to buy another small one to fill it up as it grows hopefully. Ficus are very picky though don’t like to be moved.

But it has put up with so much neglect from me, from being outside to sitting in front of a doorway where there was barely any light. It has put off four leaves since I’ve had it, but I finally found the perfect spot and it is looking healthier everyday and put out a new baby leaf!

I bought Dracena Massangeana in IKEA in Croatia, I never had a brown tips from watering it from a tap water (which I also do with all of my plants). I have it for 3 years now, I water it every 3-4 weeks, and no brown tips. Apsolutlly healty lifs. For me it is low maintenance, exellent plant for everybody. I think that your problem is in the tap water. We drink water from a tap. And the water is exellent quality.

I also love the Australian Tree ferns for larger floor plants. As long as you can keep a little extra humidity 🌱

I have been looking for one for ages. Are they common where you live, or how did you get your hands on one. Easy to grow, yes, no?

Count Dracula not difficult to grow as long as you have a bright light space. The other key is to keep the “stems” misted

I literally have the opposite experience with the dracaenas! My Janet Craig literally would have brown leaves then turn black and my lemon lime corn dracaena flourished! they were right next to each other in the same kind of soil and watered with bottle water when bone dry! how funny

They’re pretty basic plants, but I find money trees are super easy to grow and hella cheap. Mines grown a ton in like 2 months and I have no complaints

Question/favor... will you do a video regarding light. I’m moving to a new place and the lighting situation is going to require that I supplement with grow lights. My main question is how long to you leave grow lights on, how to position them etc.

What are your thoughts on the Dracaena Marginata? I need to fill a shady corner in my living room and would like the pop of color and height, unless you think it may not be a good spot for it (based on light requirements). ??

Are the variegated versions of plants more tolerant of low light conditions? The dracaena corn plant has fragrant night time blossoms in December.

Help...I think I over watered my cast iron plant. It went from looking good to having curled drooping leaves. I cut back the leaves and put it away from direct light. Any advice?

Lol oh man do I feel awesome about my natal mahogany. Someone didn’t know/care what they had because I found it in an alley (albeit it was a nicer neighborhood)
