Major thanks to Vorime for permission to use his video and consulting on some questions about the run. Check out the description on his video for a list of all the people who helped achieve this amazing new WR.
FAQ:
Q: "How do they know what to do in each room?"
A: Trial and error where the person who routed the run has to find out what enemies/chamber type/rewards are in the next room one seed increment at a time. They have to reload savefiles to keep using the same seed also. (I'm a little behind on what tools are available now so it may be slightly easier than I indicate here)
Q: "Is this allowed?"
A: This type of run has its own category on speedrun.com called Seeded so yes it's allowed there but not in the Unseeded categories.
Q: "Why Eris rail?"
A: Some other routes have been created with other weapons such as Beowulf, you'd have to ask the router (pseudonym7777) why exactly they chose Eris. Eris is considered a very strong aspect though so it seems natural.

Ok but imagine how terrifying this is to the enemies. Zagreus just enters the room and the next thing you know he’s moved light speed right in your face and shoots 5 rockets, each with the power of something more like a NUKE.
He shoots a rocket in the air and while all the enemies are looking up he assassinates every one of them
Absolutely nuts. In the final fight Hades never even got to leave the spot he starts in.

I definitely noticed movement speed bonuses are all multipliers when I ended up with Greater Haste, Rush Delivery, and Lambent Plume and was suddenly flying across the screen with every dash.. I ended up just dying to traps.
I'm curious if they stack with Poseidon's Call though. Max speed Rip Current with Proud Bearing could be something.

There's a huge difference between enjoying a game and rushing through and breaking the game, this kind of stupid stuff must be super cringe for developers to watch, all their hard work and these ppl are either skipping their hard work or breaking it

Vorime hasn't skipped anything. He has also made a video, with the developers of the game running a commentary, on a fresh file run. Check it out.
To be able to do this run takes a level of dedication to the game that you would not get unless the game was truly worthy.
If you developed a game and no-one played it to this level, that's fine. But trust me, the developers do not hate this.

i didn't know anything about seeded hades runs before this video, so i had no appreciation for them. im glad you made this because these are so impressive! i totally dismissed how much work goes into these before now!
I don't know if it's accurate to say the seed changes. The seed just determines what sequence of values the RNG will pop out. The reason you perform certain actions is to skip values you don't want.
For example, lets say my seed makes the RNG pop out 3, 7, 4 as the first few values. 3 was used to determine my current room. I want the next room to be generated based on 4, so I trigger something like random dialogue, so the game will ask RNG for a number and burn through the 7 I wanted to skip.

This was really interesting to watch, I played the game but not nearly at this level. The only thing i'd like to see is a cut version with just the gameplay without all the menus and pauses, but that seems like a ton of editing for such a short clip.

Just a quick primer on how random number generators work and the concept of seeding:
The way this works in general is that you initialize a random number generator, and then you can ask it for random numbers. When you give it a seed number at initialization, it will produce the same sequence of random numbers when you ask for them. Like if you plant an apple seed, you'll predictably get an apple tree. This is useful if you want to do something like make a multiplayer Tetris game, and you want the same sequence of pieces for both players. Instead of sending them a huge list at the start of the game, or needing to ask the server for the next piece, you can just send each player's Tetris client the seed at the beginning, and then they'll get the same pieces each time, assuming you only use the RNG for deciding the next piece.
Conceptually, setting the seed makes it like you have an infinitely long list of predictable random numbers, and each time you ask for a random number, it gives you the next item in the list. If you watch cgull's video, this is why "RNG Uses" matters. It gives you what position you're at in the predictable list, and then routing is just a matter of making the game ask for random numbers until the next one in the list is the one you want for your room layout or whatever.

As explained in the video: The damage buffs are multiplicative, so two buffs at +90% each will result in +261% instead of +180%. He has a bunch of Special Damage buffs from Chaos as well as a whole heap of Move Speed buffs along with Rush Delivery which converts his speed buffs into damage.
Since this is a seeded run, he has written down exactly what to do to get all those buffs. In a normal run of Hades you won't know what you can get, so you won't be able to stack buffs anywhere close to that without extreme luck.
Totally bonkers.

Thanatos always does. It was implemented because his rooms tend to take a long time and thus wouldn't be fair in case the player is using Tight Deadline.

I don't think +1500% is right. I get somewhere around +560% (1.1^8 * 1.4 * 2 * 1.1 = 6.60 = +560%)
I think it may be multiplied in the order the speed boosts are obtained.
Also, is that factoring in Rush Delivery and the various boons that are obtained?
@@LloydTheZephyrian Multiplication is associative, so order doesn't matter. And I counted everything he mentioned at the end (22:14).

Where are the x2 and last 1.1 speed boosts from? I know that the first 8 1.1 boosts are from Well of Charon items and the 1.4 is from the Hermes boon that just gives movement speed.

you didn't really explain what a seed was man lol. you pretty much defined what it is by giving an example or how it would work but I still don't really understand what the seed is. does it speaks to the outcome of the game? the potential variables based on certain actions or interactions etc? if that's the case how do you have things like a no seed run?
To explain it thoroughly would take a very long time. There's not much need to know about how it works if you're just playing the game casually. I can't really answer your questions without getting into specific details that would take up paragraphs of text. @@Haelian gotcha thanks for the link, also I've been always wondering. you mention sometimes that you don't want to get certain boons beczuse they lock you out of getting other boons but I've never experienced that. usually if I already have an attack boon for example, I can still get offered another attach boon to replace you. idk if you done a video explaining that before

@@kalmkrew the chance of being offered a replacement boon is only 10% and it can’t be modified. Compare that to the chance of being offered an eligible legendary or duo, which’s about 32% (total) if your core boons are full, and is modified by Eurydice’s nectar, yarn, mirror, keepsakes, and Chaos’s favor boon.
If you have very few possible boons then your chance of getting offered a replacement increases, but that doesn’t happen in normal gameplay. Also, the chance of getting the replacement you want is really low.

Actually this route was quite a bit of fun to learn and run. You’re going so fast by the end it’s quite ridiculous, and there’s a big sense of satisfaction from pulling off a complex route like this, it’s a big rush!

I don't see how this is even possible without cheating, and if they are cheating that's not a legit Speedrun, but at the same time I don't get speedrunning in general, I'm a completionist, I take my time with my games and make sure I have 100% before I uninstall and move on to a different game

1. The devs of Hades have donated to GDQ (a live speedrunning event) several times in support of their game and the community.
2. Several members of the dev team joined us during live Hades speedrunning races in the past to show their support and answer questions, including the studio director.
3. Members of the dev team have reached out to the speedrun community on several occasions for feedback and playtesting thoughts. Speedrunners are really helpful to playtest games and find bugs.
