Yesterday I just played my first game with the Clade and won against the Hearthkyn Salvagers (Votann). Went with 3 Infiltrators and 8 Vanguards (3 gunners). I think its important to max the use of the gunners and rather use ruthstalkers.
I’ve played a lot of Hunter Clade. I actively believe the community over values this this team. The lack of blast and the limitations of what model gets what single reroll is painful. Their strats are just kind of bad, except for fight twice. They have some cute tricks but so many other teams outshine them.
You are right. Nobody plays these guys and only remember their glory days. They have a ton of rules that amount to basically nothing and have mid stats.
Was about to comment something similar, no idea why so many youtubers put Hunter Clade in A tier or even B tier because I don't think they're on the same tier as Blooded or Corsairs or other common "B tier" factions
Nah. Hunter Clade have a high skill ceiling, and being honest is not the same as being bad. Good players are not going to let you get a load of blast weapons off against them, whereas certain high skill plays are tricky to plan around. One of the top UK players has been dabbling in them recently.
@@revandb3438 not having the threat of blast or torrent is the problem. You don’t need to position against this team except to dodge infiltrators reroll blocking aura. Just because good players won’t let it happen is different then not displaying the threat at all
@@stevenwest1873 the ignore obscuring can be tricky. Especially since you can combo it with the leader's dual activation to spring that on your opponent in a single activation. And on ITD, there is a combo with the ruststalkers where you move up to a door, open it and hatch way fight them on conceal. Given the servo skull and extra inch movement, you can do - Move, dash, open door, free fight An extra APL from the comms can substitute as the servo skull, or allow for an extra fight.
So, it depends how much your local group care about what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG). Personally I think you could buy 1 box of Skitarii & 1 box of Sicarians and then use them either as Rangers or Vanguard / Assassins or Infiltrators. You can use tokens or elastic bands to show differences. If your group is really strict on WYSIWYG then you’d need 2 boxes of each
Did this video come out before the balance data slate? I’m new so idk when the data slate came out… I thought you couldn’t do 5 ruststalker/5 infiltrators?
You can’t have more sicarians than skitarii but you can have the same, so exactly 5 & 5. There used to be a way to have 6 skitarii & 5 sicarians but that’s no longer the case
You could definitely proxy rangers for vanguards and infiltrators for assassins, just check with your local TO And as long as you have even amounts of Sicarian to Skitari or more Skitari to Sicarians your kill team is legal

Interesting! I would have thought the Ruststalkers would be great against the 3+ saves of the Hearthkyn

How many boxes do I need to play HC with all/most of the options?

So you never use assasins?
There’s a time & a place, I think based on the terrain and opponent there’s some value in what the assassins can bring
