That bass… the odd time signatures really make the songs unique with the instruments playing off each other. Tool songs are typically complex with incredible music and some of the best lyrics ever put to paper…
@@Mubiki ^^ This...I would usually recommend new listeners to hear this or Sober first. I feel if someone doesn't like either of those they aren't gonna like anything further down the rabbit hole.

As a musician I can tell you that Tool's music is extremely complex and advanced the time signature changes alone are head spinning, along with Polyphia, this is the music that musicians listen to. Songs: aenima, 46 and 2, schism sober, laterals, and my favorite , pneuma.
I agree, rhythmically Tool is very complex., harmonically and melodically, not so much. Tools performance and rhythm is more than enough to be an awesome band nonetheless.
The scream on that song is one that few can reproduce. Personally I can never get enough of Maynard's voice, which is why he's in my top three favorite bands. If I were going to recommend a Tool song, it'd be the classic one, "Sober". Has more of that metal feel you're looking for.
You did great picking up the lyrical meanings, great first reaction! The more you listen to Tool, the more you’ll see how the polyrhythms melt into the journey they are taking you on. Tool is to be experienced, not just listened to. Pull lyrics and dig into the depths that Tool drags you to! It’s a hell of a ride.
You did really well, and The Pot is the best introductory song to Tool. Please react to 46 & 2 next, and then Sober, Lateralus, Schism, and then Pneuma. Pneuma you want to hear the studio version with lyrics first, and then watch the Vic Firth Danny Carey drum cam version of it. Finally, Pushit and Pushit (Salival.) This completes the top layer introduction to Tool.
Lyrically, Aenima is my absolute favorite🖤it's exactly what needs to happen to the world right now! If you wanna hear his long scream then you gotta hear The Grudge! Everything they do is perfection!
Been watching you react to Em for a while now, so not surprised at the speed with which you're picking up the message. Impressed, not surprised. And, I must say it's fantastic to get to watch you discover Tool. Keep up the great work!

Tool is known for their on off bear time signatures, and heavy bass signs. I’m glad you really enjoyed the song! Also, to answer question towards the beginning of what bands to react, I highly suggest Nightwish !!! But this is a band that you NEED to watch live performances.
jambi is my favorite, the guitars are just so crunchy and I really identify with the lyrics, plus the transition from that to wings for marie/10,000 days is so good. those are my 2nd and 3rd favorite songs and the pot comes right after :p that whole album is awesome really. also parabola is good.

If you really like this you're about to get your mind blown once you get into the tool rabbit hole.
You need to explore all of TOOL's music, over 30 years and still creating amazing music, they are the most unique band I've ever heard, the musicians are excellent! Maynard tells it like it is, I would read all the lyrics
Greetings. Great reaction! I'm very impressed by how much you picked up on right off the bat. I know people who've listened to Tool for a couple decade who wouldn't have gotten all that from a first listen, so Bravo! As far as which songs to check out? All of them. If you are looking for something hard, Ticks and Leeches is pretty driving. Pushit (in my opinion, is Adam Jones (guitarist) best work). Lateralus and Pneuma (Pneuma just beat Lateralus as my favorite song) are each impeccable musically and in message. The Grudge, you really should check out The Grudge at some point. You'll know why when you hear it, it's related to something you said in this video. But it's kind of hard to go wrong with Tool. Now that you've opened the door, it's time to swing on the spiral.
Wow...literally just ran across your channel by looking up a lil wayne reaction. Now that i'm subscribed, you hit me with the tool reaction???? am i in heaven? lol
Other amazing Tool songs, Of course Lateralus they won a Grammy for that. The Grudge for sure. Stinkfist, their most radio played song, Eulogy is just a bad ass song and you will love it!
Perfect song to showcase Maynard. The guy's got like 30 different voices and he throws a ton here. When this album came out and you played the whole thing out, The Pot and Right in two stood out immediately.
funny i saw you had uploaded this just days ago when i wanted to listen to the song 😂 i recommend Parabola too and my favorite Reflection! very strong awesome songs by them 😍
Tool...Eulogy. It is one of their best songs. Aenima is another great one by them. The lyrics in Eulogy are chilling and Aenima's lyrics are more relevant now than they were the well over 20 years ago they were written. They really are one of the best bands to come out of the 90s.
It's "weeping shades of coinzened indigo" which is essentially crocodile tears (insincere tears of sorrow). I had to look it up. I believe the addition of lemon juice is to help cry fake tears on command/in the public eye. LOL I love how The Pot's music is constantly constructing and deconstructing itself.
You said at the beginning that you wanted to explore more bands and do less deep dives, and then you listen to a Tool song. Ha! The deepest dive there is. Very good reaction, though. I appreciate the lyrical interpretation and the honesty. I subscribed. I know that most deep dives don't usually do entire catalogues, but there are a lot of channels that have done all of Tool (yes, I laughed, too, when I wrote that). I'd be curious what that stat is, but I bet it would surprise people. There are many incredible band suggestions coming your way, many worthy of that honor, too. But there seems to be a reason that Tool so many.
A kangaroo court is a group of people with no knowledge of the law, but have been given legal sanction anyway. They're usually referred to as "tribunals."
Tool was actually one of the bands that got me started on progressive rock. And the thing about tool is no song of theirs sounds exactly the same, nor does it follow the same formula. which is what makes this band unique in so many different ways. And you are correct about the song being a different time signatures because it most certainly is. The song is actually in kind of a series of different time signatures, and this is only scratching the surface of what this band can do.
Awww, HELL yeah! Lil, you are SO gonna enjoy this rabbit hole! You are so perceptive when you disect lyrics, you're gonna love Maynard's snarky sarcasm and double entendres. The odd time signatures and multi polyrhythms Tool's known for may throw you a bit at first, but after listening to a few songs, you'll get the hang of their style. As far as suggestions go, "46 And 2", their Led Zeppelin cover "No Quarter", and "Parable/Parabola" are musts.
Would love to see Dead Embryonic Cells by Sepultura. That band is worth a deep dive as well. Not to mention if you cover anything Sepultura, you'll gain like 20,000 Brazilian followers.
Another reason Tool sound so different from other bands is Justin Chancellor on bass. There are so many songs where the bass carries the song while the guitar is just emotional accents and riffs. Can't go wrong with Tool. A couple bands I didn't see on your channel are Unleash The Archers from Canada and Alien Weaponry from New Zealand. Most first timers for UAT start with "Awakening" the full band play through video or "Tonight We Ride". The video for "Tonight We Ride" is very Mad Max. The lead vocalist Britnney Hayes, aka Britnney "Slays", is a powerhouse and the musicianship is TIGHT. If you like guitar solos start with "Awakening" and pay close attention to the bass player. I've only recently started listening to Alien Weaponry so I can't make any educated suggestions, plus I can't pronounce most of the song titles LOL. Most of their lyrics are sung in the Maori language and the song titles are also mostly Maori. I think "Kai Tungata" is what most people start with, the video is crazy. I can detect some Tool influences here and there in some of there music but they don't sound like Tool.

SPIRAL OUT!!! 🌀
Tool is a weird band and has one of the largest diehard fanbases... Their philosophy as a band is still "heard, not seen"... Their sound is groove and simplicity w/ instrumental complexity... Their catalog of music is quality over quantity - only 6 studio albums since 1992. Their concerts are an experience. The band was formed around 1991 by Adam Jones (guitar), Danny Carey (drums), Maynard James Keenan (vocals)... Paul D'Amour (bass) did the 1st 2 records, then was replaced by Justin Chancellor (bass) in 1996... They were named after their backyard tool shed 😂 First release in 1992 was an EP 'Opiate'... followed by a full album 'Undertow' (1993) which got two 'claymation' music videos on MTV (Adam Jones is also a visual special effects wizard), and the album went gold, then platinum (1 million copies sold) by '95. 'Aenima' (1996) charted at #2 in the US and was a bigger hit w/ more special effects music videos for 'Stinkfist' (debuted on MTV as 'Track #1') and 'Aenima'... the record sold 3x platinum. However, legal troubles w/ their record label put the next album on hold... Maynard James Keenan formed a new band A Perfect Circle and their 2000 debut album 'Mer de noms' sold platinum in the US w/ the singles 'Judith' and '3 Libras'. Tool finally released 'Lateralus' (2001) and it charted at #1 and sold 3x platinum... the album also marked longer and more complex songs for Tool... Their concerts were a visual extravaganza. Unlike most singers, Maynard James Keenan preferred to sing from the back of the stage in the shadows... Next album '10,000 days' also debuted at #1 in 2006 and sold 2x platinum. There would be a long wait for the next Tool album... 13 years. The band was mired in legal troubles and toured often... but new music was slow to develop. Finally, the album 'Fear inoculum' was released in 2019 and was another #1 hit.
You seem like someone who might know....The reference to 'indigo' in the song, do you know what it refers to? I have browsed some forums debating it but they all just speculate.
@@Nicholas_Burmeister Well, lyrics are always open to interpretation... but the song lyrics referred to "cozened indigo" which refers to "fake" or "deceptive" ... Now, Tool has a song called "Third eye"... it's represented by the color electric indigo, which is a New Age Philosophy that teaches intuition & spiritual knowledge of the 6th 'chakra' or third eye. Perhaps, Maynard was simply calling out a phony who preaches New Age Spirituality, but is simply trying to get attention or sympathy ("lemon juice up in your eye" which indicates fake tears 😭) It goes w/ the theme of the lyrics - calling out fake people for spouting BS... Another way to look at this is indigo tears stains from eye makeup... When women cry, their eye makeup runs down their face and stains their faces. That's a simpler interpretation - fake tears w/ fake shade running down their face. Again, up to the listener... but it refers to a phony.
One of my top 5 songs for Tool and I'm so glad your finally giving them a shot. If u looking to really branch out might I suggest The Posthumous Letter - William Control. Again - Flyleaf Dance with the Devil - Breaking Benjamin.
Tool will give you heavy and everything else. This is a great song but it's a starter song for more radio play. Dig in and you will get hooked. The song H. hits hard and Eulogy are good ones among many others.
I have recently discovered Tool and have watched probably over 50 reactions to The Pot. You are the first one who has picked up on the actual meaning of the song in the first listen, with no lyrics, or song notes. Great ear. Outstanding!
You did your homework before watching, that’s a smart move! It really helps give an informed reaction. Other songs by Tool to react to: Sober live (Pro Shot), Schism, Forty Six & 2, and the must see Danny Carey Cam of Pneuma!
This is the 1st song past 10,000 Days. The first 4 songs of this album is about the death of his mother. His mother was a devout christian and this song seems to be about the shame her congregation tried to heap on Maynard, and his response to said attacks.
Girl, "Tool" is the deepest dive you can possibly take...and we are all begging for you to keep going

Perhaps, Maynard was simply calling out a phony who preaches New Age Spirituality, but is simply trying to get attention or sympathy ("lemon juice up in your eye" which indicates fake tears 😭)
It goes w/ the theme of the lyrics - calling out fake people for spouting BS...
If u looking to really branch out might I suggest
The Posthumous Letter - William Control.
Again - Flyleaf
Dance with the Devil - Breaking Benjamin.
Tool will give you heavy and everything else. This is a great song but it's a starter song for more radio play. Dig in and you will get hooked. The song H. hits hard and Eulogy are good ones among many others.
Lilly Jane in the house!!
That bass thunders 🔥
I have recently discovered Tool and have watched probably over 50 reactions to The Pot. You are the first one who has picked up on the actual meaning of the song in the first listen, with no lyrics, or song notes. Great ear.
Outstanding!
You did your homework before watching, that’s a smart move! It really helps give an informed reaction. Other songs by Tool to react to: Sober live (Pro Shot), Schism, Forty Six & 2, and the must see Danny Carey Cam of Pneuma!
Lamb Of God🤘🏼
Don’t underestimate this girl, she’s crazy smart and dropping knowledge.
Getting TOOL on the first go isn’t extremely common.
Pantera 😢
~ Mouth for War
~ Cemetery Gates
~ The Sleep
~ Suicide Note 1&2
~ Slaughtered
This is the 1st song past 10,000 Days. The first 4 songs of this album is about the death of his mother. His mother was a devout christian and this song seems to be about the shame her congregation tried to heap on Maynard, and his response to said attacks.
Vicarious is about the death of his mother? 🧐
@@cyberdemon1702 yeah
try Tool Fear Innoculum ...... that album was released just a few months before the pandemic hit .... then look at the track titles.
