I bought Nikkor Z17-28 f2.8, a Tamron design and was very impressed. So I got this Tamron, Z28-75 f2.8 gen 2 and frankly I love it so much that I prefer it to Z24-120 f4, even for travelling. First of all, 28-75mm is the focal range I use it most of the time plus I have 17-28mm. Second, sharpness in real life is similar to Z24-120. I actually find Tamron images more appealing. They have more punch and in general I prefer Tamron's rendering to Z24-120 rendering. It is also light and portable. And finally f2.8. Never underestimate a fast lens.
One advantage of Nikon's 28-75 2.8 is that there are no hot spots when shooting infrared photography. I own this lens, and it is a very good for events, but it is a bit slow focusing for fast-moving indoor dance.
Everything these days appears to be focused (PUN intended) on AF performance (like the Z6 III), so this G2 appears to be for those who are obsessed with AF speed and accuracy. Thank you for the insight and comparisons with the other two 28-75mm lenses (Nikon and Tamron G1); love your videos (and the Corpse Bride poster in your studio, one of my favorite soundtracks)!!
I have this lens. Most of my landscape photography I use the 14-30, 24-70 f/4 and 70-200 so will not take this lens along. But, other times I will just carry the 105 macro. I was put off at first as it looks quite large, but when I got it, that didn't matter at all as it is light. Image quality is fabulous.
Nice review guys and a really good point about the software dock being no different than a mobile phone. I think if anyone is worried about it then a little piece of black electrical tape will completely seal it. I definitely recommend anyone on a budget to consider the tamron lenses, they offer a lot for not a lot which is what I did this on my f mount when I was starting out.
2:52 I never thought of that! But yeah, it makes perfect sense. I guess an exposed USB-C port doesn't mean it can handle rain, but it also doesn't mean it can't. Thanks Kon!
I really wanted to watch a comparison review from people I trust, having bought the Nikon version at the beginning of June. No point in swapping it from what you say. Also, I don't want to risk it being a paperweight after a Nikon firmware one day, even if that's only temporary while Tamron catches up.
how was the handling on the Nikon ZF? I notice you don't use a grip on the ZF and still seem to hold the 28-75 fine. Also I LOVED the Blue ZF with the Blue strap!
I just switched to full frame ZF from ZFC and bought this lens as my standard zoom. Probably will get the Nikon Z 14-30 and 70-180 in the future plus all primes
I have this one and the Nikon 28-75mm. These are the lightweight lenses compared to trhe Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S VR. USB C Port for the Tamron I just put a electrical tape over it. Love the function button and been using it on the Z6III. Cheers!
@@csc-photo To see what the whole Fuss was about. I think they are equal myself. Tamron has another function button and a USB C port for updates. But I got the Nikon 28-75mm used and the Tamron also. So I use both of them at the same time on Two different Zf's. Cheers!
I have the Sony version adapted and rented the 24-70 2.8 to compare and to be honest the Tamron is sharper, better image quality. The bokeh is softer and more pleasing on the Nikon. I also thought the Nikon to be a little bit harder to handle on smaller bodies like the Z5 but perfect on a Z8. I think it's just a matter or weighing in if you don't need 24mm and appreciate 5mm on the longer end.
Nice video . for outdoor walks, street and portraits of my little daughter, what do you recommend on Nikon Z f? tamron 28-75mm f2.8 di iii vxd g2 or Nikkor z 24-120 f4 s
I have the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 lens and it's a really good lens. However, I needed f/2.8 for the lower light situations at times. If you don't need f/2.8 and are fine with f/4, I would absolutely pick the Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 as that was my top alternative when I was looking at similar zoom lenses.
I've got this lens permanently on my Z8 but it's actually in the Sony E mount with the Megadap ETZ21 adapter and I find it really good but I can't connect to the Tamron utility. I keep getting a " Lens not connected " message. Has anyone else had this problem, or is it a fault with my lens.
This is very timely. I'm looking for a lens for my Zf for event photography. Sounds like a good choice for my kind of work. It really comes down to which one I can find used for less money. Thanks for the video - charming as always but I am shocked you're still wearing jumpers!

This is the first non-native lens I’m seriously considering. Thanks for reviewing this one! 👏🏻

Thanks guys! Well done tip-toeing around the matching specs...

one thing i'll live and die by is Tamron's 6 year warranty. theyve replaced lenses for almost free for me before. its excellent.

i have nikon one and love for doing volleyball and and basketball.
That is a lovely yellow summer jumper 😃

Great review guys. I have an odd question. What gear are you using to shoot this video. I really like the punchy colors. Thanks
Thank you, i think it was still Nikon Z6 and 24-70mm f/4 S lens
28mm always left me wanting to go wider. It's good that Z shooters have more choice though.

Oh also curious why you have both Nikon and Tamron versions

You can buy USB c port plugs on ebay at £2 for 3 of them.

Thanks,is there any different between the sony version and the Nikon version,g2,?
@@pompeii357 optically no, it’s the same lens, and adapted works well for stills.
@@Willymaze thanks
did you happen to review lens flare? The Nikon doesn't have all the coatings that the "S" series does but does the Tamron have the coatings?
Does Nikon support the in camera corrections for the tamron lens ?
Nice video .

tamron 28-75mm f2.8 di iii vxd g2

I’ll take Tilley!! 🐕
Can we shoot 2.8 at 75 mm ?
Yes

10 pushups for each like.
Now we need a new upgrade for the Nikon/Tampon 28-75 ...🦘
