Awesome looking GX, man(And Wifey).. Yes, LED headlights were one of the first things I did. I also did LED Yellow fogs to give me that cool factor, 3 seasons, while in the snow/winter it's a safety feature.. That Roof Box is Fire!!!

It’s ridiculously reliable and well built. It ticks so many boxes, idk if Toyota will ever be able to top the GX470. I owned a FJ80 years ago and I loved that as well but the GX more well rounded I would say. The only thing I think might come close is the new Landcruiser. I love that new LC but the price is 😫😫😫😫!

How does it act at hwy speeds for you 65-75 mph? I moved mine back to get the front of the box as far as it goes and it bounces something crazy. Any suggestions you have?
Holy moly! I bought a 2008 with about the same mileage. I'm scared to ask how much you guys paid because I may have gotten rap. . . "taken advantage of." I wanted it so badly, though, because it was in perfect shape, had already had the timing belt done, and was a one-owner that had never lift Arizona (no rust). I think it was about $18k. It had everything I wanted, including a back-up camera, moon-roof, and KDSS. OK, now I'm just making excuses for my poor negotiation skills.

I would like to see a front conversion from gx470 to Toyota prado ! You would need to replace fenders front bumper hood ,grill , headlamps! that would be awesome ! Nobody has done that on TH-cam
u should go with the phoenix auto tesla style screen and update that dash if u got nav, but if u got the non nav mang ur set just update the headunit throw some apple car play and throw some updated speakers and i guarentee u the stock subwoofer is blown by now... but shoot hey if u ever want to sell ur gx i would love to give her a great home.... beautiful rig i love these rides!! keep me in mind seriously ill fly drive walk wherever to meet yall... -peter
LOL thank you, we love our GX and don’t have any plans on selling her any time soon. The price we got it for was a steal compared to the current asking prices. We got it right before the GX craze.
Looks good, im keeping my 03 in stock form, its a great sleeper, was not set up for towing either , what a pain in the ass getting trailer lights wired up. As expensive as these things our you'd think they would of came with a tow package

Luckily we have a few good tire spots here! We have about 15k miles on these tires and they have at least another 15 left in em. For the price I’m mot mad at all!
love our blue 05 gx470 got 145k on it and is a tank goes everywhere and anywhere, test drove a newer 460 3 weeks ago and a brand new one and a thats a big no on both and keeping the 470
Don't get the tesla style nav. you basically lose all of your physical buttons, have to take your eyes off the road, and rely on the screen which isn't intuitive at all since there's no tactile feel. something as simple as turning down the fan or adjusting volume becomes a multistep process. there's a better 9in android head unit out there for the gx's that dont have factory nav

Found your channel from browsing and you guys seem like a pretty cool outdoorsy couple. I am in the process of looking at a White on Black 2006 GX470 in the Great White North. It seems the tan interior is more common and I am wondering if there should be anything I should look out for? I know they have the same underbody as the 4runner.
Sorry for the late reply, so I was recently helping a friend find a GX and man it was tough! He ended up going with an FJ because the market has gone crazy on GXs all the ones we looked at were dogged! Things to look out for would be, making sure the timing belt has been done, cracking dash, leaking valve covers. That is really about it other than those things these vehicles are beastly!
I genuinely enjoy watching your videos. Your videos had much to do with my decision to purchase my gx 470. I do have a question about the ride quality about the springs you switched to. Now that the springs have settled, how would you describe the ride quality?
The ride quality is awesome! No different from the bags in my opinion. I will say this tho now that we use our GX for camping a lot. If you see yourself doing one of those heavy overlanding builds you might want to consider stiffer springs.

Thank you for the video! I just bought my gx and want to change my rims and tires, surprise surprise! 😂 Any rubbing issues with the new tires? I personally want to find the best offset/size I can do without cutting the frame and fenders.
We went with these TRD wheels wrapped in BFG KO2. No rubbing at all unless backing up with the steering wheel in full lock. Then you get a slight rub on the edge of the tire. Other than that we haven’t had any issues with this set up or need to cut/remove anything. Congratulations on your new purchase!

The BFG KO2 is definitely a little louder than a road tire.... but feel like it is the best balance “do it all Swiss Army knife of tires”. We have driven on the asphalt, mud, sand ,snow , ice etc and these tires have not let us down. We live in the south east so our winter requirements aren’t as extreme but we do drive up to the mountains to snowboard and got caught in a really heavy (for the south) snow storm. We had no problems on our 4 hour drive from North Carolina back to Georgia and it was snow and ice the entire way.
I've had 265 70 toyo open countrys and 285 70 falken wildpeak. The open countrys were quiet i couldn't hear them at all. The Falkens are a little louder but you really have to be concentrating on hearing it.
I put 285/70/17's on stock suspension, got some rubbing on the body mounts and the pinch weld above the body mount and the fender liner, I just chopped the mounts and the pinch weld, re welded and cut the fender liners and a bit of the front bumper, simple. They look dope, and give me some decent clearance.
Alright another GX video. Bu the way DO NOT get the tesla style screen. I have it now and I'm gonna sell it. It has a lot of bugs and it is very slow. Im gonna get a tablet and mount it. It is very annoying although everything works it's just really slow

KRT LYFE your wife mentioned removing the letters in the rear door and removing the rear wiper will give a cleaner look. I rarely use mine.

Yes it opened normally but, it redirects the wind as isn’t as enjoyable.

You didn't have to cut your bumpers or body welds to fit those tires? They must rub a little.
Nope no cuts or body mods. There is a very minor rub in reverse full lock but that is it.

No lift we still need to be able to fit in parking decks.

Definitely more road noise but not a lot. MPGs we haven’t noticed much of a difference but I’m sure they have gone down some.

Alright another GX video. Bu the way DO NOT get the tesla style screen. I have it now and I'm gonna sell it. It has a lot of bugs and it is very slow. Im gonna get a tablet and mount it. It is very annoying although everything works it's just really slow
