Elden Ring -- Beating Malenia as INT Build (NG+3)

I was pretty excited for the gameplay trailer for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, so I decided to do some more runs through the main game. I hadn't done a mage build in a while, so I decided to do that. Here's the fight I had with Malenia with that build.
It's level 130, btw. 40 vigor, 80 int.
Lusat's staff +10 for casting, offhanding staff of loss for the buff to night comet.
Talismans: Godfrey icon, Graven School, Graven Mass, and Magic Scorpion. Flask: Infinite FP tear and Magic Shrouding Tear.
I'm only using night comet and comet azur during this fight. Probably not my best effort. There are some really bad waterfowl dodges in there. I forgot how easy her phase 1 can be when you actually have a good ranged attack and can keep some distance.

She’s one that gives me problems. I don’t think she likes me because she’s way more aggressive towards me. I’m only ng+, but I’m going to beat her before I move on. I’ve always found spiral shard effective, but will try your strategy. Good job

Thanks. It's funny because there are so many spells in the game, but my kit for this entire run consisted only of night comet, shard spiral, Comet Azur, and carian slicer. I'm a big fan of shard spiral, but thought that night comet would be better for this fight. Good luck. I'm sure you'll take her down in no time!

Great job. At the end of my NG+2 I was level 160 and I was still hesitant to take her on. You didn't even use golden vow and you still beat her. Well done man.

Thanks! I tend to not use golden vow or fgms on my builds. Something about taking the time to apply buffs that don't last very long just doesn't jive with me. When I watch those one-shot build guys buffing for a minute straight before every fight, it just gives me anxiety.

Ha! Every time I fight her I reconsider my life choices. If I was a dex build I would have just gotten RoB and spammed her to death with corpse piler. That still works well even after they nerfed the weapon way back when. Clearly I have no shame.

no matter how hard you were struggling if you used a summon its still disappointing and im not saying this offensively because even i needed mimic tear to killl malenia

No offense taken. I understand how some people feel about summons and I accept that. Depending on the day and my mood I'd be just as inclined to agree with your assessment. To be clear this was just me having some fun with a game I really enjoy. It was never my intention to do anything impressive. I've done all sorts of challenge runs before and have reached a point at over 1800 hours in-game where I have lots of fun just using every cheese, glitch, and game mechanic I can think of. This was just a moment of that.
