Their uniforms reminded me of mine when in nursing school many years ago. The length was measured from the heels of our shoes which were the same. So regardless of our different heights we all looked nice when side by side.😊
Hi I believe it is done on rotation. The 5 foot guards take it in turns to do ceremonial duties in London , although Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards and F Company Scots Guards are permanently based at Wellington Barracks. I also think that the Irish Guards have 12 company, who do ceremonial duties as a well. I'm sure there is someone else who will be able to give you better inoformation!
Battalions such as 1 Welsh Guards do not have a PDIC (Public Duties Incremental Company) therefore they are currently on the back end of a 2 year rotation on ceremonial duties. This changes in January 2025 to another Foot Guards battalion, them being; 1 Grenadier Guards, 1 Coldstream Guards, 1 Scot Guards and finally 1 Irish Guards. The Welsh Guards are aided by the PDICs of the Grenadier Guards (Nijmegen Company), Coldstream Guards (No 7 Company), Scot Guards (F Company) and Irish Guards (Numbers 9 & 12 Company) Typically the 1st Battalions of each regiment spend 2 years on ceremonial then go back to the green side of soldering before their next turn on the "blue line" being the nickname for ceremonial duties. However, the period that a battalion spends on ceremonial duties can depend on operational commitments throughout the army
Think I've got this right. Grenadiers guard mount with Coldstream Guards band , led by Welsh Drum Major! I also note it is the Grenadiers Colour and the guards are fixed bayonets. Is that because King Charles is in residence at Buckingham Palace?
I assume you mean the one with the cap with a green band? He is either the Welsh Guards Regimental Sergeant as far as I can tell. I couldn't quite see his rank badge.

Haha
Officers seem to have greatcoats about 3 or 4 inches longer than the other ranks. (I suppose to balance out their extra tall bearskins).
All beautifully turned out. ❤
Guard in charge of cymbals seems to be the most relaxed!
Merry Christmas to all🌲🌲
Merry Christmas to you 🎄
I’ve noticed as of late the Welsh Guards have been featured mounting guard. Can anyone enlighten me as to
how long any unit is assigned this task?

I've noticed that there are up to 3 or 4 regiments assigned to guard the palace every month and they just change between them.

Got it all right except the bayonet bit. All ranks bellow Sergeant have bayonets fixed all the time.
Its the Welsh Guards mounting guard, however you are correct about the band
@@daviddumbraveanu589 The Plt Sgts+ have bayonets fixed on this occasion as the King is in residence when they mounted this guard

The guards Are not scaring anyone . Looks like Disneyland characters with airsofts
Bet if you were a soldier, you wouldn't say that to the RSM.
Bah, Humbug to you. No respect. If you cannot say anything nice, say nothing at all.
Best you crawl back into the hole you came out of - norespect.no respect
Say that to one of them in public and probably you'll find urself spitting out broken teeth
who are they trying to scare...you make no sense. They are supposed to scream, every military does that...
