Bono - at the top his game , such an intense performance from him… the rest of the band are so on point , tightly performing , just fucking awesome , sorry for swearing but that is just what they are
@@eddunne4190 Hey Ed. I'm from the UK and been a diehard U2 fan for 30 years. As soon as they're back on the road I'll be there front and centre. Got to see them in Dublin one day that's for sure! 👍
‘You lose your balance, lose your wife, in the queue for the life boat. Gotta put the women and children first…’ I always think of the titanic for some reason haha
Its brilliant. No one will ever confuse Edge with guys like Jimi Hendrix, Brian May, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc. I don’t mean that as an insult. Thats just not the style of guitarist he is. Having said that… Edge is a sonic architect in ways those guys just aren’t. The only reason I bring this up is in reply to your statement about the atmosphere he creates. He’s as good as anyone not named Jimmy Page in the history of rock at constructing sonic architecture and textured atmosphere using only a guitar. It’s why a lot of times people who aren’t familiar with the band and it’s style think they’re hearing more than one guitarist if they’re listening to a track for the first time.
Jeez, I had so many favourite U 2 songs, i just could,nt pick one, but this is the best, it really is, such brilliant lyrics, 'Gotta put the women & children 1st, but i,ve got an unquenchable thirst', brilliant.
This song reminds me of the difficult and sad days in the aftermath of 911. The war on terror was in full swing. We just flattened Afghanistan, and we were getting ready for the invasion of Iraq. The air was poisoned by Sadness, anger and fear. It was really overwhelming😢
That's old and classic. Because I remember my older brother putting this song on at night, when bono I shouted, "New York* I would too, he'd say, " Shut the f*"K up. You'll waken ma".😂
NY is the only non-disappointing song from ATYCLB. For me, a diehard 80's and 90's U2 fan, this album was a shockingly poor successor to the mighty "Pop", and it pretty much killed my interest in the band. So glad I could see them live during PopMart Tour in 1997. 25 years later and it's still one of the best live shows I've ever attended.
You can tell this track was leftover material from the Pop/Zooropa sessions. Such a unique tune. Love it.
best song on the album for sure

@@eddunne4190 Thanks for the sub dude! Check out my old guitar covers. 👍
The studio version has never been a favorite of mine but what a banger live
"In the stillness of the evening, when the sun has had it's day." He's like Yeats.
'Hit an iceberg in my life, yet i'm still afloat'. Powerful poetry. Hits me every time :)

The atmosphere Edge produces at the start of the song.
the atmosphere Edge creates in every damn second of the song!
New york vibe
