- Amur tiger cubs at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium got to meet the media today. The cubs are 8 weeks old.
Amur tigers are the largest cats in the world, with some weighing nearly 600 pounds. They have been described as possessing all the agility and athleticism of a house cat, but on a frame the size of an industrial refrigerator. They once roamed an area ranging from Siberia to Northern China, but today live almost exclusively in the Amur region of Eastern Russia. There are less than 400 Amur tigers remaining in the wild.
