+Joseph Damiano hell yeah Stalingrad.. this rifle greased vast numbers of the German 6th army , during the battle for the tractor factory Russian snipers held up whole battalions of Wehrmacht regulars and SS .
It would probably rape the poor guys face. I've read stories of the Russians in hand to hand combat using their mosins as a club and destroying the enemy.
***** You haven;t been looking hard enough. Once and awhile CheaperThanDirt gets in surplus, Greek-made, .303 British rounds that were stashed away in an ammo bunker. Each case of surplus comes with anywhere from 450 to 480 rounds for about the same price that 54R spam cans go for. The plus side is that the Surplus greek-made rounds are made with brass casings, so that means you can reload it and make it last even longer.
Claudio Sousa well given that in such a situation that other people are the biggest threat (other than the elements) idk if it would be, a silenced .22 pistol for the walkers, an ak for the people
Parts 1 & 2 are the best Mosin videos on the net! It is comforting to know how tough these things are. I have a 1941, a 1933 hex & an M44 made in 1945. Love my Mosins!
I agree. The Soviets did have a bad reputation for fleeing though. So bad that their own officers were ordered to shoot anyone who abandoned their post. Still won Stalingrad though. Says a lot about the Nazis

Don Gambino more powerful doesn’t mean better, there’s a reason they ditched the 7.62 m14 battle rifle and made the 5.56 M16 and still use the same cartridge today, it goes much faster and has better range, and less recoil
Zak O'Neill I agree but in my opinion I think a 7.62 or a 8mm has a bit more stopping power, I know that the 5.56 has a retarded speed velocity but I feel like the stopping power of the 8mm or 7.62 is something that's underrated. I mean an original that was made from the late 30's to 1945 would run you a shitload of money but you can find modern ones for a real good price. I mean check this site out. They have the real deal (modern but in 7.62x54 caliber) for $169.99 www.cabelas.com/product/Mosin-Nagant-Model-Rifle/710007.uts I mean thats fucking crazy! .22 rifles in my local Walmart cost more. And I just checked Gunbroker.com too and they currently have tons of Mosin Nagants listed for sale with a few at $239.95! Dude I may have to grab one of these for myself too with you! I mean, I could afford that which kind of blows my mind!
+tankmaster1018 What do you mean by real but modern? I do not know of any modern reproduction of the mosin because the originals are still extremely cheap. Original Mosins will run 150 to 300 dollars depending on model and markings.
love your torture tests. Would love to see an Italian vetterli in 6/.5 carcano tested. the net claims this rifle was design to fail shooting the 6.5, even with the history of the rifle serving in two world wars.
I haven't laughed this hard since... From the 'drag around behind the back of my pickup truck', to 'neanderthals beating a bone into submission' with a 2x4 (of course), this is ONE funny good time! Bring your own duct tape.
hey.. Iraqveteran8888. I dont usually get into this youtube stuff, but i find your videos with opinions and reviews of these weapons intelligent and straight on. You dont find that in the majority of the videos. thank you for being a respectable source of weapon knowkledge.
I'm only 14 and I shoot my dads mosin all the time the recoil with normal surplus ammo is not bad you just have to really hug the rifle to your shoulder
That is ignorance, not stupidity. That is why I have taken my Mosin Nagant to an expert to ensure that it is safe to fire and that I understand the firearm. This weapon is stamped and was used in WWII. Awesome video guys, thanks!
I know this video is oooold, but I was just surfing the comments for someone to call Eric out. Dang shooting a rifle with no ear pro?? Very Russian of him.
About 4 years ago I somehow got it into my head that I wanted a bolt action, vintage combat rifle and my budget was tight. I went into a local gun shop and the Mausers and M-14s were out of my price range. The salesman showed me a Mosin, which I'd never heard of and I purchased it for $140. I cleaned off the Cosmoline and tricked it out a tiny bit with a velcro ammo pouch on it, removed the iron sight and put on a cheap scope. I actually enjoy its quirks (e.g. the "sticky bolt") but I don't shoot well with it. At the range my 100 yard group was bout 6-8 inches and I shoot about 1.5 inches with my AR with iron sights. I think I'll put the iron sights back on and give another try. The armory mark is Izhvest (spelling?) 1943 so it's really likely that it was used in WW2 and great to think that it blew some nazi straight to hell.
Unfortunately they're getting quite rare in the US, no one has imported them in a while. Still dirt cheap here in canada though (a new chinese one costs around $150CAD
there's more mosins than there are rats in NY. probably tons in storage in former Warsaw Pact states we don't even know about. 10-15 years ago you could get a mosin for like $60. They're more rare on the market now, but all those guns that were sold are mostly out there still.
when powder charges start reaching 100,000 psi chamber pressure you may have a little sticky bolt the case gets stuck in the bolt lugs or an xploding receiver unless its a mosin notice it cycles just fine with service rounds thanx for using the word sucky I miss that one
These videos kind of make me sad in a way since a gun gets destroyed but at the same time, I can't stop watching them. They are just fascinating and its well worth the sacrifice of a gun once in a while for a video like this!
i restored my 1940 turk 8mm but now i am in the process of sporterizing it.i'm gonna cut the barrel from around 28" to around 17". should shoot some nice fireballs and kick more as well.i am waiting on my crowning tools to come in before i start.
The 7.62x54R was used in machine guns at a significantly higher pressure than was spec’d for infantry rifles, and the 91/30 was designed to not explode if fed those rounds
NoJBro They said at the beginning that it was a parts gun, maybe it had a broken extractor or something. Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't notice that before.
Wow every one calm down mosins are cheap guns that there is a ton of here in the us they are 100-200 bucks but truely this makes me sick just braking a gun like this i was allways tought to treat and care for all firearms with respect and treat them care
popped up in my suggested list, first IV8888 video I ever watched. to be honest, it was barrys beard that lured me in. 1 month later, bought my first 91/30. miss ya barry
EXCELLENT torture test! I have a 1921 Mosin and now, I KNOW it's a safe rifle! Of course, I will never do to it what you are doing to that one, first because it's an antique and second because the one I have is super accurate! Thanks, guys! So sorry for the loss we all took when Barry died! May he live forever in our memories!
Im pretty abusive to my mosin compared to other guns in the way i throw it around and use it as a hammer sometimes (and sometimes use the back of the bolt as a hammer) but this was pretty bad
8:24 hah what difference will taping the gun to the holder make? The thing came off the table because the holder wasn't heavy enough, not the mosin being unstable. I think that dish shape is so that you can put sand or pebbles in to make it heavier. How can you not realise this.
as someone who is picking his first gun up in the next few days, which is a Mosin '43 PU with matching scope, the first 2 minutes already pain me, even though I know how durable the rifle is. this is gonna be a LOOONG video
+The turtle Of doom YOU WANT TO KNOW IF IT'S POSSIBLE IF THE 70+ YEAR OLD RIFLE WILL BLOW UP IN YOUR FACE,,,,,,,MOSIN'S ARE BAD ASS,,,,PROVEN HERE TO BE RELIABLE,,,

incredible... Nothing can beat Russian Engineering they're the same guys that when we spent millions on engineering pens for space...they just used pencils... remember that
Mosins were actually designed to fire a black powder cartridge with a 210.4 grain round nose bullet that had a zinc jacket. If your gonna fire black powder cartridges you should always look for a proof mark, though. It looks a bit like a "y".
When he bashed in that cinder block it occurred to me how many people had their brains bashed in by an angry Russian with an empty Mosin-Nagant.

In movies I always see people using the butt of the gun to hit somebody and I always think " does it really hurt or can it break any bones". When I saw him break the cinder block, I was in awe
Yeah, old heavy guns like these are pretty much clubs that just so happen to shoot bullets as well.
SimplePhil club or gun? Why not get an older gun and kill two birds with one stone
Military guns are robust. We have a K98 and its is heavy. The recoil isn't that bad because it is so heavy, even though its shooting an 8mm. It could easily do some damage if used as a club.
you need some guns. or like at least hold one or two. that would answer if it would hurt to get beat with a gun

Aye, recoil dispersion is part of why older, higher caliber rifles are so heavy.

Moist Nugget is my favorite rifle by far. RIP Barry, I never go on this channel much but your participation in these vids helped make them enjoyable
Moist nugget ?
Hehe moist nugget
David Garcia Keep /k/ meme's on /k/
Torture test an SKS
good idea
Unfortunately they're getting quite rare in the US, no one has imported them in a while. Still dirt cheap here in canada though (a new chinese one costs around $150CAD
Online, or gun store?
Online, look up the ammo source or canada ammo
David M.
Thanks!
I love goin back to old vids to see Barry again....
Do that cinder block test with a loaded SKS.
Mosin Nagants: Because the only thing stronger than a russian soldier, is his rifle.
I cannot belive what i just saw... Mosin Nagant is one of my all time favorite bolt action rifles, and you guys destroy it...
this makes me feel so bad watching such a beautiful piece of history get brutally damaged.
there's more mosins than there are rats in NY. probably tons in storage in former Warsaw Pact states we don't even know about. 10-15 years ago you could get a mosin for like $60. They're more rare on the market now, but all those guns that were sold are mostly out there still.
I ran 300 rounds through mine, and it only got slightly sticky, not even that noticeable. Yours must be a sucky one...
yea but the ammo their using is not for the Mosin, their using ammo that's too strong for the gun
when powder charges start reaching 100,000 psi chamber pressure you may have a little sticky bolt the case gets stuck in the bolt lugs or an xploding receiver unless its a mosin notice it cycles just fine with service rounds thanx for using the word sucky I miss that one
Obviously the gun can easily keep up
These videos kind of make me sad in a way since a gun gets destroyed but at the same time, I can't stop watching them. They are just fascinating and its well worth the sacrifice of a gun once in a while for a video like this!
I miss old man barry :/
same
will you do a mauser 8mm torture test please?
i restored my 1940 turk 8mm but now i am in the process of sporterizing it.i'm gonna cut the barrel from around 28" to around 17". should shoot some nice fireballs and kick more as well.i am waiting on my crowning tools to come in before i start.
keep an eye out on ebay. you might get lucky.
sorry. my knowledge on old weapons is very limited.
byron fox Just curious but why do you want it to kick more?
The 7.62x54R was used in machine guns at a significantly higher pressure than was spec’d for infantry rifles, and the 91/30 was designed to not explode if fed those rounds
In America you tourture test guns in Soviet Russia guns tourture test YOU
Hahahahahaha you made my day
+Ben Gunn I'm glad to hear that
Good test but why wasnt it ejecting the spent rounds???
Because the cases were expanding and getting stuck due to the stupid crazy pressures inside the chamber.
TheTechnoman7 but why wasnt it ejecting the normal service loads?
exactly my point. lol just another keyboard ranger is why I didnt even respond lol
NoJBro They said at the beginning that it was a parts gun, maybe it had a broken extractor or something. Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't notice that before.
yep thats what my thought was, oh well
Rest in peace Barry, you're missed. Love the nostalgic video
russian firearm are the most reliable....
not the fake chinese made...
Ingvar Z Not always true. The Type-56 just turned out to be a much improved version of the AK-47 while maintaining it's Russian reliability
Wow every one calm down mosins are cheap guns that there is a ton of here in the us they are 100-200 bucks but truely this makes me sick just braking a gun like this i was allways tought to treat and care for all firearms with respect and treat them care
wasnt it a torture test though, their not just braking the gun for no reason
popped up in my suggested list, first IV8888 video I ever watched. to be honest, it was barrys beard that lured me in. 1 month later, bought my first 91/30. miss ya barry
lol its 33% over maximum load. but very informativ video! liked.
Why are they trying to break a fucking mosin nagant
there were 37 million made, they are not running out any time soon.
UN is trying to destroy the mosins
+Shaan Yadav Do you not understand what "torture test" means?? They are testing the limits of the rifle, to see what it can handle.
These old guns are so cool. The fact that 100s of years after they were made, they are still super accurate and good stopping power
how bout you torture test that Ford lol
So the MN is a solid jackhammer. Good to know.
Cyphrix101 lol
EXCELLENT torture test! I have a 1921 Mosin and now, I KNOW it's a safe rifle!
Of course, I will never do to it what you are doing to that one, first because it's an antique and second because the one I have is super accurate!
Thanks, guys! So sorry for the loss we all took when Barry died! May he live forever in our memories!
This was almost painful to watch I would never do this to my mosin you would need superman to hold me down if any one would do a torture test to mine
Im pretty abusive to my mosin compared to other guns in the way i throw it around and use it as a hammer sometimes (and sometimes use the back of the bolt as a hammer) but this was pretty bad
Russian gun will survive Siberian Weather,Russian Potato, And even Russian tank so buy this gun
8:24 hah what difference will taping the gun to the holder make? The thing came off the table because the holder wasn't heavy enough, not the mosin being unstable. I think that dish shape is so that you can put sand or pebbles in to make it heavier. How can you not realise this.
pretty sure they didn't want to jack around with sand and pebbles!!!
In mother Russia mosan nagant fire you
in soviet Russia... Mosin tortures YOU!!
For some reason this video popped up. Man, I miss Barry!!! These were the good days of Iraqveteran8888.
I understand the premise of the test, but I threw up a little when he drug it behind the truck.
I would not fire that gun after dragging it.
Poor gun
lol p
RockerGuy0001 i would
as someone who is picking his first gun up in the next few days, which is a Mosin '43 PU with matching scope, the first 2 minutes already pain me, even though I know how durable the rifle is. this is gonna be a LOOONG video
Put in a 20mm in that thing!
why would you torture this beautiful gun?
It's his property he can do whatever he wants to it
2G33kzGaming Slavery Logic....
+The turtle Of doom YOU WANT TO KNOW IF IT'S POSSIBLE IF THE 70+ YEAR OLD RIFLE WILL BLOW UP IN YOUR FACE,,,,,,,MOSIN'S ARE BAD ASS,,,,PROVEN HERE TO BE RELIABLE,,,
my grandpa has a original Mosin original wood and everything he has had it for a long time my great grandpa passed it down
DayZ brought me here!
Same!
anyone else see a vote shillary add in the middle of this video? friggin yt garbage adds. lets put another criminal in the whitehouse. sounds like a great idea. TrumpPence16
An m44 was my first gun, this honors the rifles beyond imagination. I'm now a subscriber.
incredible...
Nothing can beat Russian Engineering
they're the same guys that when we spent millions on engineering pens for space...they just used pencils... remember that
It hurts me on another level, I don't know why I came back to this video.
Mosins and Kalashnikovs are balls out rifles that ain't gonna give up the ghost before you do.
Mosins were actually designed to fire a black powder cartridge with a 210.4 grain round nose bullet that had a zinc jacket. If your gonna fire black powder cartridges you should always look for a proof mark, though. It looks a bit like a "y".
