2024 is an exciting new adventure. The new homestead sounds amazing. Best of all is your new location, bet you have many growing plans ahead. Stay safe. Love your videos.

Exciting times! Thank you for the walkabout. You have a huge piece of property. Someday will you take us on a walk into the gorge? I imagine it looks very different than the bluff where you plan to build. It would be nice to bee in the gorge. Also, it would be nice to see the little stream.
The bluff is an ideal location to trial an inexpensive 400 watt wind turbine as a booster for your PV system. Timeline Ranch has had surprising success (the 24/7/365 turbine 'trickle' does add up) in an area that is far more sheltered than you will be.
So I'm gathering that you plan to take the soft rock where you want garden beds/pasture/etc. and turn it into living soil as you have demonstrated and trialed at Woodhouse? Bring on the organic materials big time!
    All the best 😊

Thanks. I'll do a gorge tour for you when we get some rains again. I love the wind turbine idea and @capelandpermaculture5808 recently did the same. It can't hurt.
As for the soil, indeed. I think (and it seems so) that we have a different, nicer soil this side. It looks like there was life or a homestead here in the 1800s and perhaps because there's better soil here. But this time, we will start to prepare the soil ahead of time! 😁
      Thanks for popping in Steve.

@@SimpleEarthSelfReliance It's my pleasure to share in your progress. I suppose with the road in place, there is no reason that you can't continue to grow on the soil that you have built at Woodenhouse, right?
Thanks for the tip to Capeland. I like his projects and I subscribed. He quotes under 5000 rand ($267 USD) for a 400 watt wind turbine (WT). That price makes it an affordable investment for everyone off grid with prevailing wind.
I'm looking forward to seeing you build soil from scratch at the new inland site.
      Cheers! 😉

Can't wait to see the plans in motion! I know you have probably said before but what is the approximate size of the property?

Hi John, Sorry I did not see your comment until now.
Glad you're in it with us! Size is somewhere between 75 and 85, depending on the source of information. The deed, the mappers, the surveyors etc, can't seem to agree. We're using the core parts for sustaining life, and the outside perimeters to assist wildlife being chased/trapped/hunted on some bordering properties.
