Good luck! I hear the testing process has changed in the last few years but hopefully the spirit of the school hasn’t. Whatever happens, try your best :)
Hi! If you remember, could you please elaborate on how GIV/Girls in Volunteering works and what they do? Also, how does the SRC system work? Both of these sound really interesting to me but I can't seem to find much about them online >< thank you in advance!!
Hi! I've not been in that school for like 4 years but roughly, GIV does different projects like gathering gift packets for single parents on mothers/fathers days, do random bits of volunteering projects around the school or community etc. The SRC system functions as a student-focused government: they take the student body's opinions into account, take complaints, take suggestions, all that stuff, and discuss amongst themselves and put the most important issues with the principal and relevant governing parties such as a parent's association or school board. That's from what I can remember, but you could probably find the SRC's insta account if you wanna ask them more.
HAHA no i should have mentioned that it was just a personal thing i picked up. i WISH macrob had an ice skating club fam. Who knows? Someone may watch this and decide to start one up :)
I’m looking to go to macrob for year 9 and the clubs sound so good! I highkey want to try so many, how many do you think you could do (without kicking out studying)? I play badminton already so I’m looking at that, I also really want to try the cheerleading. Maybe also join an ensemble (I play flute) and a musical some year? I’m also interested in IT club or debating. LOL SORRY FOR THE LONG LIST I def won’t do all of them, any suggestions for good ones? TY AND SORRY FOR THE LONG RANT
Hi! Definitely understand your excitement, there’s lots to do in high school other than studying. The norm at macrob is to use your first year to figure out what clubs you’re really into without absolutely committing to one or the other, so you can join literally everything you’re interested in. However I’d advise against joining absolutely every club on that list of yours during the first semester. Trying dividing them between first and second semester, but some things (musical especially) only have one “intake” so keep and eye out for those!
this is so helpful, because I might get into macrob (I'm doing the test this year), thank you :)
Same!
Glad it helps! Info might be a little out of date but hopefully the just-do-it culture isn’t dead yet. Best of luck :)
