Heya, thanks for that, your comment made my day :) Congratulations on getting it! It may be a rowdy bunch, but you'll find tons of likeminded people there, hope you'll enjoy 2023!
@@-mudblood-484 yess, but i know the tests have changed a bit, but ill try my best. for reading comp and maths, make sure you know the "formulas" - just understand a variety of topics. but for the reasonings just make sure you practice a lot. and DONT BE NERVOUS ON THE DAY. I made sure i was confident and i think that made all the difference 😊
This was so helpful! If I get into macrob then I would need to take a lot of time to travel to school as well. Do you have any tips for me? Also, what happens to students who do not have much music experience?
Yoo just find out what you want to do on your way to school. For me, i just slept, either that or listen to music. But reading could work for you, or listening to an audiobook. Or also sleeping XD Really, just find out early on what makes you the most comfortable, whether that be energy saving or using your time productively, for the ride to school. And if you don't have much music experience, either you can start from scratch (which macrob is super supportive of!) or join a sport team/debate/theatre/club, anything you want.
Not really sure what its like now sorry :') was good when i was there, we had enough high level strings that they could make a chamber strings ensemble of about 16 ish players
Hi, not gonna lie, i just did all the practice tests I could find online. Maybe that works for you maybe it doesn't. Just brush up on your maths and you'll be fine :)
It's a public school, so no fees, but if there are school camps in year 9 and 10, and music camps and stuff, those you'd have to pay for if you wanna go :) umm i guess the most upfront cost would be the uniform, which you can get second hand and sell off after y12, and the textbooks (which you can buy at a very much discounted price if you just searched the right places winkwinkwinkwinkwink)
@@bitsnthingsomg I know this comment is 5 years old but my dad was forcing me not to accept because 'we dont know if it's expensive' so ur actually a lifesaver tysm Although apparently public schools still cost a lot for them, so idk, but I will take ur word for it, i mean, public transport fees will suck as well, but that the only fee that i wouldn't need to pay at other school (except uniform but I feel that can be bought over time)
You can do your working out on the question paper, pretty sure. You’ll have to double check on the day but they won’t leave you high and dry without any working out space.
PLEASE READ IN THE 0.00001% CHANCE U SEE THIS Is this video still relevant? cuz i have like 3 days to decide if i wanna go or not and i am VERY on the fence because: -my current school is very good for a public school, but i dont live in its zone so they wont let me back if i dont like macrob -my dad, for whatever reason, is super against letting me go -i obviously live far away. BUT my three best friends are going, and i REALLY want a fresh start away from the kids i knew in primary school. If this video is in fact up to date then it sounds great for me! But schools environments easily change in the span of a few years, and i would also like to hear other thoughts (perhaps even negative ones) from CURRENT students.
I'm like crying myself to sleep because i have no idea what to do and my dad really hates the idea of sending me to the city every day, and not allowing my younger sister to go to my current school, he also said it's too big of a change, so may I ask if it was a very disrupting change in ur life as well?
@@winternetnerd I feel bad for you, you shouldn't be upset after getting into such an amazing school with a wonderful reputation. You worked hard and you should have been celebrating :(( By the way, is he not able to send you to the train station every day if that's what you mean?? Because many people go by train or bus to MacRob so parents don't need to directly drop off there. (Hope I didn't misunderstand you comment.) I understand why you must be in conflict, big changes like this is incredibly stressful, ik I can't give advice as I got in just like you this year - but I have heard from current sources that the staff there are incredible & super helpful but only if you ask for the support - but what truly drives the school forward is the student support! There is probably peer pressure from what people say, but from my sources, not many have talked about it and that the stress from that will go away after you get used to the schools' ways (but then again, it depends how you deal with the pressure if the top 10% of Australian students.) This video should be mostly accurate except maybe the Male Toilet thing - idk if it is still the same. Honestly it's your life - not your dad's, you're the one studying in these schools. However, it is also understandable why you would be affect by what's happening with your family. I hope whatever decision you make, you will move on from it. And besides, you can always withdraw from the school's offers if it doesn't work out!! Even if you accept the offer, you can message Acer to withdraw from it. That's all, I'm 8 days late and I'm not a current student so that might be annoying..but I feel bad that you're under this stress and nobody is here to help you, so I hope that whatever you have chosen is the right decision for you🫶 All the best if you are my future classmate!!
@@interstellxr_1111 Well I had to accept by this point, otherwise it would be expired xD. I did end up going and i kinda calmed down. I'm gonna miss the chaos of my current school but tbh i think its a fair trade off to go to a really good school like this. About the train station thing, my dad is just overprotective and scared to let me go on the train on my own, but we did a practise run and it turns out it's 'easier than he thought' lol
@@interstellxr_1111 Yep! When next school year comes around i will probably come back and ask your name or something, just to see if we did end up in the same class xD
the school? not at all. If you're talking about an ensemble tho, you either have to take lessons if you're playing a completely new instrument, or already know how to play one.
Hi! I haven't been in touch with them for quite some time, so I can't say for sure. However, since COVID is a thing and I know MacRob did do online classes for those lockdowns, it would be prudent to at least have a phone you could use to connect to Google classroom, or Zoom or something. Please check with the school yourself! I am in no way still "up to date" with the entire schooling situation at MacRob XD here's a nice link to current students who may be able to help (you can clearly see the bias for music lmao): instagram.com/macrob.musos/
This is an awesome review, I really want to go to Macrob now
