The blue version is not "Tiffany" blue, more a pale blue, I'm looking at it. The metal case is not plated, it's a full metal shroud that replaces the resin shroud in other 2100 models. Casio has done this before, the small GM-S2100 series targeted at women has a very similar but smaller shroud. The "bio-resin" is made from castor oil (extracted from castor seeds), we can make plastics from castor oil just like we make plastics from mineral oil.
That sapphire shatters more easily is a myth that Seiko has been telling us for decades in order to justify Hardlex on the cheaper models. If you make sapphire only a fraction thicker than its Hardlex counterpart, it won't shatter much faster. I‘ve been told :-) Meanwhile, sapphire doesn't cost much more than mineral glass. Although I personally don't mind mineral glass.
I believe this is a beautiful watch. I have the light blue version and it is very comfortable to wear. My only complaint so far is the steel case easily scratches. Just the same, I get lots of compliments and it’s actually feature filled with a great presence on the wrist.
@@gatobakuniano Watch nerds are only second to gamers when it comes to their love for overpaying and bran fanboyinsm. To me japanese wacthmaking is dead.
They already have a full metal version. GMB 2100 with solar and bluetooth. They also released a full metal without solar and bluetooth recently Gm 2110d.
I had a metal Casioak, but the negative display was unreadable to my eyes, so I sold it again. So of the two versions I would only consider the black one, though I find the green dial more interesting.
I just bought one (the blue one) because they are like sports/dress up or down watch and combo of solar and Bluetooth is real boon for me. Waiting for delivery, so might say more when it arrives. I definately prefers to the all metal versions, which have been reported to be on the bulky and heavy side of G-Shock. I understand the reticence about G-Shock for a long time I avoided them - just seemed plasticy and gimmicky but I'm a convert now and I consider them ALL the watch a person will really need! Shock horror I know.....
Ive just got the black version .i nearly bought the green had both in my hand at the same time and for me the black just pops so much more and is easier to read with the positive lcd. Ive got 6 2100s now this my second half metal .and this is by far the best version yet i love it .
The green one looks nice but they ruined it with the negative display. I went with the Blue one and I'm very happy with it, the black one is also nice but a bit boring.
I'm interested in the blue as well but have doubts when the black or yellow resin case models are little more than half its price for essentially the same function. So you're paying a hefty premium just for looks. And this premium won't reduce anytime soon due to demand.
I wavered between the prettier blue one and the "boring" black one, but decided in favour of the black one because of its legibility. And I still think it's deadly chic.
I have a black and yellow resin version with the Bluetooth and tough solar. I’ve always liked g shock watches and have a few others but I really like this range as they are a lot smaller than most g shocks. I like the big chunky ones but nice to have one that’s a bit more subtle. Bluetooth is excellent for syncing with watch to keep time spot on. I’m very keen to get one of these steel versions now they’ve finally added Bluetooth and solar
Ben, to move the hands away from the digital display screen, you have to push the upper right button and the lower left button simultaneously. I have 2 of them, not these new ones but the gun muted color metal case with the green military nato strap and tha black one too. They are absolutely beautiful and very robust. Not one scratch since 2 years of wearing them. The negative display is horrible that's why I was looking into the blue icy version you're talking about because of the positive display, the hands legibility and the tough solar. By the way, even on your skinny wrist, they look great and not at all too big for you. Thanks for the review.
I think I might be wrong here but I've heard saphire is easy to shatter when dropped and I suppose it's also a problem under 200meter water pressure. Maybe?
These version are Hybrid CasiOak(Bluetooth) which are slight improvement. Casio Japan just announced GM-2110D CasiOak (Steel but Non-Bluetooth) variants with 5 colors options but all with positive digital display!
I have the non green one you have and the one with the white strap and black body, which is lovely. I am really pleased with both. I like the new once with the rainbow effect but they seem very expensive to me, for a non bluetooth non solar Casioak. For the hand shift function press the top right button and the bottom left button at the same time.
Ben while looking at the dial: I think this one has Bluetooth, yeah right it says here on the back ... FIVE MINUTES LATER ... Ben actually looking at the dial: I definitely don't like that it says Bluetooth on the dial Make up your mind Ben
I have 3 ga-2100 series models now, and this one does not look special. My all models are modded by myself, two with silicon straps, but... when I bought gm-2100 which was similar to this one, it looked at felt better than modded version. Strap and looks was just the best. I miss that. Gm versions have nice looking dials too.
Metal case just defeated the purpose of being G shock! The green dial with black LED window is just hard to read. Looks good? yes, functionalities?yes. Not for me but I guess many will find it awesome!
I LOVE its look, and I really want a solar metal one but it’s too expensive. It’s gonna take a while to invest in one since I’m in college but can’t wait to get one 😍

G Shock won’t tend to use sapphire as it’s way more prone to shattering than mineral glass, which is NOT what you want from a shock resistant watch.
Ye, but people who wear the fancier g shocks don’t really tend to involve themselves in extreme sapphire-shattering activities
@@hazardous401speak for yourself I want one of these to work in

Jesus, Casio. How expensive is it to make a steel case??? Even the cheapest junk from China has steel case.
And a steel bracelet?
It is outrageous that a 90$ watch can cost 600$ when it comes in a metal case and bracelet...

Check out the GST b600.
I'm surprised Ben hasn't checked out the GST-B600 line of G-Shocks yet, particularly the GST-B600D-1A the slimmest G-Steel to date.

@johndoe-vc1we the metal version looks more premium and expensive on the wrist. I got mine for £165, the resin model is £99.

It's not a plating. It's a metal bezel(casing) but I get what you're saying.

Yeah Ben... how DARE you get something wrong in these videos that we don't pay you anything for.
Very nice looking

02:37 we all know what it is :( All in all it's a cash grab, not worth the money
It's not plated. It's a separate piece of steel screwed to the shock resistant carbon core.
So shelled or capped like a G-steel would be more appropriate
And so much so that the metal ones don't need or have the carbon core. As the back of this one does'nt say carbon core, it means steel bezel.
