I tried this several times and it says that there is no update available but their website lists a more current firmware version. So I downloaded those files and tried to install them manually via USB, but when I insert the USB it only gives me Photo, Music, or Video choices and no options to access files.
I had exactly the same issue, to make it work you must extract/unzip the firmware update file. Folder on the USB drive must be named "LG_DTV". You should get a prompt once you put in the USB drive, and switch the TV on.
Took me a while to get this to work, very frustrating, would recommend Samsung over LG TV's they just work without any issues. Good luck

Dude, nice video. You don’t have to scroll down all the way to the bottom to get alt settings. Just hit the up arrow while at the top and it will go to the bottom.

Not getting much help From LG, so i decided to Reset the TV to its default status. Of course your going to come across some snags, mine came with the internet connection. For some reason it could not find a way to connect to my wiFi or wired Network connections, and so without that, the rest is useless. I am writing this on my pc nearby with both connections, so i do not know why it can't find either one. I went thru the usual process, unplug Modem, Router and even the TV as suggested...still no internet.
U can try to connect to ur hotspot on ur phone see if that works.

I don’t have “About this TV” on mine. I do have “Allow for automatic updates” and when clicked on it indicates something like cannot proceed, unable to load, not available or some such. Very frustrating! Ready to return tv. And the really frustrating thing? This tv and all the apps worked perfectly for six months. After an LG software update is when all the problems started.
Hey maybe late but you need to click support once you are in general and then it says software update I just did it

Factory reset your TV is the easiest way. It's in the same options page this guy is on. Usually at the bottom of the options in about this tv. If it's not there, just keep looking for it.
