RTX is a gimmick. it was a gimmick when it launched, and it's a GIMMICK now. Jensen said on stage at the launch of Turing "120+ RTX games within 18 months! And HUNDREDS more older games to be patched with RTX!". That was a complete, utter lie (obviously). 18 months later there was just 23 RTX games, and some of those were Minecraft, and Doom and Quake 2 (20+ year old games). The VAST majority of people wouldn't sacrifice 30-40% of their FPS in order to have shiny reflective floors. That's a fact. And you can say "Well you can use DLSS and Frame Gen (tm) to compensate....". The vast majority of gamers dont want to spend £500+ on a new GPU only to be forced to run games at 720p upscaled, or use fake input lag inducing frames, just to run RTX features. 720p is a mid 2000''s resolution, 1080p was standard back im 2009/2010. I'll take 1440p native with 100fps, over 720p upscaled with fake frames and "RTX"(tm) any day of the week. If you want my credentials, look at the few videos on my channel, im an ex-division 1 Quake player in Europe. We are still A LONG WAY away from any meaningful RTX implementation as standard. If only the most expensive cards, like the 4080 and 4090 and 7900XTX series, can run RTX at decent FPS, that means less than 5% of all PC gamers in the world can even enjoy that feature. When entry level cards and mid range cards can do this, so a few generations from now, THEN the consoles will also be able to do this - and THEN developers will start to focus on RTX.
