A dentist explained to me why he uses 3 types of toothbrushes. He said he did an experiment, and ate some hard type of candy, then, he brushed first with an electric toothbrush on the flat parts of his teeth, and then right after used the stiffest tooth brush only the the flat parts of his teeth, and noticed immediately how tons of candy still came off his flat parts after using the electric prolifically on the flat parts, so he said he always uses the stiff brush first and then the electric and then he said he finishes with the softest manual brush on all the gums, so, I've been doing just as that dentist told me what he did, for the last 35 years and I've not had a cavity since, anyhow, great video Whitney, thanks!😊ps: and recently, I'm thinking, it makes tons of sense to floss first and then brush, as I've seen car size particles of food fly out after brushing first, thinking, hmm, if that chunk of food was in there and came out after brushing, then how in the heck can the soft bristles get to the tooth surface it was blocking, hmm, just an interesting observation I think dentists ought to consider mentioning.
I want to thank you Whitney. You got me to floss this evening. I had a little streamer of blood but not too painful. I'm using Sensodyne for gums and gingivitis. I left the toothpaste on after electric brushing with model 1000 pro. By oral B. It's on charge right now it was running down. I also used the ribbon floss by oral b running it through a pea sized drop of sensodyne. So this was the first time I imbibed the floss with toothpaste. I just dont care for the saccharin sweetness that's all. Guess what? I can breath a little better through my nose. Your an angel! Thank you! I think I can continue flossing from now on. It's really tight back in the molars but I got through it. I'm thinking of having my teeth cleaned as it's been close to four years now. Anyway, bless you I did it! My mouth feels so clean. Tomorrow I'm pulling out the waterpik. I skipped it tonight. Bye for now. My sincere thanks!😅
Also - consuming certain foods as you age, assist with enamel or tooth erosion like nuts: the hard chomping gets serious business. And why many older adults I know gave those up ages ago. And hard candies... NOPE. Be kind to your teeth
Hi whitney, I live in the UK, and skope to a trainee dentist who lives in my area has been to Japan in the last couple of weeks and watched how a new drug been injected into the socket of animals who have lost teeth and noticed their teeth are growing back. The drug in in clinical trials in Children. The drug works in the principle how sharks can replace teeth after they have been lost. This drug will help thousands of people to get their teeth back after extraction or lost due to age.
Years long grinder here. “Fix the root cause” you said😅 Its not that easy. So far science has no clear solution to it. The data actually suggests that containers are currently the best solution. p.s. I got a Master in medical technology and learned medical statistics for research
1:25 About that slouching thing, lack of upper back mucsle is what causes slouching. Forcing to sit up straight all the time will just strain your back. Any posture gurus here correct me if im wrong
The only time I unintentionally ground my teeth was when I was on antidepressants and I did it in my sleep. Every night. It would keep my wife awake and I obviously couldn't help it. My sister was on the same medication and as soon as we stopped taking that particular medication, we stopped grinding our teeth
Is it bad to chew too much gum even if they are sugar free? I have a habit of using 2 gums at once every time I chew gum. And I tend to chew gum at least 2/3 times a day
Yes you can! But make sure rinse your mouth with water after that.. may use xylotol gum after that.. and eat it all once is pretty good rather then put the chocolate in your mouth for whole day😅 And didn't forget to brush twice and good💁♀️🤷♀️..
I know this isn’t really relevant to the video but I’m getting a filling soon and was wondering if you can get laughing gas when you get a filling because I’m really nervous to get the shot and I’m not good with needles.
How will I know if I stop grinding my teeth? The only reason I know I grind my teeth is because I broke one but I have never had headaches or jaw pain.
i brush my teeth immediately after consuming a sugar item like chocolate or cake or ice cream, because my teeth feels sore and uncomfortable when in contact with sugar so i think it can't wait

Get a over the counter Nightguard!
@@maytelopez2852 I can't I have Invisalign.

It’s generally recommended to wait about 30 minutes after eating before brushing your teeth.
You do more damage brushing immediately, if you can’t wait at least 30 minutes to an hour before brushing I’d recommend eliminating sugar in general.
Bad habit #5, looks like that’s another benefit that fasting has. No food = better dental health 🦷✅.
If soft brushes are so highly recommended, why do they even make medium and hard brushes?
Cheaper
As she says cigarettes are bad for health but why do companies sell them cause the just care about money...
yep! if people buy them, they will sell them. here's my video that explains: th-cam.com/users/shorts10prCJOpkuI
Hi
hi!
If using medium or hard bristle toothbrushes is bad, then why on earth do they even sell those types at all?! 😂
(I do use a soft toothbrush myself.)
