19:43 as hysterical as this scene was with Dick Van Dyke and Barbara Bain, it would've been more hysterical IMO when Dorothy pulled out Rob's picture out of the frame, Martin Landau (her RL husband at that time) was underneath 😂
The humor on this show was so organic & perfect for it’s time. It’s why the *same* humor never worked for shows like ‘Til Death’ or the show ‘Freddie’ staring Freddie Prince Jr., or any other failed sitcoms that are lost in obscurity.
Rob breaks up with her in the story and she gets mad like it's impossible for a man not to love her LMAO!! I was surprised when Rob said she was the one who actually broke up with him in real life.
Sam was Rob's best friend but, then, he disappeared so quickly that a guy who looks like his twin brother used to shine a light on him on stage was completely forgotten, as well. Poor Sam. And Poor Sol, too- also disappeared. And Jerry was with Millie in some of the military episodes and not yet with her in others- yet, not yet Rob's best friend. Lots of inconsistencies- but still the best sitcom of all time :)
The biggest one of them all - in the first season, Laura's surname is mentioned as Meeker (also Mary Tyler Moore's husband's surname), but in later seasons, it becomes Meehan. In the episode Long Night's Journey into Day, Jerry refers to himself as Dr.. Jerome Helper. But in the episode All About Eavesdropping, Rob calls him Gerald.
@@preetakumar6593 They never expected that 60 + years later, people would love the show so much that they would be watching it regularly on their phones in the bathroom and on their laptops :) So they were loose with 'continuity.' For example, I think this episode is the ONLY one where they mention Millie's maiden name: Crumbermacher? And Barbara Bain (the one who played Dorothy)'s real name, interestingly, was Mildred. She married Martin Landau. There were also so many actors/actresses playing double/triple roles- like Carl Reiner himself, Jerry Paris, Bill Idelson and Valerie Yerke who played Cynthia Harding in the Bob Crane episode / Diane Moseby as the reporter in MY HUSBAND IS THE BEST ONE / Miss Thomas in THREE LETTERS FROM ONE WIFE

The one that always drove me the craziest, was that she goes into labor in their old apartment, but actually has Richie once they have moved to Bonnie meadow road, the house they buy. That's got to be the fastest move on record:-).
Allan Melvin again! Played Cpl Henshaw in The Phil Silvers Show/Sgt Bilko. Hillbilly Whiz being a great episode from perhaps the best written and performed US sitcom ever made!
@@michaelrwilson007 Gomer Pyle was a character played by actor and singer Jim Nabors on The Andy Griffith Show. His bit was to have a high voice and cornpone accent but when he sang his voice was flawlessly professional and lovely. Nabors has more than 30 records to his name. He was so good he got a spinoff in which the premise was that he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and drove his drill instructor Sgt. Carter nuts. Allan Melvin had a recurring role in that. Episode aired Jan 16, 1963 - Trivia: Rob talks about going back to Danville, Illinois to tell his old girlfriend he can't marry her. Dick Van Dyke grew up in Danville, Illinois. Barbara Bain (born Mildred Fogel, September 13, 1931) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Cinnamon Carter Crawford on the action television series Mission: Impossible (1966-1969) She as married to Martin Landau (1928-2017) from 1957-1993. They have two daughters, film producer Susan Landau Finch and actress Juliet Landau.
Millie traded up from 'Krumbermacher' to 'Helper' when she married Jerry. Laura went from initially detesting Rob, to being madly in love with him, in a very short time. Such is the nature of sitcom flashbacks, I suppose.
THE CAST OF MISSION IMPOSSIBLE CERTAINLY GAVE VERY LAUGHS WHEN WATCHED THIS HAHAHAHAHAHA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 , MARTIN LANDAU ; BARBARA BAIN ; GREG MORRIS ; PETER LUPUS ; PETER GRAVES AND OTHER GAVE VERY LAUGH AT SEE THIS SCENE HAHAHAHAHA KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
19:04 reminds me of a phone call I got from my ex fiancé when she found out I got married. She was mad at me, even though it was HER that ended the engagement for no reason. Seemed like she was mad I wound up happy after all, was mad she missed out, or both. I’m GLAD I was rid of her completely and happily married to another, better woman!
Don DiFonso One of my pet peeves in '60s television is the way they typically kept the hairs styles of the '60s even when doing period pieces. The worst offenders are Westerns, to my mind. Teased hair? What would the pioneers have thought of that! That a rat made its nest in there?
Why would this worry you? It's a sitcom, not a historical drama. They could only have changed it for something uglier anyway and hair cut off takes time to grow back. They were on a tight schedule too of course. As I recall, MTM did have a short hairstyle in another show and later said that no-one would look at her until it grew back again. If you remember The Avengers, you will know that they ruined Linda Thorson's hair, trying to make it look different from Diana Rigg's.
I think Mary was a thousand times prettier than any of the guest female stars on the show. They would always dress her in loose and frumpy clothes around them.
Any young woman who looked like Barbara and lived in a small town, would run away so fast she would have forgotten where she was born. My opinion is that she looked better than MTM…no sass! Laura wouldn’t have been so insecure at the end about her sexiness (that’s more of a male trait).
Love Laura. She was young , cute and elegant,. She looked like a model. Rob and Laura were made for each other .
i thought rob was a coward and a ninny. Jerry was manly.
I ❤ Dick Van Dyke is still alive loved this.

I think that was a mistake. He meant "she'll make somebody a fine husband".
Love Barbara Bain as Dory-Doo!
Michelle Pfeiffer and Barbara Bain share a resemblance when they where of a similar age.

No, although there a a couple of colourised episodes available on youtube.
