The only ones I can´t fit in are: "I´m not like other girls" and "star-crossed lovers", maybe "Antihero" as well. (Depends on how you see Snape, I guess.)
I looked through the list and went “The golden trio” oh Harry Potter “The chosen one” Harry Potter “Time travel” also Harry Potter “Manic pixie dream girl” stILL HARRY POTTER “Found family” HARRY POTTER I’m still laughing at how many of these could be Harry Potter
"Bad boy with a tragic backstory" Harry Potter (Snape) "Love triangle" kinda Harry Potter (or I guess the community made it one) THERE'S SO MUCH MORE! You can literally twist everything to fit it lol
Yesss that was what I was thinking when he was saying that, also James was a bully and it makes him a bad guy even though he doesn’t have a tragic backstory or he changed after that bla bla bla, this goes to the other commenters who says James wasn’t a bad guy.
With the trope of "the bad boy with the tragic back story" the "bad boy" is also almost always hot and the girl usually likes him and knows he is keeping something. *rolls eyes*
Jesse: found family trope Me:*chanting in my head* six of crows, six of crows, SIX OF CROWS!! Jesse: six of crows Me: hallelujah🙌🥳 For real though. Best book ever. I highly recommend to any and all bookies.
That moment when you can get a bingo just with Percy Jackson (just book one tho): “I have powers” (toilet scene) , “dream sequence” (legit all over the book), “unlikely friendship” (Posiden’s son and Athena’s daughter), “antihero” (luke), broken family (Percy’s)
Your editing is crazy cool now! I loved how you walked off camera then walked on from the other side at the same time. That was fire! And omg when you threw the Wonder book up... that was gold dust! You always brighten my day, Jesse.
I’ve been binging your videos for three days, and they’ve literally relighted my love for reading. I even went and bought Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom because you said they were one of your favorites. I was up till 5am the other day finishing the first one, lol. I’m starting the second tonight!! Thank you SO much for helping me gain back my love of books. Keep being awesome! I love your videos!

6:10 these were literally the two I was thinking about with this trope!!! They are the absolute best!! Honestly I need more books like this in my life!

1:21 *Flashback to the Again But Better ARC drop at YALLFest last year* I would also travel to the 1980s because I would to see some amazing band live at their peak!

Annabel Crescibene does he?? Omg I have this ridiculous fear of finishing series I love. I still haven’t read book 4. It’s been sitting on my books shelves since the day it came out. Same goes for The Infernal Devices, haven’t read book 3 but sadly I read Lady Midnight and that spoiled the other series for me.
I have been watching your videos for a wile ....... one day somehow I ended up watching one of your videos and I started reading one of the books you recommended and now I am a full on book lover
Enemies to lovers is my absolute favorite book trope! I love it so much haha. I'm so surprised you didn't use the Cruel Prince for like 10 of those it would have worked for a bunch of them lol.
My book answers to books I own- Golden trio=Harry potter Time travel= the fire within by Chris d-Lacey The quest= sabriel by Garth Nix (she has to go on a quest to save her father and then to save the kingdom) the most spoiler free answer I can think to say. Hate to love= a graphic novel I own Found family= everless by Sara Holland. Although the outcome is not necessarily a good thing. Bad Boy with tragic back story= the reluctant mage by Karen Miller ( need to read other 4 books in series before reading this book) Parent keeping secret= wizards first rule by Terry goodkind The chosen one= Eragon by Christoper Paolini Book lover trope= lirael by Garth Nix
Hi Jesse! I immediately thought of "compound" by S.A. Bodeen for the broken family trope. If you've read this book you definitely know why and if you haven't I highly recommend!
The story of SNAPE aka the real hero of Harry Potter Clearly from the books we know that snape was abused by his father , he never knew what love was , because he never had anyone to love him , he had no friends... and then came lily , she just loved snape , she showed affection to him , but snape was kinda blind to see it because the death eaters gave him a sense of *belonging* which was more important to him . He didn't have that with lily because she associated with the maradurers who he hated ( i personally love them , all except James) . Just imagine living life with no friends and only bullies ( james would bully just for FUN )... ( I personally know how it feels to be bullied)... Once lily died he became bitter and he hated himself for not seeing the love and that's why he helped Dumbledore being an teacher ( some sort of redemption) . Looking at the kids was the last thing he wanted as it reminded of love , family , friendship he never had , it pains him....he is cruel to Neville because snape saw himself in him ( he can easily turn to be like snape ) but snape knew that neville can be better and thats why he was all strict. Snape clearly didn't like harry / being strict to him because of James ! Harry is the child of the girl he truly loved and she choose James ( the boy who bullied snape for fun ) over him.... he was never OBSESSED with lily ! He TRULY loved her And one main thing : You can't say a character is BAD just because the character's (snape) favourite isn't the protagonist! We love you snape *ALWAYS*
I haven't read HP series. But bullying kids for no fault of theirs to the point that you become the kid's greatest fear sounds pretty problematic to me.
The quest is a theme in the hook ive almost finished writing so I would totally sticker it with my own And I've just realized that everything Jesse said about a book being boring applies Yay writing
If you're looking for Enemies To Lovers, I would reccomend Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey Mcquiston. It is hilarious, emotional, diverse and extremely well written. It came out this past May and is a debut novel. It's about the First son of the first female president of the USA ( who got elected in 2016 instead of trump) and the Prince of Wales.
"I'm not like other girls, I don't pick Harry, Ron, and Hermione as the golden trio" 😂
Or Percy Jackson 😎
Doing a bingo alone because I only have books as friends is such a mood.
You should make a video called "if fictional characters had TH-cam channels"
YES
I NEED THIS NOW!
I want this so bad now!!!
I need this!
I would watch that in a HEARTBEAT
What I wish happened:
Jesse: I'm going to avoid that specific book.
Jesse: *pulls out 2nd book instead*
Its kinda painfull, how many of those tropes, Harry Potter fit in..
You could say that those tropes became a thing because of Harry Potter 😉😉
The only ones I can´t fit in are: "I´m not like other girls" and "star-crossed lovers", maybe "Antihero" as well. (Depends on how you see Snape, I guess.)
@@johnyshadow Snape is actually a Anti-hero.
Johny Shadow You could argue that Ted and Andromeda were star crossed lovers even though we don’t see them too much in the books they fit that trope

ron, hermione, and lavender was apparently a love triangle
Yeah, that's one tropey series, when you think about it.
magic school
Severus Snape Is a bad boy with a tragic backstory who didn't get the girl. Just saying.
Or Draco
Doesn't count bc there were two bad guys after the same girls and one of them (the best one aka James) won 😂😂😂😂
@@Melanie-vl1fz James wasn't that bad, he's just a bully at first but when him and Lily get together he changed and he never bully Snape anymore.
Melanie Delgado James was a bully, not a bad guy with a tragic backstory
Yesss that was what I was thinking when he was saying that, also James was a bully and it makes him a bad guy even though he doesn’t have a tragic backstory or he changed after that bla bla bla, this goes to the other commenters who says James wasn’t a bad guy.

We’re going on a killer QUEEEEESSSSTTTTTT
Bad boy with tragic back story that does NOT end up with main girl: Nico Di Angelo
Kitty Meowskin and he’s gay so we love that icon
yes! Gayness! yes!
With the trope of "the bad boy with the tragic back story" the "bad boy" is also almost always hot and the girl usually likes him and knows he is keeping something. *rolls eyes*
I chose "Kafka on the shore" for that one and he totally falls out of this usual trope
I thought of The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. Totally recommend for those who are into hardcore fantasy
I'd choose Abandon by Meg Cabot or HUSH HUSH. I love them both tho

Hardin. Scott.
"The only friends I have are my books".
You don't know how much this relates to me. 😂😂

Why is nobody talking about how Carry On by Rainbow Rowell would have been the most perfect candidate for Hate then Love?
Sierra I was totally thinking this!!!
i was totally eyeing carry on when he was talking about that trope
And shatter me!
i love carry on so much! it’s my favorite book!
And also the chosen one trope!
“Oh wait I missed my own bingo” was the best line ever 😂😂 love your videos so much
Yes - at 10:30 I was yelling at the screen - Bingo Bingo - but no he just goes and draws another number. How can Jesse be so blind??

YES
And in the films, Legolas and Gimli especially are an amazing duo :)
At first I legit thought you were talking about Aragog.
YES!
YESSSSS
I never thought of Jace as a "bad boy with a sad backstory," I always thought of him as an annoyingly mean boy with issues.
No Jonathon/ Sebastian cause Jace isn’t really the bad guy.... I don’t really like him tho
yup same. he was really annoying
Who wants to play bingo with Jesse??? I know I do.
Guys chill out lol. Those of y’all who commented first, umm, congratulations. We’re so proud of you. Now watch the video. K, thanks.

My favorite enemies to lovers is simon and baz from “carry on” by rainbow rowell
Why did I relate really hard when Jesse said “I don’t have friends I just have my books.” I felt that Jesse I felt thatS
The goldenest trio is Hiccup, Fishlegs and Camicazi.
Enemies to lovers - Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Bad guy with tragic backstory (thats actually really good!!!) - Vicious and Vengeful by VE Schwab
When he said how hot it is outside I almost cried it's freezing were I live summer is over early
Best enemies to lovers I've read recently: Red, White and Royal Blue
the Legend series by Marie Lu has a really good hate to love trope
I agree
same with carry on!
Bad boy with tragic backstory who doesn’t end up with main girl: Voldemort.
This is a disturbing ship but I feel like there’s definitely fanfiction
or sirius black who ended up as an accused criminal
Or Snape
Jesse: the chosen one-
Me: SIMON SNOW
Jesse: bad boy with tragic backstory-
Me: BAZ PITCH
Jesse: hate to love-
Me: OBVIOUSLY SNOWBAZ
