One sentence, by Wilde's grandson, Merlin Holland, I found to be very humourous, already knowing the history of Oscar Wilde. The context was Wilde's arrival for the first time in New York. Holland spoke the following words on the matter: "America was largely unprepared for what they were going to see". That was an understatement! They didn't know what to make of the man! Rightfully so! He was a unique soul indeed! Just thinking of how he was received by the comparatively consevative American literary class makes me chuckle! Haha! From David Hughes, a writer and musician from Éire (Ireland).
I find quite a few of his works hilariously witty and sarcastic as hell! Wrote great satire. Can’t take that from him. And he’s honest,,, even about hisself! Makes me laugh!
Xander Taylor at the turn of the 20th century, he would have been pilloried for being gay. Today, most likely, he would be accepted. But not at the turn of the 20th century. Only has it been easier for a gay man since the 1990s.
@xander7ful areu out of your mind it would have been worse america legal medical and scientific community would have been in jail too and maybe much worse.

Oscar was Wilde but Gene is Wilder! (Sorry, I couldn't resist)
2:30 sounds like the motto people like Miley Cyrus and the Kardashians live by.
Many thanks - surely there's more...
great stuff - thanks for upload
What is the song at 1:44 ? I feel like it's from an opera or something, but I can't remember.
@BahaVII
Yeah I don't think much of Christopher Hitchens either since he got his American citizenship.
He sounds fun I wish we had more Oscar Wildes.
@BeRedIQ He had an English accent, though.
GOD......his nose's just SO GORGEOUS!!!

dorian gray though was a good concept inspired by the interesting theme of faust ,but too much homosexual undertone
is there such a thing as too much homosexual undertone?
uh excuse me that's the best part fr lol.
He sounds a little like Hedonismbot from Futuramma.
A tortured soul....but still historically noteworthy.
I find quite a few of his works hilariously witty and sarcastic as hell! Wrote great satire. Can’t take that from him. And he’s honest,,, even about hisself! Makes me laugh!
He toured Canada back then too.
fuck man where is the rock from space thats ends this hellll
I'm sure people have said it before but he looks like Julian Casablancas.
'you are so wild, Wilde!'
It's too bad he didn't stay in America. He would not have been ostracized here.

I doubt he would be safe from being ostracized, but I think it would definitely be much less than in the UK
@jerryhello100 well said my friend

God I love Hitchens.
He was IRISH god sake

Thats rich coming from someone who most likely doesn't write at all! Very amusing comment though!!! lol.
The guy doing the Oscar Wilde voice is British.
@xander7ful areu out of your mind it would have been worse america legal medical and scientific community would have been in jail too and maybe much worse.
funny a young irish poet in england goes and captures the imagination of so many people before he puts pen to paper
@polomonkey68 prove it?
why on Earth is there an American doing some weird posh English accent for an Irish man?
@BahaVII espesh when hes irish
Yikes, really hate the person who is reading Wilde's quotes. Over the top English accent. Didn't Wilde have an Irish accent? This guy is so annoying.
Pat Mullarkey he was born in Ireland but had an English accent
