    Great basics. Thanks.

The presick above figure could lock really hard and then it becomes too hard to lossen it . Better to have it below the figure of eight with extension of figure of eight above so it doesn’t interfere with presick.

The prussick would not work if it's below the 8. Use a vt prusik above the 8 if you're having trouble with bind

@@TheVelobicycle it would work if the 8 is extended.

@@TheVelobicycle basically you need to extend an the eight so the prusik doesn’t jam into it and fail or my favorite is to extend the eight a little and use short locking hitch 8 mm to 6mm rope locks and unlock really well and doesn’t touch the eight.

Time to school you guys. the prusik doesn't release as easily as other friction hitches so use a klemhiest or an auto block hitch they are easy to loosen when under tension more wraps more friction less wraps less friction experiment with your hitch cord

Great video!! Quick question. Once my prusik is loaded, how do I release tension on it to resume the rappel? Please and thank you!!!

Just pull the prusik with your non-brake hand and it'll release. It is generally better to extend your 8 away from the harness and use a prusik on the brake line as a second hand instead. This way, the brake hand is always the hand managing the rappel, and the 8 is what is bearing your weight rather than the cord.(I get this response is coming 7mo late, but I figured it would be good for posterity).

And you've just cleared this for me.
Was really curious why everyone in the comments were saying prussik before the fig.8 not after, in my mind it made more sense the latter.
That way it would not interfere with feeding the rope
      Thank you!

Hum hum it's reverse, in that video the rope can get friction with the wall

I could be wrong but it looks like he is screwing the cartbeaner locking gate up. Screw the locking gate down so you don't screw up
