Very useful, just picked the same machine. There’s videos that go viral the first week and never seen again , your videos will last centuries helping peeps. Thanks bro
Well done Jim. I made several videos on the same topic although my spindle system was clearly modified prior to me getting it. I further modified the spindle assembly to modernize it and even made a new spindle from scratch. It's nice to finally see what it was like originally. Gilles
Glad you made a video of the original design. Imagine my surprise when I cracked mine open and the spindle was completely different than the diagram. Turns out someone had modified it. Instead of going back to original design I decided to modernize even further. It was a hard project but it turned out great. Made a 3 part series on how to make a spindle. because of that spacer you made for the ballbearing, that spacer is on the outher race and the nut on the inner bearingrace, THATS why your plain bearing was binding up. you make a new spacer and now to fit the inner race, then the problem is solved.
I just picked up a grinder just like that it doesnt have the outermost wheelnut and washer any special features about those for remanufacturing them or where could i get them?
The arbot that fits on the spindle taper to accept the wheel isnt that only held on by the split faced nut i cant get mine off after removing that nut is it just stuck in do t want to force anything until i find out whats holding it on
the double bearing will be silver instead of the bronze like this video. Check out @LetsRogerThat channel on rebuilding the newer version of this spindle
Great video Jim, I am picking up my machine tomorrow. I am sure I will be rewatching this a number of times. Thanks for sharing

Very nice explanation. I have the same grinder with the same spindle assembly, simple and elegant.
I really enjoyed the video.
thank you
Thanks for this.

How do tell if you have a double bearing model?
