I bought a SONY 5000 ES to go with a new A95K TV. It will not communicate with the Sony TV. I spent two hours with Sony's TV techs and they could not get it to work. I spent another hour with Sony's amp tech and they could not get it to work. I was told to call Monday through Friday to talk to the ES Specialist. He would not help, not even make a suggestion. He said if I don't like it send it back. I am very disappointed with Sony's support.
Hey Buddy, HDMI CEC needs to be toggled on both devices in order for each to have certain control capabilities when interacting with each other. Not only will CEC allow for control of both systems, but will also allow for full control of the receiver with a TV remote. Please be sure these are toggled on both devices for CEC communication to work.
Also try powering off both the tv and receiver disconnecting the power cables of each unit and the hdmi cable between the tv and receiver (connected between arc/eArc) Then reconnect power cords power up both units. (Without the hdmi connected.) After both units have powered up turn both units off and disconnect power cords once again. Now reconnect the hdmi cable to the hdmi arc/eArc labeled sockets of the tv and the receiver. Reconnect power cords and turn units on. Check settings of tv that eArc is on auto. Check audio pass-thru is enabled. Check inputs of tv that hdmi enhancement is on for each hdmi input if 4K external devices are connected to the tv. Note: this procedure has worked with various makes of receivers I have had connected to my Sony XBR-65x950g
Sony es auto calabration of a 5.2.4, 7.2.4 or 7.2.6 using core series speakers center, towers and book shelf including the dolby atmos speaker modules enabled or as height speakers.)
Is this coming from the AVR? I thought it was coming from the new Def Tech sub. It feels like something is giving me tinnitus, even when everything is turned off. I hear a ringing and I don't listen to loud or for very long. Whatever it is, it has to go. It's making me ill.
A9 with only four speakers creates many phantom speakers, do the ES receivers with Cailbation IX, and 360 special sound mapping have the capability to create phantom speakers? I have an STR AZ3000ES attached to an XR 65A95L with a 5.2.4 pure Sony setup so far. Unlike the A8 I like having the extra base given by SA-SW3's.
Yes they do. At the end of the Auto Calibration process you will be prompted on a Type A or Type B configuration depending on Phantom Speaker placement.
I have the Sony AZ7000ES. It used to run atmos and dolby vision while gaming. My series x is in atmos. I have it set in AFD Movie mode. All cables are hdmi 2.1. Am I missing a simple setting? Thank you. Currently running 7.2.6
2:33 Any comment as to why the 5000ES doesn’t allow using the HEIGHT2 out when using Acoustic Center Sync with the S-Center Out? I’m aware dual center channel wouldn’t, as the AVR uses the same CENTER2 out as HEIGHT2 on the back of the receiver.
The Digital Cinema Auto Calibration, like the Yamaha YPAO, is virtually useless! You should have added Dirac Live upgradabiluty support. I'd stick with Denon...
Sony also being a movie and music studio, we lean on our in-house R&D to deliver the best auto calibration to be synced with our components. Thanks for the feedback.
Ealan makes Auto Calibration look easy on these units. I wish I could get him over my house. I purchase an STR AZ7000ES and have had it for two days and have not been able to achieve it yet. Sony support is worthless. I may have to send this back.
Question, if you have the normal 7.1, ( one subwoofer) + meaning you have your normal front L + R and then Centre, plus 2 L surround and 2 R surround and also 1 x L rear back surround and 1 x r rear surround behind your seating position, how to make sure your getting the right wires to which rear speaker terminals on the back other than the normal 5.1 etc, and what is the settings set on the receiver for the STAN 1000, thanks in advance. 👌✌🦘👍
Possibly one of the worst “how to” i have watched. Let’s assume the reason I wanted to watch this video was due to the fact I didn’t know how do a Sony receiver/TV room calibration. The very first step should be to explain how to get the receiver GUI displayed on the TV screen. Nope that info wasn’t there. The next step is to not introduce any item that isn’t going to be used during the demo. After the 3rd instance talking about some feature that wasn’t going to be used…it was time to find somebody that was a little more focused.
Hey Tom, This video is titled 'Introduction'. Check out our 'Auto Calibration Walkthrough' video uploaded to this channel for further help with the auto calibration process.
Thanks Sony for making this easy for me to get my system sounding great. Keep up with great sounding units, because to me you guys are # 1

Does the 5000 ES have a LFE + Main listening mode for 2 channel with a sub ?
Is this for wireless or wired speakers? I do not have wireless speakers.
Hey Mike,
These are for wired speakers with the option of wireless speaker expansion to rear or surround channels.
Is normal sony str-an1000 have quiet humming from transformator like in operation?
Any update to fixed the hissing sound when you play 360

Hello please make sure HDMI settings for the input is set to 'enhanced' vs. 'standard' to allow for full HDMI bandwidth.
These new sony receivers are X.2 CH receivers, but how to activate the second subwoofer's calibration? Thanks.
From my experience, they calibrate them as 1 subwoofer... They are not independent

They want you to buy the az7000es. Same reason they took the normal speaker wire terminals off the tvs. To sell you sony receivers.

Way too fast...
you can adjust the speed in the youtube options, it was actually to slow for me so I sped it up, but you should slow it down
Fun fact: The Sony AN1000 does not allow 5.1.2 Atmos, only 3.1.2
