It's a barely noticeable dot on cashmere. Putting tacky embroidery (probably using a different material) or gems would just make it worse. 40 cents gems on a $300 sweater just makes it look like a 50 dollar sweater. Some people wouldn't mind but not the people buying a $300 sweater.
I don't see the big deal. It looks comfortable and stylish, so why make a stink over a red dot? Honestly, I'm surprised the thing had such a massive markdown over a small dot.
