I was laughing so hard when the cat was at the sliding door and then the kitchen window. Thank you for the delight and much needed hope and positivity for those of us south of your border.
Your vegetable soup is basically the Jewish chicken soup recipe as you used turkey stock. Jewish chicken soup is known as Jewish antibiotic and is renown for healing poorly tummies and flus and colds. It works for poorly dogs too but you have to make it without onions for them 😊
@MAB3776s, they have said that there are enzymes in the chicken that help the body to get well. My parents also referred to chicken soup as Jewish penicillin. They grew up in NY in the 1920s and 30s.
Check your vitamin D level! It certainly won't hurt to supplement--everyone in the north should without question! I now keep my level in the 70-80 range and at age 80 have not had cold or flue in at least a decade, including covid. Best wishes! Love your kitchen.
I bet the Balsamic Onion Jam would be delicious on BLT's or even used as a marinade for pork tenderloin or pork chops. Also, I use Fire Cider in salad dressings all the time. You don't just have to drink it to get the benefits. Cheers!
I have recently had COVID and my SIL gave me some fire Cider to take. I took about one and a half tablespoons three times a day. It is the quickest that I have ever recovered from COVID. These was just over the past two weeks and my sinuses are mostly clear now.
Add some fruit to your fire cider. Such as peaches, blueberries, strawberry or even cranberry. I don't like the straight heat and acid so I add blueberries and cranberries 💚
My go to for illness is my chicken noodle soup, I always add a ton of rosemary, thyme, and sage to it all excellent herbs for colds and any respiratory illnesses. So funny I say the kitty at the sliding door first and I thought let her in 😂 Sounds like you have some great projects planned, can’t wait to see videos!
I loved this video! The idea of taking something old, and even discarded and using it in a new and different way is so much fun. We have a lot of old furniture and if we get something that breaks or we no longer use we always take it apart and save/use the parts, we have rebuilt so much stuff that way. I think it appeals to the creative side of me. All your canned food looks so good, I am now craving a bowl of soup!
You can always use Freeze Dried ground beef too! I gave up canning ground beef because we didn’t like the texture either but we LOVE freeze dried! I keep several jars on the pantry shelf for this very reason.
And your house is beautiful.....so good to have those craftsmen in our lives. Mine was my Dad, first house I owed he built my cold pantry in my basement. I lived back home with my Dad at the farm for 6 years before he went to the care home. We celebrated his 97th birthday on the 4th.
I don’t know if anybody already said this, but freeze dry the solids and powder them to put in capsules if it’s hard to take spicy shots of fire cider.
Sure looked like that fire cider was just the tonic you needed!!! Your voice sounded much more normal throughout the rest of the video! I hope you and the family are on the mend and feeling better real soon. God bless. 🥰❤️🙏🏻🇨🇦🍁
Maybe being as far north as y’all are you ought to start taking some extra C, zinc and D during illness season. In higher elevations virus particles can get through your mucus membranes easier because the colder air can make the protective coatings thinner. And the sun has less reach as well- which would mean D deficiency.
I always love anything Dan and you work together it can be great fun. By the way the cat was at the patio door for ages then gave up and went to the window. He knows you well and I hope you feel alot better soon.
We have 2 aronia bushes and have only used them in elderberry syrup. Some years they grow and produce well and others they don't. I never thought of making jelly as they seem sour and hard. Loved your pantry tour, just wow!!! Blessings.
Alex made me chuckle, trying to get in the slider door and being smart enough to go to kitchen window, love your videos and thanks for sharing . Mom of 4 cats and a corgi
I imagine that having so many beautiful sunny days makes the cold and snow of winter more tolerable. Here on the coast it’s been a mild and grey and rain 😩 I’ll take sunny and cold any day 😊
I so agree with Patriciaflaherty5029 about the cat. I kept thinking what the cat was thinking. " darn it I wish I had some knuckles so I can rap on the glass" lol so adorable. Chelsea always good to have homemade soups. Especially yours as you make your own bone broth. Natural healer for sure. Take care of yourselves
I am sorry, but I did chuckle at you trying the fire cider - as a drinker of it, I knew what to expect. When you strain it off, be sure to pulverize the veg and dehydrate or freeze dry it for use as tea or in the kitchen. I like the idea of converting the closet but more for the things you use more often - an extension of the kitchen...things like your roasters and appliances, gallon jars of product you refill from the basement. I like the reclaimed wood as well. Good video.
Loved that you mentioned black garlic! We've been purchasing from a farmer friend for years and we share it with family and friends but no one has heard about it or is even really willing to try. We love it in everything, sauces, dips, on fish, on cracker spreads etc.
Chelsea take care of yourself I've had had a very bad sore throat and congestion on my chest alot of coughing but I watched your video of the chicken soup and I had just cooked a chicken the day before so I follow your ingredients, I omitted the potatoes and added egg noodles it was so delicious and soothing thank you for the recipe
What an inspiration you are! I can only wish and hope my daughter, a little later on in life, will take up this kind of a challenge of a “homesteading” type of lifestyle (I hope that is the proper word of what you and your husband do?) I never thought to do so back in the day and never had a chance to acquire a property large enough to do so. But I definitely know it wouldn’t take much to have a pretty good starter garden in less than an acre. Great job, Chelsea and Dan! From a fellow Canadian, more on the eastern side! Love your channel!
Oooh I definitely want to know about the garlic fermenter - I have had black garlic salt before and there’s a black garlic paste available at our markets but it’s SOOOO expensive! Would love to make my own Re: cool stuff. I’m in Australia and my rental has no insulation in the house, let alone the garage. I just use my stuff in half the time it’s meant to store for. A dug in storage area is my dream - even my 15 year old son the other day said we should dig a bunker given the current political sitch. I know some shelves your hubby did last year were from the reclaimed fir and my wife (who is not DIY inclined at all) remarked how beautiful it was.
Love all the things Dan builds with the reclaimed wood. He is very talented and pays attention to detail, both attributes that I appreciate. You will love having that pantry Chelsea. I too converted a coat closest into a pantry but paid someone and it was very expensive and not nearly as pretty as yours is going to be. Thanks for letting us tag along!
The balsamic onion jam is wonderful to use over chicken when you bake it. I also made some a couple years ago and did not like it as a jam. But tried it over the chicken and it is amazing. 😊
I was watching your kitty at the door and laughed when she came around to the window. I’m in Minnesota and your ketsup chips really intrigued me because as a kid I used to dip chips in ketsup for a snack after school. Well I was able to order them from Amazon and I got them today. Even though they were a bit broken they are delicious!! They were shipped from Canada and a bit spendy but I had to try them once. I’ll have to write Lays to make them available in the states. I love your videos.
Thank you for updating on about when you might get to the new smaller pantry. I'm thinking about doing one in my kitchen so I wanted to see how yours turned out before I start. 😊
On the pasta sauce w/ the ground beef issue, I had the same thing happen to me and to "use" it up I would add some fresh ground sausage to it when I cooked it so the flavor and textures were more mixed. That way it didn't just set on my shelf
Some people recommend decanting your small dose of fire cider and adding organic honey to your small dose of fire cider before drinking your small dose.
I made my first fire cider this year as well. It’s definitely tolerable, considering the ingredients. My only issue is that I was unable to find fresh horseradish, so had to use the minced jarred kind, which made for a cloudy cider. But better than nothing.
I live in LA Junta, Co since 2016. We are getting way more snow than we have had before. Glad you are getting a break from any. I am pretty much housebound at 74 getting close to 75. Enjoy watching your channel. You are a hardworker.❤❤
Huge Congrats on your 200K Subs... and many more in the future. You work so hard on your channel and deserve so much. Your videos are very enjoyable. Good luck on your future projects.
You deserve a gold star for drinking that fire water. Black Garlic, the feed mill by us, had black garlic last year, but didn't have it this year, it's was really good.
I live in a log house built in the 70s and your kitchen looks very much like mine! I havent painted the cabinets but the overall vibe is the same. Your new upstairs pantry will be so nice!
We often hear of people who get a soapy taste from cilantro. I recently read in a nutrition book that there is a compound in beets that some people taste as dirt. I have tasted this in some beets.
I keep some frozen fried hamburger in my freezer to add to sauces, pizza, and sloppy joes. I also have canned hamburger that I use for vegetable soup and chili. The hamburger broth makes both of those so tasty😊
I looked up the Aronia bush to see if I could grow in my Zone, and it said that it is often referred to as Choke Cherry. Also, made the Red Pepper jelly and we’re loving it too!! Lastly, the Balsamic Onion jam is great on hamburgers, if you’d like to try it that way.
I've noticed how weird the weather is lately, it's still warm in the uk too. I have still have roses and dhalias still in bloom in November. I thought yous in Canada would have had a good show by now.
All of those things sound enjoyable! I'm looking forward to the weather report based on your scarf and if there's frost on your eye lashes to milk or check on the cows.
I thought fire cider was made with alcohol so I just ignored it whenever I saw it (I don't drink). But it's apple cider vinegar?! I'll be looking into it now....
Black garlic? How come that I, too, have never heard of it. Straight onto Amazon, and I am intrigued to see that the garlic fermenter can be used for fermenting many other foods. Yogurt, kimchi, fruit vinegars, beans, etc. I have ordered one. Thanks for the heads up. Sue from Uk
I love pickled brussel sprouts and I like asparagus so I am sure I would like pickled asparagus....although I just eat the pickled brussel sprouts plain with a fork, I most likely would eat the pickled asparagus the same way.

We have trump back, finally, we don't need positivity
@@Controlled_Insanity_003 That's precisely why some of us need the positivity.
Yes hope had returned to the US.

REMEMBER ionic zinc, vit D3, liposomal vit C…these will improve your respiratory system and overall health. God bless you.
ON THE BLACK GARLIC - fermentation increases the bio-availability of the food fermented.
Totally agree! Me too. Have not been sick one day since raising my D levels to the mid 70ng.

A working pantry is a must! So much easy then running up and down all the time.
Hoping you are all feeling better soon. My mom would make soup like that as well. Makes me nostalgic to see your video. Thank you.

Some recipes for fire cider say to add raw honey to taste after it’s steeped. I’m going to do that with mine😊
Yeah, meow meow wants in! ❤❤❤
I love seeing the projects you work on around your farm. Some of my favorite parts of your channel.

Wonderful cooking ideas & exciting projects soon! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Blessings 🤗🇨🇦🌻

Oh my goodness, I have some, we tried it with spaghetti and oil, I Love Loved loved it too!!!!😂
You deserve a gold star for drinking that fire water. Black Garlic, the feed mill by us, had black garlic last year, but didn't have it this year, it's was really good.
Pickled asparagus is one of my absolute favorites!!!! Yummy
You and Dan are very skilled; his carpentry and your gardening and canning are remarkable. I love your videos and always learn so much! Thank you Lee
You shook it up. Made me laugh!! Your so funny. Shaking up Fire Cider!
What’s weird about that? I’ve never made it. Oh, because it’s fermented?
I live in a log house built in the 70s and your kitchen looks very much like mine! I havent painted the cabinets but the overall vibe is the same. Your new upstairs pantry will be so nice!
We often hear of people who get a soapy taste from cilantro. I recently read in a nutrition book that there is a compound in beets that some people taste as dirt. I have tasted this in some beets.
Beet root relish ( beet) is so tasty with anything tuna. Sandwiches, baked potatoes etc
Im so Happy for you and your family! Have a Great weekend!!
Can't wait to see the projects going. I love reusing items to make new things.
I keep some frozen fried hamburger in my freezer to add to sauces, pizza, and sloppy joes. I also have canned hamburger that I use for vegetable soup and chili. The hamburger broth makes both of those so tasty😊
Hi Chelsea, I just love what your channel has morphed into since I started watching years ago. I love your content, so great. Thank you 🌷🇨🇦
When I take fire cider-I mix it with a little raw honey!
Looking forward to the exciting winter season of fun!!

I'm surprised at your fire cider reaction. 😂 I love heat and that stuff makes me pucker big time!!!
Praying you are on the mend. Excited to see the black garlic video.
All of those things sound enjoyable! I'm looking forward to the weather report based on your scarf and if there's frost on your eye lashes to milk or check on the cows.
I canned your chili base and it was a big hit with my family.
Love the video hope you feel better soon 🙏
Going to be awesome!!❤❤🙏🙏xxoo
Absolutely love watching your videos. Thank you so much! Colder weather is coming to Pennsylvania too.
I make the chili base and love it.. however instead of canning it I freeze dry it. Saves a lot of space in my pantry and manual labor in the kitchen.
Oh I'm so glad you noticed the cat lmao
Pickled Asparagus is my Jam I love love love it
Omg, I LOVE black garlic! 😍😍
Poor kitty, tried back door, window, she wanted in bad...😂 I never thought about age, breed, ect changing texture and taste of beef.
Hahaha! I thought you were going to spray the camera with fire cider. 😂
Those will be very nice projects.
Hi Chelsea, great video again. ❤ I think I’m going to try making the fire Cider. I loved your face when you took the drink.😂
Sue from Uk
I thought it was fun you just walked casually past your sheep, some who looked at you, like, hey! where are you going? 😂
I would make more firecider since it takes a few weeks so you have some as backup.
“Let me in” ~Kitty
Thanks for sharing as always Chelsea! I would like to can the vegetable soup recipe but cant seem to find that video.
I love your ideas
To use up that balsamic onion one, I use it on top of meatloaf. The meat can hold up to the boldness of the balsamic onion.
I only do refrigerator pickles for that reason!
I love pickled brussel sprouts and I like asparagus so I am sure I would like pickled asparagus....although I just eat the pickled brussel sprouts plain with a fork, I most likely would eat the pickled asparagus the same way.
I am not a beet lover AT. ALL. BUT ... my grandma makes cinnamon spiced beets and I unfortunately don't have the recipe to share, but maybe you could find some out there to try ... perhaps your non beet lover children will like those. They are a little spicy, but not too overwhelming.. so those who like hot foods might also enjoy them as well. Try mixing your fire cider with some honey for an added benefit
Fire cider is great to make salad dressings, that way you can consume it more frequently in your salads. Also, I don’t know if you added honey, but if you didn’t you should, because of the health benefits it adds to fire cider but also because it makes it easier and more palatable to drink. I wouldn’t drink fire cider without the honey.
I have always heard to strain the fire cider and add raw honey before starting to take it.
Thank you! Do you have a video for your canned chili base? Hope you will all be feeling well very soon.

Suggestion for the new pantry, you could double the size of it by adding another wall / door parallel to the pantry door. It would just look like you have extended the lounge / kitchen wall. All you would need to do is move the coat rack, you could put that on the other side of the front door closer to the kitchen, or even leave it where it is and then it would be in the new cupboard. It would take very little effort to substantially add more storage.
