Anyone who has a problem with someone playing playing or Easy or Hard mode really needs to chill out. I really only play on Hard mode so i can get achievements and get more mileage out of my games with a challenge, but not everyone is in it for the challenge.

Easier modes are good. Some people just want to enjoy a story or the characters in a game and not struggle or stress over beating super hard challenges.
Besides, if 'hardcore players' want the challenge, they can go right ahead and do so. the presence of an easy mode shouldn't take away the pleasure of a harder game. I can't stand people who mock people who want an easier game. some people just want to relax and play something interesting.

+Tj Locke I guess it depends on the pacing of the game. A well designed game SHOULD challenge the player. Otherwise you lay down the controller in boredom. To me a good game has to make me fail in order to force my brain to think of more effective, more intriguing strategies. Often if the player is not challenged enough he gets stuck in "button smashing" not truely going through the games potential because his rather premitive skills are never pushed. But a good game should also give relaxing moments. If you get beat up over and over and can't see improvement things get frustrating. The key really is to find a balance between the two. If a challenge fits the players skill level perfectly he enters a state of "flow". It's the most awesome thing one can experience in a game imo. I feel like many people go too easy on themselves. Why don't you just try? Afraid to fail? You will see how satisying it can be to beat a game instead of playing it. "I just want to have fun" "I just want to play" - hehe thats just what you think. If you read a book or a good story, you don't just skip all the bad stuff and jump for the ending oh no. The most entertaining thing about video games is the thought of whether you can make it.
I only do easy mode cause I like exploring without dying every second. I usually do easy mode first and get the exploring out of the way then I work my way up
Sure, if that works for you. I can't think of tons of games that lend themselves to this method however. There's also something to be said for "intended play", since playing it on an easier difficulty may not necessarily prepare you for the step above.
I don't get why playing on easy is so wrong I mean if you are new to a specific franchise and you want to learn how to play or just want to experience the game's story a little more why not... I mostly play on hard but sometimes easy is needed for me to just relax and enjoy the story.
There's an ego-thing at stake here. My personal opinion, there's nothing wrong with using the easy mode, cheat codes, console workarounds, or whatever. Once you've bought it, it's your game and how you play it is up to you. However, there are certain cliques of gamers out there who (I think) are offended by those who use easy modes and short cuts because they get the same rewards that said gamers imagine they "worked" for (ignoring the fact that these are *games*.) Those games that restrict content appeal to said players because it gives them the knowledge that through their "superior skill" they managed to get something not everyone else has. Often it feels good to their egos possibly because other "rewards" in their real lives have been denied them...just a thought.

Wearing a chicken hat while murdering someone in war is freaking amazing. It's like giving a middle finger back to the game, saying "Screw you, I can deal", and proceeding to humiliate all of your in game enemies. thats great and all but with the phantom pain the game rewards you for being just that, a phantom, not killing enemies, maybe stealing a couple and taking them back to base to be ur new soldiers, but you get bonuses for no kills

people should play at whatever difficulty the feel comfortable with that said some games i think are much more enjoyable on a harder difficulty, in many games your characters goal is to overcome a seemingly impossible challenge a game that makes that challenge to easy well that i think kills the immersion more then dying a few times for example if the souls games had an easy mode i think anyone who played it on easy mode is missing part of the game

Theres a difference between a game with an actual real difficulty and one thats artificially created by just raising the hp bar of enemies... and if youre saying that dark souls or ninja gaiden have a horrendous combat system id say the rest of the world is against you on that one
People take games wayyyy too seriously. I pay to enjoy it on my day off, not get stress. As if i don't have enough stress in my life already. I need to unlock contents by playing on medium or above? I already 'unlocked' all the content with my credit card, so sod off.
You also paid for their dream, vision, art style, whatever you want to call it. You paid to see their art, and they want to make sure you don't insult them by drastically changing the way it's experienced. Not all artist mind or even have work worth respect. However it's their shit to be experienced. It's a little like someone making a steak for you, and then you add all sorts of things before even taking the first bite. You paid for that steak, but if they poured their heart into it, then it's insulting. They should rightfully throw you out of the restaurant. If you don't like it, eat someone else's steak or make your own.

If a game that normally gives you only shot hit before you die was changed to allow 2 hit - that drastically changes the game. Just as being able to play the story instead of the game on an easier setting drastically changes how it's experienced. Technically, with Shadows of the Empire, you can die at the end by either crashing on the way out or not escaping in time. If one of these two things occur and you’re not on Easy, the scene where Dash is revealed to be alive will not appear.

Games should never mock the player for choosing easy. They might just want to enjoy a game without the stress or they might just want to enjoy the story. It's also a settings choice, lots of people (like me) put on subtitles despite not having any hearing problems just to be sure we know what's being said. Would you like it if they made fun of you for using subtitles. I wouldn't.

I usually play on normal for fear that hard may have too much of a difficulty spike. If I don't feel like replaying it on hard spending double the time to complete it the first time

Agreed, I like a challenge, but I don't want to be replaying a specific part of a game over, and over for hours on end to get threw say one stage, or one boss, because the older I get it seems the less time I have for gaming, but I don't want my games to be piss easy either.
I enjoy easy mode, especially in atmospheric games like skyrim. Its hard to enjoy the world you're in when it kills you every 2 steps. When i used to play CoD i would always play the campaign twice. Once on recruit to enjoy the story, and once on veteran... because i hate myself
You play Skyrim... on novice? In Master you can kill bandit chiefs in Steel Plate Armor with like 2-3 Swings of a Warhammer, 6-7 Arrows, Stun lock them with destruction, Legendary is only difficult in the beggining later on it becomes more of a chore than anything because you have to mash M1 so much

There is no too tough in skyrim there is either don't use an exploit and mash m1 till ded or use the restoration potion glitch to have a wooden sword with 1M+ damage per hit, Also playing in a harder difficulty doesn't ruin the story if anything it makes it more enjoyable when you fight something that's supposed to be all mighty that killed many adventurers by using a normal attack over and over until they died more challanging. Like fighting Alduin for example if you fight him on novice or anything below expert he, the world eater harbinger of the end times gets killed by the wimpiest of sword in like 8 attacks
Defias Ringleader No,nononononon I said playing on easy takes away from the game when you kill a boss in like 2 hits, but that's an option you can play on easy if you like I would just recommend that you play on something a little more challenging (personally killing bosses in 2 hits for me just takes away realism) but never did I say the glitch is completly right it's an option if you still want to say that you play on legendary difficulty but without the hassle of having to mash m1 to do any damage to anything
Casuals and beginners have the right to play games how they want. Just because you like playing it on hard doesn't mean everyone has to. If you want your challenge, then play it on hard. If you get offended just by seeing the easy option, then there is something wrong with you, and you should probably take a brake from playing and reunite with society. It's great. I'm fine with it if the standard difficulty and above is relatively competent. In most games the AI doesn't get smarter they just make them deal insane amounts of damage and throw tons of them at you. This type of lazy difficulty is what usually qualifies for a difficulty select in modern games because they're too lazy to give enemies some extra utility since they built the game off of the typically easy normal difficulty instead of working their way down with changes to AI to accommodate lower skilled players. Which is what most of the games in this list do in a condescending fashion.

Things I hate about difficulty settings: -When easy is "the AI doesn't cheat", and other settings decide how much the AI cheats. -When easy is still hard. Why have an "easy", then? -When hard is still easy. Why have a "hard", then? -When anything other than the highest setting doesn't let you finish the game. -When the highest setting requires you to play the entire game on the second highest setting first. -When "Very Hard" is too easy, and "Super Hard" is too hard - ie, the game has lots of difficulties, but there is one setting where the difficulty spikes. -When a strategy that works on lower settings doesn't work on higher ones no matter how well you execute it, forcing you to relearn how to play. -When the game's balance is ruined by the difficulty itself. EX: a special ability that gives you a discount on all items is worthless on easy and game-breaking on hard, because items are cheap on easy and expensive on hard.
What bugs me is when difficulty settings do nothing but make enemies spongier to damage and inflict more. C'mon game add SOME sort of rub. Good examples of difficulty doing good things are Nightmare mode in Doom (2016) or the first F.E.A.R. game where certain AI behaviors are disabled on lower difficulties.
What about an episode on games that mock you for quitting? Various exit screen texts like "But there's so much left to kill." and "Fine, leave, see if i care."
In Ahriman's Prophecy the game will accuse you of being a coward skulking from "thy quest" every time you select. And the yes option is "Yes, I am a coward." And I remember that if you start up Ultima 0 and it asks you if you are ready to play and you respond with "no" it will say "Then, Mortal, begone!" and automatically boot you back to DOS.

The quit game screen from American Mcgee's Alice still gives he the chills to this day. The quit screen in the game shows an image of the steampunk cyborg hatter with a psychotic side glare with the words "Running away are we? Y/N"
ikr, I used it because it added a comedic effect to the game that it really needed and made the game easier for me so I can play my first metal gear game without dying in the tutorial.
If the developers don’t like people clicking the easy mode, why then have it the first place? 🤔 And players should be able to choose whatever difficulty they feel comfortable with. If you aren’t really good at a game, and think it’s to hard. Then you should choose the easy mode, and maybe later on choose a harder difficulty. And why would they be mean to those players. They could've just deleted the easy mode but there are beginners out there who haven't played the game yet. It's basically a tutorial, I guess. They mock you there instead of having to remove easy mode on the game because of the beginners.
Plus, they spent money on their product. You don't mock your clients. If I want to play to a game on easy and see that kind of thing, I'll uninstall and ask for refund. I'm not gonna pay someone to mock me.
I will admit, most of the time I do play at first on easy, to get used to the controls, and experience the story. I do go back if I want a challenge and replay on a higher difficulty. I also can admit that I'm not the best at video games either.

Those who play on easy mode are mainly interested in the story - when you have to keep respawning in order to get through the game, it messes with immersion. Any developer who mocks you for playing on easy mode basically has no respect for his game's story. This is why I don't play any of the games mentioned. If the developer has so little regard for the story, the game probably isn't worth buying.
I love u for this comment Prometheus. I only play games with great stories. Playing at Higher difficulties may distract you from the storyline. I may go up to regular or normal difficulty but like I said it's the storyline I am interested in, not even graphics or mechanics.
It messes with immersion? 😂 the lore and story center around difficulties. The difficulty you experience with the gameplay enhances the immersion into the concepts they put forth, it doesn't diminish it.

Yeah I'm bad at CASUAL VIDEO games sometimes and i turn on easy for my first go through bc i'm not in the mood to get my kiddy ass handed to me and just wanna have a good time. If I want a difficulty lowered, I'll make it so, and I shouldn't be judged for having a good time.

As a player who plays on easy mode quite often, I find this infuriating, because some of us people still need to master one of the game's system mechanics before we go onto the next difficulty, you can't just straight up mock us for it. Everyone used to play games on easy mode, no one can't beat a game on high difficulty without mastering the game's system mechanics, that's just being reckless!

I'm guessing it's partially the personality. Some people may find his particular style (ie, goofy over the top with lots of swearing) grating, I find it amusing. I believe that easy mode is for newer players that need to learn the game mechanics without having to deal with getting killed before they learn the controls, mocking people for playing on easy mode is like mocking them for not ever playing the game before.

I can agree in some ways and to the repliers can you please stop nagging on about it, with me. When i was 5 i did do easy mode(this was back in 2008)and i eventually improved over a long course of time, so to all the gents stating that kids will learn y'all need to understand that it takes time and practice. In addition to that my older sisters had to help me and the first game i beat all on my own was The Legendary Starfy on the nintendo ds.
I usually play on normal mode first so I know what to expect...though the only game I can remember that I started out on the hardest mode was South Park The Stick Of Truth but the only thing that ended up being actually hard was the spam fest against Cartman or Kyle.
"Killer Instinct" had an interesting scenario. (6 levels) When you finished it on level 1, it would say something like "Congratulations. You completed the training level. Up the difficulty to meet a new foe." OK. That's fine. It didn't upset me. HOWEVER, you were mocked on LEVEL 2 in an obnoxious way. LEVEL 3 said something like: "Well, you did pretty good. But what happens to your character in the end? Up the difficulty, and your questions will be answered." When you beat it on level 4, it shows you the ending and says: "Congratulations. You have earned it." Looking at what some of those games in the video did, what "Killer Instinct" did seems mild.
Nope. Playing on easy can be seen as a sign of disrespect towards the game developers. Especially gaming journalists. They do not sit down and spend the time to respect the game and learn about it. They rush through it because "it's their job" and "they have other games to play". Which is a sign of complete disrespect towards your art. They use your creation for profit, showing no affection in the process. Why shouldn't they be shamed accordingly? They disrespected you and your work, you have the right to mock them accordingly.

would be cool if games nowadays had only 2 or 3 gamemodes relaxing, challenging, and hardcore, relaxing is just playing the game casually, a smooth start to finish, challenging will start of easy, but with every level theres a difficulty spike, getting progressively more difficult.And then hardcore, basically the complete opposite to relaxing and is difficult all the way through, may have been games like that but i haven't played them myself

What annoys me about 'hard' difficulties, is that they dont make the game harder, they just make it tougher so you have to try more... So many shooters I have played have 'hard modes' were the enemies are basically just bullet magnets you have to spray down an unrealistic amount just to put them down. In Halo I often found that there was a scarcity of ammo simply because it took a whole clip or more to take down the tougher elites. It isnt because they were made better, its because they were made to take more damage, thats just retarded... I like stuff with realistic damage, like Skyrim with the damage threshhold turned way up, one arrow seriously kills... When you are in a tag war with a bandit camp and they are shooting arrows at you constantly and you are shooting back, each shot is a one hit kill, that is fucking intense... I like that, not, oow, shoot him again george! shoot him again!
I really don't like the idea of punishing bad players. I am admittedly terrible at games, but I still love to play them. Often times that means I'll be playing on easy so that I can experience the story (when there is one) and complete the game instead of giving up on it in frustration.
It's like buying a movie and in the middle there is a test that blocks watching the whole movie if you can't answer a set of questions or do some other task. Videogames are literally the only medium of storytelling, that blocks your progress for being bad at it. You can't be bad at watching a movie, but if you're a bad player, and can't get through a part even in easy mode, a game will not let you watch the ending.
It is better to play on harder difficulty . Do you enjoy playing as some sort of God in game ? First time I started to realize that was in Max payne 3 . I started playing on hard mode and since I play on the console I turned of auto aim/aim support ... and honesty some games should be challenging bacouse they lose they ... meaning I guess.

If the game feels too hard, you'll get frustrated, just like you'd get frustrated in real life if something you were trying to do was proving harder than you'd expected. Except in real life you could ask for tips, pointers or even help to complete your task, or sometimes decide to come back to it later. You might even decide that you've tried to do too much too soon and pick an easier variant of the task. How would you feel if people laughed at you every time you struggled to learn something new ? Would you want to keep trying, or feel disgusted and wish to abandon ? Now imagine people let you learn at your own pace and gave you help when you asked for it, instead of making fun of you. Which situation would feel more comfortable ? Mocking is cruel and counterproductive. If anything, players who choose an "easy" mode need extra guidance and encouragement.
They refer to this; because people in countries like Japan don't know a whole lot of what goes on over in the U.S. So devs and/ or some citizens look at the news over here, just to get an idea of how we live. Am I the only one who plays the campaigns of games for the story and not to feel superior to an AI or have the ability to be elitist in a gaming community? Some games have so little substance that having an impossible to beat difficulty is need, but some are pieces of art which (even though I personally play on medium or higher) don't need to use difficulty to keep you interested in a well-developed story or evocative design.
There is nothing wrong with playing a game for its story, but man some people are just bad. I am generally a person that just plays on whatever the normal difficulty is, and that is not hard to play for most games. Sure games like Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls arent since they are made to be hard. I don't blame Japan in the slightest for belittling Westeners since if someone is so dumb they have to play on the easiest handholding difficulty, they deserve to be ridiculed. And this isn't coming from a perfectionist or elitist. As said I only play normal difficulty, but cmon people need to learn some things are meant to be challenging. Is that a valid reason for poking fun at others to you? easy mode in for inexperienced players or players who are more interested in the story. if you are pretty bad at the game and want to get better. might as well start on easy and start on the basics so in the future you can do better. just going straight to hard mode or normal mode for an inexperienced player is just sad.they dont get to know the game they dont get to understand the basics. they dont get to know how boss-defeating methods will work and the game wont be good for anyone. everyones a noob at one point. developers need to know that. they need a good start to there journey on becoming experienced players. they can learn some basics on defeating enemies and the controls and other things. they need to be able to have a good start in order to become experienced.

There's one I'm not surprised it was mentioned. The earner of the shiniest "Best Game No One Played" badge, God Hand. Choosing the easy mode had the main character saying "What? You want me to hold your hand or something?", IIRC you were also forced to play with a "Kick me" sign on your back the entire game. God Hand is also one of the most challenging games I've ever played, with the least amount of bullshitium. When you died, it was because YOU screwed up. Not because there was a booby trap impossible to avoid unless you _know_ it's there, after falling to it once...
+Raxyz Kaarn I thought that sign was the one they put on your back during that one cutscene which happens on any difficulty, which is removed if you use the godhand or do a roulette attack. Pretty sure getting to the end of the game with that still stuck to you is a sign of skill.

Raxyz Kaarn Level die isn't so bad once you learn how to infinitely combo bosses. Trash enemies are the real problem with their kicks with pretty much no startup at all, though.
I play some games on easy mode at first just to get a feel for the game. It's better than getting killed every fives seconds by diving right in on hard mode.. Then there's some games I won't play because it seems like the developers made them just to piss me off! And some people get WAY to proud of themselves for playing on hard mode. It's just a game . . .
Hypnxtic Webber In Dark Souls , the part which annoys me is the ridiculous save option which forces u to play the entire level if u die in between. It was too boring and frustrating rather than being tough and that made me dump the game
While I find these funny, it also kinda pisses me off as people (like myself) who have dyslexia or some other issue that can affect motor control often can't play these games without an Easy mode. It took me twenty years of video gaming to be able to consistently play games on Normal. As a child there was no way in hell I play on anything higher than Easy.
I have dyslexia aswell, and my big pet peeve is all those hours wasted on playing Mario. It took me years as a kid to finish one game (using cheats and infinite lives) and thanks to never being able to beat world one in every game, my self esteem is now kinda ruined.
I wonder what's the point of putting in an easy mode in your games if you don't want your players to USE it? Indeed easy modes are very important. Not everybody is training him/herself as much in a game as a professional athlete who needs to win a world tournament would. Come on, gamer's do have a life. Easy modes and hard modes are a great way to reach both the skilled and the less skilled player can enjoy the game, and you actually expand your number of players, and hey no matter if you are a commercial game developer or one doing it for a hobby (like me), that's our prime concern, as game developers, isn't it?

TMNT Tournament Fighters SNES if you don’t have it set to the default difficulty which 3-4 you can fight Rat King in the channel 6 studios stage but the game ends after it says because you have it at a lower difficulty that you won’t be allowed to fight the final boss which is revealed to be Karai who is insanely difficult to begin with. Compare that with the insane difficulty of tournament fighters on Genesis.

Easier modes are good. Some people just want to enjoy a story or the characters in a game and not struggle or stress over beating super hard challenges.
Besides, if 'hardcore players' want the challenge, they can go right ahead and do so. the presence of an easy mode shouldn't take away the pleasure of a harder game. I can't stand people who mock people who want an easier game. some people just want to relax and play something interesting.

I guess it depends on the pacing of the game. A well designed game SHOULD challenge the player. Otherwise you lay down the controller in boredom. To me a good game has to make me fail in order to force my brain to think of more effective, more intriguing strategies. Often if the player is not challenged enough he gets stuck in "button smashing" not truely going through the games potential because his rather premitive skills are never pushed.
But a good game should also give relaxing moments.
If you get beat up over and over and can't see improvement things get frustrating.
The key really is to find a balance between the two.
If a challenge fits the players skill level perfectly he enters a state of "flow". It's the most awesome thing one can experience in a game imo.
I feel like many people go too easy on themselves.
Why don't you just try? Afraid to fail? You will see how satisying it can be to beat a game instead of playing it.

There's an ego-thing at stake here. My personal opinion, there's nothing wrong with using the easy mode, cheat codes, console workarounds, or whatever. Once you've bought it, it's your game and how you play it is up to you. However, there are certain cliques of gamers out there who (I think) are offended by those who use easy modes and short cuts because they get the same rewards that said gamers imagine they "worked" for (ignoring the fact that these are *games*.) You also paid for their dream, vision, art style, whatever you want to call it. You paid to see their art, and they want to make sure you don't insult them by drastically changing the way it's experienced. Not all artist mind or even have work worth respect. However it's their shit to be experienced. It's a little like someone making a steak for you, and then you add all sorts of things before even taking the first bite. You paid for that steak, but if they poured their heart into it, then it's insulting. They should rightfully throw you out of the restaurant. If you don't like it, eat someone else's steak or make your own.

If a game that normally gives you only shot hit before you die was changed to allow 2 hit - that drastically changes the game. Technically, with Shadows of the Empire, you can die at the end by either crashing on the way out or not escaping in time. If one of these two things occur and you’re not on Easy, the scene where Dash is revealed to be alive will not appear.

I enjoy easy mode, especially in atmospheric games like skyrim. Its hard to enjoy the world you're in when it kills you every 2 steps. When i used to play CoD i would always play the campaign twice. Once on recruit to enjoy the story, and once on veteran... because i hate myself

In Master you can kill bandit chiefs in Steel Plate Armor with like 2-3 Swings of a Warhammer, 6-7 Arrows, Stun lock them with destruction, Legendary is only difficult in the beggining later on it becomes more of a chore than anything because you have to mash M1 so much

There is no too tough in skyrim there is either don't use an exploit and mash m1 till ded or use the restoration potion glitch to have a wooden sword with 1M+ damage per hit, Also playing in a harder difficulty doesn't ruin the story if anything it makes it more enjoyable when you fight something that's supposed to be all mighty that killed many adventurers by using a normal attack over and over until they died more challanging. Like fighting Alduin for example if you fight him on novice or anything below expert he, the world eater harbinger of the end times gets killed by the wimpiest of sword in like 8 attacks

No,nononononon I said playing on easy takes away from the game when you kill a boss in like 2 hits, but that's an option you can play on easy if you like I would just recommend that you play on something a little more challenging (personally killing bosses in 2 hits for me just takes away realism) but never did I say the glitch is completly right it's an option if you still want to say that you play on legendary difficulty but without the hassle of having to mash m1 to do any damage to anything

I'm fine with it if the standard difficulty and above is relatively competent. In most games the AI doesn't get smarter they just make them deal insane amounts of damage and throw tons of them at you. This type of lazy difficulty is what usually qualifies for a difficulty select in modern games because they're too lazy to give enemies some extra utility since they built the game off of the typically easy normal difficulty instead of working their way down with changes to AI to accommodate lower skilled players. Which is what most of the games in this list do in a condescending fashion.

Things I hate about difficulty settings:
-When easy is "the AI doesn't cheat", and other settings decide how much the AI cheats.
-When easy is still hard. Why have an "easy", then?
-When hard is still easy. Why have a "hard", then?
-When anything other than the highest setting doesn't let you finish the game.
-When the highest setting requires you to play the entire game on the second highest setting first.
-When "Very Hard" is too easy, and "Super Hard" is too hard - ie, the game has lots of difficulties, but there is one setting where the difficulty spikes.
-When a strategy that works on lower settings doesn't work on higher ones no matter how well you execute it, forcing you to relearn how to play.
-When the game's balance is ruined by the difficulty itself. EX: a special ability that gives you a discount on all items is worthless on easy and game-breaking on hard, because items are cheap on easy and expensive on hard.
When the only difference between hard and very hard is enemy health. Instead of making the game harder, only makes the game slightly more annoying.
when after playing on the hardest for so many years, easy is too dumb for you, and you wind up losing.
What bugs me is when difficulty settings do nothing but make enemies spongier to damage and inflict more. C'mon game add SOME sort of rub. Good examples of difficulty doing good things are Nightmare mode in Doom (2016) or the first F.E.A.R. game where certain AI behaviors are disabled on lower difficulties.

Those who play on easy mode are mainly interested in the story - when you have to keep respawning in order to get through the game, it messes with immersion. Any developer who mocks you for playing on easy mode basically has no respect for his game's story. This is why I don't play any of the games mentioned. If the developer has so little regard for the story, the game probably isn't worth buying.

As a player who plays on easy mode quite often, I find this infuriating, because some of us people still need to master one of the game's system mechanics before we go onto the next difficulty, you can't just straight up mock us for it. Everyone used to play games on easy mode, no one can't beat a game on high difficulty without mastering the game's system mechanics, that's just being reckless!
The irony here being is that Sakuya mockingly prevents the player from battling, uh, you on easy mode.
Not to mention that Eosd doesn't let you play the final stage in easy mode.

I'm guessing it's partially the personality. Some people may find his particular style (ie, goofy over the top with lots of swearing) grating, I find it amusing. I'm more of a markiplier and jacksepticeye fan (speaking of goofy and lots of swearing, lol), but I did enjoy at least some of pewdiepie's stick of truth playthrough.
I believe that easy mode is for newer players that need to learn the game mechanics without having to deal with getting killed before they learn the controls, mocking people for playing on easy mode is like mocking them for not ever playing the game before.

When i was 5 i did do easy mode(this was back in 2008)and i eventually improved over a long course of time, so to all the gents stating that kids will learn y'all need to understand that it takes time and practice. In addition to that my older sisters had to help me and the first game i beat all on my own was The Legendary Starfy on the nintendo ds.

"Killer Instinct" had an interesting scenario. (6 levels) When you finished it on level 1, it would say something like "Congratulations. You completed the training level. Up the difficulty to meet a new foe." OK. That's fine. It didn't upset me. HOWEVER, you were mocked on LEVEL 2 in an obnoxious way. LEVEL 3 said something like: "Well, you did pretty good. But what happens to your character in the end? Up the difficulty, and your questions will be answered." When you beat it on level 4, it shows you the ending and says: "Congratulations. You have earned it." Looking at what some of those games in the video did, what "Killer Instinct" did seems mild.

would be cool if games nowadays had only 2 or 3 gamemodes relaxing, challenging, and hardcore, relaxing is just playing the game casually, a smooth start to finish, challenging will start of easy, but with every level theres a difficulty spike, getting progressively more difficult.And then hardcore, basically the complete opposite to relaxing and is difficult all the way through, may have been games like that but i haven't played them myself

What annoys me about 'hard' difficulties, is that they dont make the game harder, they just make it tougher so you have to try more... So many shooters I have played have 'hard modes' were the enemies are basically just bullet magnets you have to spray down an unrealistic amount just to put them down. In Halo I often found that there was a scarcity of ammo simply because it took a whole clip or more to take down the tougher elites. It isnt because they were made better, its because they were made to take more damage, thats just retarded...
I like stuff with realistic damage, like Skyrim with the damage threshhold turned way up, one arrow seriously kills... When you are in a tag war with a bandit camp and they are shooting arrows at you constantly and you are shooting back, each shot is a one hit kill, that is fucking intense... I like that, not, oow, shoot him again george! shoot him again!

I really don't like the idea of punishing bad players. I am admittedly terrible at games, but I still love to play them. Often times that means I'll be playing on easy so that I can experience the story (when there is one) and complete the game instead of giving up on it in frustration.
It's like buying a movie and in the middle there is a test that blocks watching the whole movie if you can't answer a set of questions or do some other task. Videogames are literally the only medium of storytelling, that blocks your progress for being bad at it. You can't be bad at watching a movie, but if you're a bad player, and can't get through a part even in easy mode, a game will not let you watch the ending.
It is better to play on harder difficulty . Do you enjoy playing as some sort of God in game ? First time I started to realize that was in Max payne 3 . I started playing on hard mode and since I play on the console I turned of auto aim/aim support ... and honesty some games should be challenging bacouse they lose they ... meaning I guess.

Am I the only one who plays the campaigns of games for the story and not to feel superior to an AI or have the ability to be elitist in a gaming community? Some games have so little substance that having an impossible to beat difficulty is need, but some are pieces of art which (even though I personally play on medium or higher) don't need to use difficulty to keep you interested in a well-developed story or evocative design.

There is nothing wrong with playing a game for its story, but man some people are just bad. I am generally a person that just plays on whatever the normal difficulty is, and that is not hard to play for most games. Sure games like Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls arent since they are made to be hard.
I don't blame Japan in the slightest for belittling Westeners since if someone is so dumb they have to play on the easiest handholding difficulty, they deserve to be ridiculed.
And this isn't coming from a perfectionist or elitist. As said I only play normal difficulty, but cmon people need to learn some things are meant to be challenging. What fun is a game that plays itself for you or a game where you 1 shot everything?

These comments are annoying. I don't see why people feel the need to antagonize one another for how they choose to play. "Well you just need to get better". Is that a valid reason for poking fun at others to you? Also, if you're ok with any Developer hiding content behind a game mode, you're kind of a douche for being so spiteful towards people that simply aren't as good as you.

easy mode in for inexperienced players or players who are more interested in the story. if you are pretty bad at the game and want to get better. might as well start on easy and start on the basics so in the future you can do better. just going straight to hard mode or normal mode for an inexperienced player is just sad.they dont get to know the game they dont get to understand the basics. they dont get to know how boss-defeating methods will work and the game wont be good for anyone. everyones a noob at one point. developers need to know that. they need a good start to there journey on becoming experienced players. they can learn some basics on defeating enemies and the controls and other things. they need to be able to have a good start in order to become experienced.
i can imagine having an easy mode in dark souls. After reading some comments, I still dont understand why people are so butthurt that some people play on easy mode. And if it ruins the challenge for them? And if enemies will be too easy? And if they rush through the game? Does it affect you, mate? No it doesnt. If you feel it would ruin the gameplay, then play on your lvl and let others play however they want. I don't care what difficulty people play tbh. Why should I care if a guy on the other side of the world is playing on easy and I play on nightmare difficulty? It won't affect my life in any way if he plays on easy.
To be honest, I'm seeing people in both groups acting like enormous dicks to each other. One group acts like gamers that prefer higher difficulties are all a bunch of stupid "hardcoregamerz" no-lifes that deserve to be mocked and get offended by even innocent, obvious jokes about easy modes. There's one I'm not surprised it was mentioned. The earner of the shiniest "Best Game No One Played" badge, God Hand. Choosing the easy mode had the main character saying "What? You want me to hold your hand or something?", IIRC you were also forced to play with a "Kick me" sign on your back the entire game. God Hand is also one of the most challenging games I've ever played, with the least amount of bullshitium. When you died, it was because YOU screwed up. Not because there was a booby trap impossible to avoid unless you _know_ it's there, after falling to it once...

I thought that sign was the one they put on your back during that one cutscene which happens on any difficulty, which is removed if you use the godhand or do a roulette attack.
Pretty sure getting to the end of the game with that still stuck to you is a sign of skill.
Internet Person Ohhh yeah, I guess you're right. I think that you cant get Lvl Die or you're stuck on lvl 1 the entire game. It was quite some time ago that I played, so I don't remeber the details exactly, XD.
Raxyz Kaarn Level die isn't so bad once you learn how to infinitely combo bosses. Trash enemies are the real problem with their kicks with pretty much no startup at all, though.
I play some games on easy mode at first just to get a feel for the game. It's better than getting killed every fives seconds by diving right in on hard mode.. Then there's some games I won't play because it seems like the developers made them just to piss me off! And some people get WAY to proud of themselves for playing on hard mode. It's just a game . . .
Dark souls, Demon Souls, and Bloodborne were all made to fit in with the whole fix your mistakes. Or learn from them at least.
Hypnxtic Webber In Dark Souls , the part which annoys me is the ridiculous save option which forces u to play the entire level if u die in between. It was too boring and frustrating rather than being tough and that made me dump the game

FnaF world mocks you for beating the game on normal after beating security and entering the tent with a long string of dialog.
While I find these funny, it also kinda pisses me off as people (like myself) who have dyslexia or some other issue that can affect motor control often can't play these games without an Easy mode.
It took me twenty years of video gaming to be able to consistently play games on Normal. As a child there was no way in hell I play on anything higher than Easy.

I have dyslexia aswell, and my big pet peeve is all those hours wasted on playing Mario. It took me years as a kid to finish one game (using cheats and infinite lives) and thanks to never being able to beat world one in every game, my self esteem is now kinda ruined.
I wonder what's the point of putting in an easy mode in your games if you don't want your players to USE it?
Of course, a little joke, like the Wolfenstein hero Blazkowitch wearing a baby cap on the moment you choose this difficulty setting is nice and even funny, but blocking a game halfway or making me wear a chicken cap.... Man, I don't spend money on a game for being insulted or swindled like that, and it will actually make me not ever buy from a company like that again.
iD software made indeed a nice joke in the original Wolfenstein 3D game, but tell ya what, I did play all 4 settings, and the modes did provide me a learning curve. Indeed easy modes are very important. Not everybody is training him/herself as much in a game as a professional athlete who needs to win a world tournament would. Come on, gamer's do have a life. Easy modes and hard modes are a great way to reach both the skilled and the less skilled player can enjoy the game, and you actually expand your number of players, and hey no matter if you are a commercial game developer or one doing it for a hobby (like me), that's our prime concern, as game developers, isn't it?

TMNT Tournament Fighters SNES if you don’t have it set to the default difficulty which 3-4 you can fight Rat King in the channel 6 studios stage but the game ends after it says because you have it at a lower difficulty that you won’t be allowed to fight the final boss which is revealed to be Karai who is insanely difficult to begin with.
Compare that with the insane difficulty of tournament fighters on Genesis.
If your game makes fun of me for playing on an easier difficulty, why should I buy it? I shouldn't have to play on a higher difficulty to get a better experience than if I were playing on a lower difficulty.

yep, also although that's debatable, in certain games like grinding rpgs (e.g. dragon quest or the older final fantasy titles) one may want an easy mode as they may be interested only in the story, but fuck that right? i'll just go on and watch a youtube playthrough, no need to bore myself to death with infinite grinding or with a never-added easy mode.

Being fair I think Spider-Man's Kid Mode was literally meant for small children. It had a normal easy mode, kid mode was just something even further beyond.
