I actually enjoyed seeing the full gameplay, I feel like it helps those of us who miss the streams see a better handle of the deck rather than just the best parts. This deck does look super sweet though!
Ohh. I actually build gyrus as a budget brew and it was one of my most hated decks for a while. Basically my version was all about abusing etb effects, and the power was kept low so that casting gyrus for 3 mana could dig out just about any threat in my deck. My idea was, rather than do what a lot of gyrus decks wanted to do, and try and find a way to make the tokens stick around, I would just go for immediate value on the spot. The reason if got so much hate was because of the sheer amount of removal. I ran everything from plague crafters, ravenous Chupacabra, even good ol flame tongue kavu. If my graveyard wasn't dealt with, my opponents usually would end up without much on their boards. I even had spicy tricks like cauldron dance, and the secret commander, feldon, to keep that value train going without my commander. Glad you're giving it some love here, and showing the world what this hydra is capable of.
You know what I like about your content is how you guys focus on game mechanics and the fact that like you and Seth are obsessed with drawing cards. It really lets you know what the decks are all about. Other content creators seem to be more about the wins. With you guys it seems to be more about card research and that's cool.
I'm in the middle of getting the cards for a Gyrus hydra tribal deck. i'm using my current Halana and Alena Partners deck and its "ramp into throwing +1/+1 counters on creatures and/or making big things quickly" skeleton and muscle, trimming the fat, and replacing it with black, hydras, oozes, golgari scavenge, and other nasties. it's gonna be more fun than my old golgari speedster deck! :D
this was a great video, i've been toying with what commander to build around to get into the format, wouldnt Master of Cruelties be bonkers with Gyrus in this deck?
For some reason i see a lot of resemblances between Kathril Aspect Warper and Gyrus. Fill up the yard for a big move. And my Kathril deck has often won without actually using the commander itself. Just a lot of reanimating tricks. Gyrus looks fun.
Got a question, Me and my friends are playing a boxing league (i.e. build a deck from one set only and mod with 6 boosters from newer sets) i build a deck with Orcus, Prince of Undeath as my commander and his CMC is 1 red, 1 black, 2 generic and an X. When he enters the battlefield depending on how much mana was spent on X he either destroys or resurrects based on said cost. SO my question is wouldn't the commander tax go to the X like Gyrus or would it simply be 2 more generic mana? Cause my friends said no and it really weakens the hell out of my commander, if anyone could point me to an official ruling it would be a big help.
The ability on Orcus states X, meaning the amount X was itself, without factoring in addition to his other costs. So commander tax will not influence X. Gyrus states he gets counters based on the amount of mana spent to cast him, which is why you can have X=0 and he will still be a 3/3 on the first cast.
I gotta politely disagree with you on this one, Tomer (and I completely agreed on your hedron archive argument!) Gyrus is a card who always looks good to me on paper, but then I try playing him, and it never ends well. It feels like they were so scared of him being any level of powerful they just kept nerfing him - only hits your graveyard, only makes a token, exiles the original, token's gone at end of turn, gyrus has no keywords- most times it just ended up being a really inefficient not-quite-reanimator deck for me.
But it dies to removal!!!!!! But seriously I just dislike the fact that it has to go around the table once to use it's ability and it exiles the card in the yard. It's just not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it can be someone else's favorite! Art is sick too!
Damn, with that cool horde of notion + Jengatha combo, I woulda like to see a full gameplay. I’d really love to see that pair as a deck list.

Really enjoy these well-edited, short showcase videos
Gyrus has been my favorite commander for a long time now. The deck is aggressive and buries people in value
Do you have a deck list? I’ve struggled finding his balance
Can you do a series on this for other commanders in other colour identities

This commander does look really fun. Not my style but facing it seems like it would be fun

He's finally getting some love! I've had a deck built with him for the last couple of years. Dredging works great with him, and he's super powerful.
That was a really great performance. Thanks for the video.

Had a Gyrus deck for some time. Nice to see your version!
My favourite commander from recent sets
He is 2 years old
i just brewed a first experimental list for him and went looking for some tech on youtube... Rakdos the defiler earned a spot immediately :)
I’d love to a fully tuned deck list with no budget restriction 🙏🏾. Great video
this was a great video, i've been toying with what commander to build around to get into the format, wouldnt Master of Cruelties be bonkers with Gyrus in this deck?
Big props my guy, still love this commander. Gyrus says hi-rus!
Would Death bridge chant be a good addition to this deck? I think it would personally
Is there a replay of the stream (if this was streamed)? I'd love to see some more game play of it
A year later, and this is a $400 deck :o Wow!
Was Golgari gravetroll recently banned? My app says it currently is.

Gyrus looks fun.
If you'd let Seth build with this commander, he'll probably make it a Panharmonicon deck. Would be funny to see but I like the deck as is as well.

Is this style easier to edit or more succinct to showcase a playstyle/deck/commander?
It definitely requires less time to edit, but I'll do these videos whichever way people prefer seeing them.
Vaevictus Asmadi the dire is also slept on! If you like Jund but Gyrus doesn't scratch that evil itch then try Vaevictus!
can you do a stream/abridged gameplay of a vhati il-dal control deck?
can you get the other players deck lists? if not, thanks anyways :)
Tomer, i want to see how you would upgrade this deck.
"Yore-eye-on"
Tomer, it's pronounced "Yore-ee-on"!
Seth is rubbing off on him a little too much
Gyrus is a blast. Great!!!
Thought Gorger is a great card I put in my Gyrus deck.
ohh sweet! that sundial is mean.. !
The effects of commander on gyrus is interesting, or rather the lack thereof
Good content and a cool deck, but I prefer the other format where you describe the whole game.
yo ryan
Gyrus is a Hydra. My favorite Hydra next to Polukranos. But what sucks is if you mill enchantments and spells, i think youre fucked.

Sadly not very budget online

Haste is an option in many forms. Specially in red and equipments
Sorry, Gyrus is still bad.
Okay boomer
