Mmm tbh I’ve always seen all the food like that in Restaurants here in America. But I wasn’t completely raised with my Salvadorian family. Also it irks me when i hear it Salvadoran. It’s Salvadorian like Italian not American.
Mannnnn I'm a Cubano from Miami and believe it or not even I've had them. They are great thick starchy tortillas basically. Good for mopping up sauces. Great stuff.
@puramafia5373 Two different profiles, texture, and ingredients. Preference has nothing to do with it. The fact they look similar is all there is. Venezualn Arepas are much closer to Goridtas anyway.
Those plátanos (plantains) where not ripe and something was wrong with those beans. The pastelitos needed their ensaladita de repollo, (cabbage salad), or curtido and tomato sauce. Same for the yuca frita. Never seen such big chunks chicken in a pan de pollo. Where did you all get that food, so I don’t go there 😂 I really appreciate them trying Salvadoran food though! Lulu had me cheering with her reaction to the horchata, pan de pollo, and ensalada de fruta, and the tamal. Thank you all for showing our pulgarcito's food!
Whenever they mentioned thé lack of spiciness or when Marta said I don't know what kind of chili they're using I died of laughter.... We don't eat chili at all!! HAGSGAGAHAGA
We do. But it's not a center piece... most places have spicy tomato sauce as an option. Or jalapeño in the curtido. For the tamales tapatio is excellent.
She said "i don't know what kind of chilli they use" bcs in Mexico we use some kinds of dry chile that aren't spicy, we use them just for color and flavor chile ancho and pasilla are the most common ones
Whats s "chimol"? My suegra makes it and i always assumed it was a salvadorian "hot sauce" its basically boiled tomatoes and jalapeños mashed town and added diced onions and salt.
@11alliLo Chimol is diced uncooked tomatoes, radish, onion, cilantro, lemon juice and salt. Traditionally it's not spicy but people can add hot sauce or pepper flakes to it. I prefer to add some jalapeño juice. It's similar to pico de gallo.
Those mexican/mesoamerican natives had a good formula for delicious food with the corn and beans. Many thanks to the spanish for introducing cheese and meats too. Good cuisines. By the way, chicharrones with tortillas are very delicious too.
I am Puerto Rican and grew up out west in CO with many wonderful mexican people. But to hear these abuelas call Plantains "Platano Macho" brings back memories as a kid. I would only correct a couple of things, like the beans in casamiento or the lack of curtido and salsa for pastelitos and yuca, the taste changes a lot. But really cool effort! I loved it! And I was totally wrong thinking Lulu wouldn't like our tamales 😅
Depending where in Mexico we wrap tamales in banana leaves , eat yuca fritas and plantains. Black beans and white rice combo some of us would call that Moros y Cristianos / Sambaripao.. crema, frijoles. Its like that with all the food that they serve to the moms. They're all not very "authentic"

As a Salvadorean who lives in El Salvador... Many of those dishes do not look the way we make them here haha. Anyhow, very glad they liked them.
I’ve been to El Salvador and I thought the same lol…wish they would’ve introduced riguas 😍
I agree. As a Salvadoran, some of them didn’t look appealing
The problem is that they lack of salsa to many dishes in the video, Like chicharron con yuca you usually eat them with curtido and salsa.

Mole con Iguana for me hehehe
