If you like the editing here (and have noise-canceling headphones) I suggest watching Gentleman's Hentai Club, it's just as good and it has pretty good jokes. Just don't watch it around family

Objectively, there is so much wrong about it in terms of production values that there is no way that it would be anything BUT bad. And yet, it all comes together in the end which makes it brilliant.
One of my favorite small details about this game is outside of the art gallery before the dungeon. The police crew is outside of the front door. No character has ever acknowledged zombies. There are zombies around the side and the back. If you try to kite them over to the team, they will stop following you just outside of line of sight of the other npcs so they can't be seen.
I too was astounded at the news. Not to mention that this video was in the works long before the announcement dropped. And as it turns out, we going to New Orleans after all!

While the themes are different, when you look at the production of Holy Grail and describe it on paper, a normal person who watches it would say, “There is no way this could come together.” Then you watch it and it’s the easiest recommendation you could ever make because it works so well. DP is that to a tee.
I feel like only Jesse would whip out a notepad in a Swery game to try and solve the murder right at the beginning. :D I love it and he catches so many things others wouldn't.
Great video! Apparently most (if not all) of the gameplay sections in this game that we all loathe so much weren't what Swery originally intended for it. He didn't want there to be any combat, but his publisher believed it wouldn't sell if it didn't have it (a result of the times). Interesting to think how different it could have been if they hadn't had to focus so much time and effort on those parts of the game. Despite that, the level of detail and love in this game is phenomenal
Deadly Premonition is bonkers! Gotta love Francis York Morgan though. That the game plays in 'real tijme' mnakes it both cool and tedious, since the NPC's follow an individualized 24-hour schedule. You need to see someone best be there at the exact right time .

Well, the game's kiiiiinda haunted as hell. Like, it has some real bugs AND at least one save I remember got corrupted. So I think the game is kinda cursed, especially judging from it have a rough launch on EVERY platform it releases on.
I remember watching a let’s play of this game like 9 years ago(when I was 12) and being confused but fascinated enough to keep watching. The whole truth of how bizarre this is was wasted on my youth.
Also who the hell let this game ship with its sound design in this state? Everything from ambiance to music is just unsettlingly bad, and not in a good, horror way.

Forrest Kaysen is a recurring character in msot if not all of swery's games. in spy fiction he's an evil scientist and in D3 he's....the main charactr's best friend and a detective and possibly in cahoots with the main villain (not that we'll ever no since that game was cancelled). it's possible he'll reappear in Swery's cat game
Oh shit, I've heard of this game for a few years, ever since the grumps played it for a short time and how so many fans wanted it to be finished on their channel. I've heard others talk about it in a fond memory sort of way, but definitely in a bad game type of a way too. I've never actually gotten too deep into the lore to know what happened. Now that I have, with the Gentlemen's Gaming Club, I can legit say this is one of those games that I want to play for the artistry of it. I had a couple tears welling up when it got to the ending conclusion of the game. I thought I came up with a theory for York and Zach, but then you guys said yours that sounds more likely to me. Yeah, amazing ride
1:20 This bit reminds me of how when I first tried to play Skyrim I couldn’t figure out how to put armor on or equip anything so after about an hour I got frustrated and just played something else until I tried it again about a year later.
Fun fact, Swery didn't want any of those fucking dungeons, or any combat. The publisher made him because "games without combat will never sell". Swery was ahead of his time on that shit.
In opposition to the direction in the beginning of the video, I have approximately -247% intention of ever playing this game, and not only because I lack the console for it. However, this was an absolute delight to watch, and look forward to more?? I need to watch the other one bc I honestly am still confused as to what this series even is.

From what I've heard, SWERY did not want to do the fighting zombie scenes and focus on investigation and such, but the publisher or whoever had a say, said he has to, so they shoehorned it in late in development.

I've had this game on Steam for a while now and haven't played it. I guess it's time to do so. Added a like anyways and I'll come back and watch the vid when I'm done.
Early in their review of the game's plot, did they somehow forget to explain Zach? Just the plain fact that York constantly talks to him? Just find that kinda funny since that's how the game justifies guiding the player and filling in driving time.
One other detail that you can tell about the truth of Zach and York, throughout the entire game, you can see the missing spot of hair and eyebrow where the scar Forest causes Zach as a kid is, even if the scar isn't visible. It's a tiny detail, but it's there, and when I first started playing the missing bit of hair was something I did notice, as it didn't match the other side, but it wasn't until the reveal that it fully made sense. It's also why Emily is able to call you Zach so quickly after 'the shift,' also a bit of great misdirection with the "catwoman" scar too, making people think that was the scar people were referencing.
Loving this new show. The hentai videos came out of nowhere and were awesome, and it seems like you guys are branching off into a load of different genres and games in the show which is rad.
Fantastic review/recap gentlemen, and not just because I love this game. To anyone who also really enjoyed this video, I highly recommend SuperGreatFriend's LP of Deadly Premonition. He does a 100% clear of the original, and did a straight run of the Director's Cut. The original is my favorite LP on TH-cam. Check it out!

Problem is that there are a lot of frustrating/tedious parts between all the great goofy stuff. Not everyone endures it.
