Captain Slocum it's a bit fuzzy, but long story short, that guy is a crossdresser, and wants to be beautiful, like a woman.

This is somewhat of a spoiler for anybody interested.
The guy crying in the intro turns out to be a transsexual (or at the very least a cross dresser). There's more to it, but it involves more plot details, and my memory is a bit fuzzy about them but that's all you need to know to understand the comment. If you want to see more to the game, you can watch Two Best Friends play it. They finished their playthrough like a year or 2 ago.

I know this is five years old but I'm rewatching this series and heard that comment and thought the same thing lmao ironyyy
This game sort of personifies the idea of substance over style. The graphics harken back to early PS2 era quality and the controls are frustrating and janky as hell, but there is still a certain charm to the game. It's never so bad you want to throw the controller, so you sort of keep playing because it's so weird you want to see just how far down the rabbit hole this story will go. Several hours later you realize you're hooked on such a terrible but enthralling game. The characters, dialogue, and sheer bizarreness of the game are enough to make most people overlook the complete lack of polish it suffers from.

I probably won't watch too much. This is a flawed game, despite how incredibly fun and interesting it is.
And no game, no matter how fun, with any flaws, will ever not be bashed endlessly by Arin. Even Ocarina is hated by him and that game has very few notable flaws.

i wish gg would go back and finish this game. i experienced it for the first time with gg's let's play. i finally decided to play through it recently knowing nothing more than what was shown in this series. i expected an awkward but charming and quirky game, but what i came out with what is easily one of the best story-driven games i've ever played. the quirkyness is a barrier of entry that makes the ending worth the journey. now the goddess theme OST hits me like a gut punch every time.
I like how so far this game went from people mourning over a dead person to Ib in literal seconds.

When they played Sonic 06, they played the PS3 version, which was released a few months after the 360 version and had very, very small tweaks to make it run better
The 360 version had fewer bugs, but more crashing issues, and ran better overall than the PS3 Director's Cut.
And we don't speak of the PC release. We know the people who ported it didn't.

For example, I'm an artist. I STRIVE to get better and I want to appeal to most people. But I can't get better without critiques. Cause if everyone's like "you're so good dude!", then I'll never find the passion to get better. Plus, more people, and more professional, will lose interest in me. And I don't want that.

I recommend watching two best friends in general as they're probably the most consistently funny channel in the gaming community. And they are usually knowledgeable on the material they're covering
I recommend you watch Giant Bomb's Endurance Run of DP. They finish it and it is pretty funny.

When I first played this game (I hadn't even heard of the game) I thought it was a terrible game, it has weird dialogue, squirrels that make monkey noises, copy/pasted unnecesary mechanics from other games but done badly (glitchy as hell). It was so terrible that it made me laugh, so I kept playing it, and eventually I got really fond of the quirky dialogue, story and soundtrack.
Now I can safely say it is my favorite terrible game. It sucks, but I love it anyways
Nope, when it first came out nobody even knew what it was and it was 20 bucks, I bought it and saw the atrocity that this game was and it became one of my favorite bad video games. Then everyone else jumped on the band wagon a year later. Good times. Also this is straight up Twin Peaks the video game so how could I not love it.

I'm so glad the grumps are playing this. It's hilarious and charming, constantly referencing B movies with adoration while (happily) becoming one itself. I do hope Dan and Arin have fun with it!

Well that's Arins fucking shtick, not that i like it, but it's going to happen and there's nothing we can do about it. Most likely they'll cut the play through short like the Berserk game they played or the SpongeBob game they played, because apparently Arin can't handle sitting and listening for two Fucking seconds.
Zero Spineslash I understand it's their thing, which is why it's great when they go for plot light games like Mario, Sonic, or NES/SNES games.
Though games like this (And South Park Stick of Truth, if you remember that disaster) are simply not Grump material.

I recommend watching the SuperGreatFriend playthrough of it. It's super underrated because it's over shadowed by bigger youtuber's playthrough. He truly appreciates the game and you will love his style of presenting games. He's my favorite youtuber and he doesn't get enough credit for being awesome. Give him a shot if you want to actually experience the game.
