You're using both fast and slow twitch in both. Though it is good to have heavier and lighter. Using a variety of rep ranges has worked best for me.
You are training your slow twitch fibers more with 10 reps to failure than with 3, but they both hit both. You have to fully recruit your slow twitch fibers to use your fast twitch fibers at all. And you hit the fast twitch fibers when it becomes difficulty so the last 2-3 reps of the set of 10.

I did what I like to call the “sweet sixteen” when I started going to the gym with a goal to join the 1000 pound club
    (I’m not a strongman or a bodybuilder by any means, I’m a 6’2” 240 pound soldier boy)
So to join the 1000 pound club, you do a single rep for bench squat and deadlift and each of those weights should add up to or exceed 1000 pounds
So an example of the “sweet sixteen” workout called for me to start out with bench: 135 for 10 reps, short rest by adding weight, 5 reps at 185, short rest by adding weight, 225 for 1 rep, workout for bench done
    Move to the deadlift
225 for 10 reps, short rest add weight, 315 for 5 reps, short rest add weight, 405 for 1 rep, deadlift complete
Squat 185 for 10 reps, short rest add weight, 225 for 5 reps, short rest add weight, 315 for 1 rep, squat complete
Then I moved onto the military press for two reasons: 1-I felt that having strong shoulders would aid in my bench lift 2-the military press when held activates the stability muscles in your back and core which will aid in both your squat and deadlift
    So I did, 95 for 10, 115 for 5, and 135 for 1
I ended up recording my 1000 pound lifts for-255 bench, 330 squat, and a 425 deadlift in 3 weeks doing those workouts listed above every Monday Wednesday and Friday with a diet of chicken, beef, mixed berries, mixed fruit, whole milk, and water
Week 2 and 3 if I felt the 1 reps for each exercise during the “sweet sixteen” were not challenging enough I’d add 5-10 pounds until I couldnt get a complete rep in (in my opinion a complete rep for bench is from the starting position to your chest back to the starting position with a flat back, squat from the starting position down with knees bent in a 90* angle back to the starting position no arching your back, and for deadlift no “walking” the bar up your legs just a simple movement from the ground back straight utilizing your legs and grip strength to get the bar past your knees to your thighs then controlling the bar back to the ground)
Now, I say again: I AM NOT a strongman or bodybuilder or even a nutritionist or physical trainer, I DO NOT claim this is by any means a good training program
All I know is I tried it, I accomplished my goal, and I do not know the exact science behind why it worked for me
