He knew what he was doing. Strong players just have a line of how far they are willing to deviate based on a read. He decided a fold in that spot was simply over the line. You could tell by his face that he knew he was gonna be shown aces.
There’s a huge difference between Pardo’s situation and Chidwick’s. Chidwick has more chips committed already and he only has to worry about one player having him dominated. Pardo had to be concerned that either JNT OR Chidwick could have AA and he didn’t have an ace in his hand, making it even more likely he runs into AA. Also there’s a big difference between losing most of your stack and losing your whole stack on the final table.

As everybody knows, picking up Queens when you're on life support at the bubble is a godsend. UTG raises and a tight old man like this dude here 3-bets. I couldn't believe I had to fold this premium with no chips left, but my read said I was beat and I finally made the agonizing fold. UTG called off and sure enough the 3-betting old dude had Aces (which won the hand). 1 orbit later the bubble popped and I shoved A/Q preflop right into A/K behind me and busted out. Since I satellited into the tourney, even the min-cash was almost all profit and I remember being so satisfied to book it because if I'd died with the Queens just a few minutes earlier I woulda got nothing. I've had countless way bigger winning days than that one day, but for some reason that's still one of the hands I vividly remember.

JNT's gaffe/tell aside which understandably informed Pardo's decision....................in any scenario where there wasn't a tell like that, Pardo's fold may have saved him and seemed smart, but it wasn't the CORRECT move in my opinion. As much as it sucks being in positions like that, I feel you simply have to bite the bullet and call pocket Ks. Otherwise you just run the risk of being rolled over in countless other marquee moments where one's holdings may just be AK, AQ, Pocket 10s, etc.
