I bought a Harbor Freight aluminum flag pole years ago...survived several storms and still standing..best flagpole ever and no complaints yet. I outfitted my home woodworking shop with H.F. sanders, files., drill presses....etc and never an issue with any of them. My 14" bandsaw is delta and my 6" jointer is RIGID but those were gifts.
Yes,yes,yes...we know its Chinese...blah, blah, blah..but I have made some serious American currency building/selling things with them.

First I want to say I am a regular at our local HF store. Not picking on them one bit. They have a lot of good stuff for the money. Having said that I have gotten some junk from them. My experience with the hose clamps is you can't tighten them down very hard or they will strip out. I have also purchased their electrical tape that has no sticky on it at all. Also, have some # 2 Phillips screwdriver bits that are so brittle that any torque at all will break them. I have a lot of HF stuff, angle grinders, metal chop saw, scroll saw, cordless drills, metal brake, wood lathe, etc. with no real complaints except some of this stuff could use a little more power. If you keep in mind this stuff is cheap, understand that and treat it accordingly, their merchandise will generally get the job done. Thanks for a good video.

I must admit that I do have those cotter pins from HF. They seem to work alright and have not had a failure yet. The one item that you showed that I will never buy from them again are the hose clamps. I've had them fail the first time I used them on my boat. After they failed in the ocean, I'll spend a little more to get a better quality. The best deal in my opinion on micro fiber towels is Costco. I now use the Black Steel gloves from Lowe's. Much better quality than just about anywhere that I've bought from.

Lacquer thinner will eat up the 5 mil gloves pretty quick. I started using the the 7 mil. And they are around $10 bucks a box, but thicker. All the Harbor Freight haters need to move on. We all recognize that some things from HF are a bargain, and we use them as disposable items. And then, we have tools & items that are more expensive brands. I appreciate your video.

I found the HF 7Mil gloves good all around shop solvent and dirty grease protection and less likely to tear. The 5 mil are great for lighter grip duty like washing and painting. If you watch for sale coupons on-line or junk mail, the glove coupons or even the generic 20% off coupon you can usually save a another couple bucks per box.

Hehe, love the comment about the gloves. "if you are a smaller person, or a chick."
I used the gloves for tons of stuff. From keeping chicken juice off my hands, to painting, to dying leather, to draining the black tank in the camper. Can't beat the price on them.

The security driver bit kit is always a good idea to pickup as you never know when you will run into an oddball security screw someone installed for x reason. It is always the case where you need it at a time you can't go get it.

I pick up the packs of 1/16" & 1/8" drill bits. I use them for pilot holes in everything but titanium and hardened steel. They seem to hold up fairly well for sacrificial bits.

I agree the boxes of assorted fasteners are a good deal and decent quality at HFT. I like their 9 mil rubber gloves for automotive work and when handling herbicides etc around the homestead. Other good items are the 10 pack of CA glue, jute twine, blue poly tarps, pneumatic nailer brads.

    • @2-old-Forthischet
      @2-old-Forthischet 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The brad nailer guns are adequate for home use. My son just bought his second one for a recent project at his house. They're cheap enough that if they break, you just toss them.

I use HF hardware with no issues at all. I love the gloves. The cotter pins saved me trips to home depot. I have the nut n bolt asst as well. Saved me many trips also. The compressors are junk as well as the electric power tools. The Hercules n bauer drills sux too

the hand tools are ok they're good if you don't care if someone looses them or forgets to return it to you. I like getting batteries from there and sometimes their free, they work fine and only time I see a good deal on batteries elsewhere is usually on Black Friday. Also their storage vaccum bags are a good deal too.

  • @j.rob.5943

The Nitrile gloves are way cheaper at Sam's Club, if you have access to one. Also, I wouldn't buy those microfibers when they have them for Free all the time with their coupons. Free is cheaper than anywhere last time I checked lol.

I used nitrile gloves for years but never cared for how they split with any little puncter. A friend of mine turned me onto the Vinyl gloves from HF. The Vinyl hold up to machnic duties a lot better, they do not split when punctured.

I have all those in my Boat shop plus Their Viton and HNBR oring sets and the metric set comes in handy also. cant use the hose clamps got to have ldeal stainless clamps and stainless cotter pins. I like their 9mm gloves they hold up better in carb cleaner. I get the big bag of microfiber towels at Costco or Sams club cant remember the price but the best deal I have found. I don't allow red grease rags in my shop the die will get on light colored carpet and seats even fiber glass and stain it and it wont come out.

HF is great, even though China will own the USA one day, but IDK about those hose clamps...
I have the same (smaller) box that he shows and when I used a 1/2" one on a hose in my car, it stripped after tightening.
I installed an auxiliary cooler and inline filter for my transmission (2004 KIA Optima) and I'll be damned if one of those clamps fails me.
If it's just a hose for an air intake, fine, I'll use one of my HF clamps. But to have a transmission break because I saved 20c on a hose clamp...hell no.

I use LA’s Totally Awesome for fluid in my parts washer. 8 gallons of that which is 32$ from the dollar store (32 OZ bottles) and then maybe 1 or 2 gallons of water and it works amazing and doesn’t eat gloves or plastic or anything like that. And it’s cheap!

I get the micro clothes for free. There is a coupon in popular mechanic for free plus a free meter and a free tarp.as a tree fell on my van and broke the windows and put the doors off track I had to take the family there and get 4 tarps to cover the openings it also broke my storm and other windows. I did win a 140 amp mig welder from there it is a 220 140 amp . It workes ok but finding parts is almost impossible.

Should note that those small clamps are only good for carberuated fuel lines. If you need clamps for FI lines, you need special FI clamps. (Greater clamping force, less likely to loosen, and no teeth to chew into the line.)
The HF clamps are also not stainless.
My go-to for worm clamps is AutoZone's part # KEDIS. $30 (before coupons), full stainless, and includes 10 ea. of seven different sizes and a handy wall-mount rack.

I looked into getting a box of rubber gloves at HF but saw that they only went up to XL in size. For my use I don,t need the gloves to be super tight, I want them to be easy to put on. Amazon sells Genuine Joe brand up to XXL and they are 8 mil. They cost a little more than the HF brand but a box lasts me quite a long time. I do like shopping at Harbor Freight though and have been reading rave reviews about their new 3500 watt inverter generator lately.

Please do not buy cheap hose clamps from anywhere. Get some good ones. I've worked in plenty of customer's vehicles that overheated because they got a $3 set of clamps from the gas station or harbor freight. They are very cheap and break very easily.
If you want some decent gloves please go Anywhere else. I used to buy gloves every month from harbor freight until I ran out one week and ran to fastenal down the street. Like 1 or 2 dollars more 'expensive' but their 5 mil gloves outlasted HF's 7 mil, which I regularly purchased.
