Space Station Cameras Capture Tropical Systems in the Pacific and the Atlantic

- Cameras outside the International Space Station captured spectacular views Aug. 30 from 257 miles above the Earth of three powerful tropical systems churning across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
In order, Hurricane Lester is seen as it moves westward across the Pacific packing winds of 125 miles an hour. It is followed by video of Hurricane Madeline as it moved westerly across the Pacific as well, with winds in excess of 130 miles an hour. Both storms were on a track that could threaten the big island of Hawaii in the days ahead. Lastly, the station cameras captured a view of Hurricane Gaston as it churned across the open Atlantic with winds of 100 miles an hour.

Hurricane Gaston's winds were 100mph here, which means the winds move 1.66 miles per minute. The clip is 3 minutes approx, so the winds moved about 5 miles in that time. 5 miles from this far away is far too small to pick out without zooming in a ton. So it might look like a still image, but it's not. My god people are stupid.

Another example is volcanoes. Deadly for us, but beneficial for the earth as it releases internal pressure of the earth.

Furthermore, you have to believe and have faith do really see the blessings and grace of God. His plans will always be better than any plan that man can come up with.

how much do you expect them to move over the course of a few minutes? the average diameter of a hurricane is about 100 miles.

Why people find it impossible for secretive military institution to render some convincing CGI footage ? when they believe the same institution has the capacity to build and maintain a 'space station', i mean this organization keep a fare amount of people suspended in space indefinitely, do you really believe making convincing CGI footage is out of their reach? and its cheaper then actually taking the footage, despite of what some people say in the comments , faking footage of earth from space is much cheaper then actually taking the footage, why you think they presented only CGI image of 'the globe' for such a long time? because was cheaper to make an impressive and convincing CGI model of earth than taking a high resolution picture of the entire earth. They already showed us before that they are willing to present CGI omitting to mention that is just a imaginary representation of the real thing.

Often times planes fly over these storms seeding them using chemicals, we call them (chem-trails) Go ahead look through all these lame arse videos of the fake station flying over these storms and see if you see one plane or even the tale-take signs of exhaust,,,,,,,,,it's all CGI cartoons !!!!!

The winds within the storm are 130 MPH last I checked, but the storm itself isn't moving at 100 MPH it's moving towards Hawaii at like 12-15 MPH so not fast enough for us to see from this point of view. There's a difference between how fast a storm is moving and how fast the winds are within a storm.

+Justin Clark do you have any idea of the scale of this system? 130mph wind... Assume the cloud moves 130 miles in an hr. That's just over 2 miles per minute. You'll never see something spinning that rate from space. Its all relative.

Naith Orlain its because the satellite images you see on tv are like time lapse, taking an image every 5 minutes or so. The live video shows the storm in real time, so the storm's spin is much harder to pick out even though its cranking really fast.
At the risk of being a amateur in combination with the video of watching the Sun videos that NASA has produced by its observatorie satellites.. here goes. The muther trucker is huge!! Dayumm! When just a small part of its swirling rings disapate or enlarge it's mass you have depression of atmosphere. It's power comes from that of high pressure in the atmosphere. It's strangly a beast 'er time.

Doesn't the ISS orbit in the thermosphere? It is supposedly 2000F in the thermosphere. How is anything maintained at that high of temps for any length of time? true the particles are further apart lessening the intensity but still that's hard to believe. Oh yeah, metal expands and contacts with extreme hot or cold which also is not ideal to have people living in...Houston, there really is a problem with ALL of this!! Cool pic though I love Syfy!!

+A Smith I guess the reason they look so still is because the storm is too large and the ISS too close in order to appreciate the spin created by the Coriolis effect. I would imagine that the velocity of the ISS in orbit would influence our perspective of the storms movement as well. I guess came to this video with the presupposition that the storm rotates slightly faster than it actually does.

A Simple " this is green screened because you can see a distortion on frame such and such " would suffice, but just saying it is green screen doesn't make it so. On another note, did you know that you can access satellite imagery from NASA? you just create a login and select which sat imagery you want to access. I got a picture of Mount Vesuvius and used the near infrared frequency to see the lava oozing from the volcano. Satellites are cool they take pictures of our world in different spectrums of light.
