That was truly beautiful and fascinating Irish eyes….you have really got into the swing of this now, and it’s so rewarding! Well done!! It’s a beautiful place to visit, looks like. So many young people though…it must have been dreadful back in the day when penicillin would have cured so many, had it only been discovered in time. Such pretty birdsong all around and I love how you stopped to take time at the start to film the resident squirrel! If only they could talk!
You have a very good torch with you now…amazing how clear the writing shows up when you shine light across what initially looks like a worn stone! So glad I’ve found you and Sue..,your videos are so fascinating and teach us all so much about the lives of the folk who lived and sadly died there, but they have left their mark with these stones and dates, and we can see the work of superb architecture in the church building, designed by the father of a famous architect you say. Keep up the good work…loving the adventures you take us on as you travel round Ireland in beautiful spring . Love to you both! Helen in U.K. 🙋‍♀️😘👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰😻🙏🌻

What a lovely spot great to see the sunshine, flowers and hear the birds sing. The angels on the headstones are lovely and the skeleton so unusual. It's amazing to find those helmets which seem to be authentic according to another viewer glad they haven't been taken. Take care the 40 minutes flew by.

That's fine work, IE! I love your thunderstorm and arc welding intro. That church window must look glorious with the sun behind it. It's interesting to see the mediaeval symbolism of the skeleton and hourglass persisting into the 18th century. The title 'Esquire' would have been associated with the ruling classes so you're more likely to find it in a Church of Ireland graveyard than elsewhere.

👍💜💯👏👏👏. What you call chest tomb, we call above ground crypts. Instead of being buried the casket is placed in above ground crypts. Now most celebrities in the states ground vaults are demanded because of diseases. Some you can only have flat markers. Sad they have rules. I can always be buried on either of my family cemetery's. Teach them to be snooty.😁. Thanks Irish eyes . I enjoyed this.✌🕯💜🙏. Love, respect and positivity always. Neita james. 🧘‍♀️🙌🙂👋.

Irish Eyes, I don’t understand . A beautiful Church. Here in the States I may see a beautiful old church and if it’s old enough I will probably see a graveyard to the rear as well but …. The graveyard STOPS in the rear. At this church you are at the graveyard like Ivy has worked its way to surround the entire church . You basically have to walk over graves to get to the front entrance. Why was this done ? I would imagine back in the day as a small child going to that church every Sunday would probably give me the willies walking past all those dearly departed souls. The place is positively beautiful and I believe the name is Couch not Gouch ( Couch , like a sofa ) . Thank You both . Very interesting and and the countryside is like out of a childrens fairytale.

Irish Eyes, hope you don’t mind my mentioning this, but I looked up the exact meaning of Esq, and it said that it’s abbreviated from “esquier”. Old French . A term of British origin(ultimately from Latin Scutarius in the sense of a Knights Shield bearer. Who would eventually be dubbed a Knight himself .in Britain it’s an unofficial title of respect ,having no precise significance, which is used to denote a high but indeterminate social status .
Phew! Hope you followed all that! Just meant he was of higher social standing in the community really. Sorry I rudely interrupted, but words intrigue me, so I wanted to clarify and share. Love and best wishes Helen in U.K., 🙋‍♀️😘🌻
