It would be nice to know the company that sent you an empty barrel so we don't buy from them. I hate supporting crappy companies.
I’m new to the community, but don’t be quick to blame the whiskey producer that shipped the barrels. My previous job included responding to trucking spills. All sorts of stuff winds up leaking in the backs of trucks and major trucking company’s hire third parties to respond (that’s what I did). If they say you have a leaking drum or barrel then those response companies are going to show up with those big yellow overpack barrels to contain the leak. The distiller might not even have known about it.
Ok. Ever mind. I thought you were referencing the first barrel that broke in transit and wound up in the yellow overpack. Not the one at the end that was empty
well if it a lawsuit is filed all you have to do is follow that and you will know EXACTLY what company did it and then you can find out what subsidiaries to avoid
Rex saying "even better" was the most Texas thing that ever happened on this channel.
Ehh, Texas.....
Idk, i felt like “my fat left nut” gave it a run for its money
@@RasmusDyhrFrederiksenr…granted it’s not *all* Texans, some really test the rest of us
@@Dan016 Yeah, it is a mixed bag. But they sure elected some nasty and corrupt politicians.
I hate this state, but damn is it the best state
By all means, I never want you guys to stop with the shenanigans, but this vlog style what's happeninng in the distillary was amazing. I hope you do a lot more of this.
These videos are top tier. The production quality is getting really good.
Couldn't agree more, this was the best episode in a while. Not that any episodes are bad, but this was above the rest forsure
@@zacharygriffiths2159 ooo
Completely agree, Rex showcasing us all that is to come was done so well. Epic video!
I'll drink to that.
That plastic barrel is for spills. Ethanol is a hazmat therefore the containers that carry hazmat are considered "Hazmat" even when "Empty". Surprised you still received it. Not supposed to pick it up for delivery if leaking, so it happened in transit. You can reject it and the shipping company eats the cost of replacement. Or keep it, your call.
Yep. Leaking barrels would typically be rejected
I work for one of the big shipping companys and the policy is usually to return it to the company of origin in a plastic container if found leaking in transit.
@@jasonGreenVw I actually work for Averitt, the shipping company. 2 main points, I can confirm we (nor most carriers) would not pick it up if leaking...if we damaged it, we would not put it in a plastic drum and deliver it. It likely came from an area outside of our coverage area and it was another carrier that gave it to us for the "final mile". BOL states 8 barrels, technically that's 8 barrels. I agree with @Bryan-fb8dh , should have done a partial refusal for damage. Don't have to deny the entire load.
I am so grateful that you popped up in my TH-cam feed 3 years ago. It's been one hell of a journey watching you grow and absolutely kick ass. I love all of you and what you do so much. Can't wait to see what's next!
You and I are twins, but I am a year older😂🤣😭 4
6:18 I love that Rex walks back in to point that out after I had just paused and rewound the video moments before when that sign was in the background 😂😂😂
I truly belong with all you magnificent bastards! You are my people!
I’ve been watching you guys for YEARS! It’s so great to see you guys entering a new chapter. Can’t wait to see this grow over the next few years.
So they dumped the barrel and told y’all to kick rocks. That’s a whuppin’.
I’ve been an MB since the early days. I’m talking Whiskey Biscuit days. I’ve missed this kind of content-getting into the nerd stuff, production stuff, and seeing the personalities of the team. Thanks for bringing it back.
My wood came in the mail a few days ago! I'm excited to see the video of you all Layin' Pipe.
Briana thank you for the nice card.
Why do I find it hard to believe that Rex actually makes pour over coffee...
I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next on this wild whiskey fueled ride!
Stellar job to Rex and Alex for managing to get this beast of an edit completed!
Need to find a good coffee and whiskey pairing to pour the whiskey over the coffee....hmm....
Lol you call him a hipster but that how I made my coffee in prison for 3 years hahaha. Tastes way better if you have the patience, and i had nothing but timeee lol
What a feel good video! I love how you didn't pull punches and pretend all is always awesome. You guys have that fighting spirit that says, "that sucked, but what's important now?" Great to see Emma again too! Cheers 🥃
You guys are awesome! And Brianna is a great part of the show! So funny, informative and inspiring!
You guys disappeared into the back of my TH-cam algorithm. So much progress it’s insane. This made a me a tad emotional, or it was the single malt double cask🤷🏼♂️
Congrats, guys and gals. An award well deserved.
I'm a complete beer nerd who doesn't enjoy whiskey (I'm sure I've just never given it a proper chance), but I absolutely love the passion you all so obviously have for what you all do. It's so exciting to watch and if I'm ever in Texas I'm definitely looking you up. If you ever make it to New Zealand, I'll buy you a drink. You guys are all awesome.
Weird metaphor, but this feels like watching the first couple of years of RoosterTeeth and that time of just starting to need to grow beyond that “just a handful of people screwing around” phase and into a real business. Seeing what happened with RT in the last few years, I hope you guys last as long, grow as big, and handle things better.
The big difference here is, RT were a bunch of nerds that had zero clue how to run a business. The wizard academy/crowded barrel guys look like they do know how.
Wonderful comparison
@@spaxxor looking like and actually knowing are two very different things, only time will tell.
and it went all downhill from there for rooster teeth.
"Get Wood, Lay Pipe" should definitely be a tshirt 😂😂😂
So much construction! I wish i could have worked on some of these expansions, this community has been so good to me for the past few years, I look forward to visiting soon!
Been a part of this community for the past 4 or 5 years and I have loved every minute. So happy to see the success of Crowded Barrel and can't wait for what comes next!!!! Cheers!!
You all are just really GOOD people and have helped me along my whiskey journey! Don't EVERY change! Love live the Whiskey Tribe! Cheers/Sláinte!
I'm not even a whiskey fan but love this channel and the vault channel. Love that ya'll are growing from all the success
Congratulations to folks at Crowded Barrel Co.
I’m not even a whiskey drinker…I’m a rum guy. I watch your videos because their interesting and I love the fact that you all always have fun doing what you do.
Emma!
Been following you guys for a few years now and my wife and I love what we have learned and enjoyed your content. Unfortunately we are not able to get wood and help you lay pipe. This time in our country has really put a huge strain on us. Sorry from the Carter MB household.
I have been on my whiskey journey for the past 4 years I originally started with Jack Daniel's but I learned the way of Jameson, Laphroaig, and to my love of short bread from beautiful Redbreast 12, I am so glad to be able to help you with continuing on this gorgeous journey I will get wood for this cause.
I don't drink. I have no idea how I ended up here. Glad to see you guys grow. If I can budget out $100, I'm going to get a stave.
I am working on starting my own business with baseball/softball gloves and the way you overcome hits keeps me motivated. Thank you.
The look on Breanna's face when you say a "full semiload of equipment."was priceless
It's cool that you are now showing the future with alchemy at the crowded barrel. I remember sitting with Richard at the fang and feather talking about everything going into it
I was expecting them to keep the wood and make a wall on site comprised of staves with people's names on them.
This! I was thinking the very same thing. Make some decoration somewhere with the name, and sometime down the road when you get to visit, you find your name as a pilgrimage.
I absolutely hope to make it to Texas in the next year or so and really hope I can have a dram of a Crowded Barrel single malt with Rex, Daniel, and last but certainly not least, Brianna.
Interesting. 🤔🤔🤔
Valentine Distilling…..interesting. May need to make a trip south to see what you do with Valentine whiskey. Their juice isn’t bad, just not elevated to excellence in my neck of their woods.
Pause at 2:50 and see writing on the barrel next to the yellow tote.
More behind the scenes videos PLEASE much love from New Zealand
You all deserve it. Not the broken barrel. The success.
As someone who's been working on their own drink products in the north east this was a great watch. Just seeing more of the ins and outs is very helpful!!
There is so much damn equipment there now... glad to see another Northeasterner around!
I know, every time I make a batch someone always winds up with Jake leg.
I love how you can see @3:03 Emma is smoking a cigar.
Grats on the win! I my self work for a whisky maker in Denmark called Stauning Whisky we just won worlds Best single Cask single Rye Whisky. The feeling is amazing then you know people like the whisky 🤘🤘🤘
Breana carrying those bags reminded me of working in a factory when I was younger. We had to carry 50 pound bags of carbon black up a flight of stairs to a mezzanine. There were three of us, one of whom was a college football lineman. Two of us would throw a bag over a shoulder and walk up the stairs. The lineman would pin a bag under each armpit and carry a bag in each hand. 200 pounds, walking up a flight of stairs.
"it's just in texas" lol I love the dry humor 😂
I've been watching since the very beginning. Patreoned up as soon as it was available. Watched as the distillery slowly came into fruition for what felt like 2 years. Made it to the grand opening to watch Rex get his head shaved and am so excited for this new chapter for Crowded Barrel. I cant wait to see what comes next!
You know what would be so cool? The choice to have the wood sent or for there to be a supporter wall with the names mounted to be forever on display in the Alchemy bar.... Personally, that's where I would want mine to go :)
Name, state, country. So visitors could see this was a world funded project.
I won't swear to it, but I just bought wood, and there was a shipping charge, so my guess is they send it to you. I really like the idea of a wall though, like the Wall of Magnificence in the Fang and Feather.
"A business of ups and downs." I don't know man, the YT side of it sure makes it look like all you guys do is fuck around and somehow make a living. Looks amazing lol.
Emmas back?! Congrats guys!
Pretty sure that's old footage, but it was nice to see her again 🥲
no lol
It would be nice, but just old footage.
She wasn't at the end of the video where they were all, individually, asking for wood
doubt it. shes the main blender at balcones now going by the article i saw on the whiskey wash.
That yellow barrel is an overpack container that is commonly used in industrial use when you have a leaking container.
That's a fact we have about 6 of theses overpack drums,
This is going to be awesome! Can’t wait to come and visit from GA when it complete! Congratulations on being crowned the best!
This video was phenomenal, thank you for all your hard work.
Angels Share? Nah, that yellow bucket was the UPS Share.
Same thing in this case: 1:16
G'day from Australia. It's a beautiful Thursday morning. It is a very sunshiny day, and this video brought an even bigger smile to my face. Rock n Roll, you magnificent bastards!
Is there any obvious leak stains on the cask. It's easy to see if the "Stain" is bad enough to result in full loss. I've been a cooper for 35 years in Scotland, currently working in Australia setting up a cooperage. Love watching you grow guys ✊️🥃🥃
Congratulations! Awesome video. I'm a bourbon noob (definitely the aforementioned beer geek tag fits) but can appreciate the dedication and love you all have for your craft and each other. Keep doing your thing in your own unique way 🙌🥃🤙
I've ONLY just started watching you guys for what two three months now? While sadly i can't afford to financially support, and sadly I don't think you guys ship to New Zealand, my parents are whiskey lovers- So watching your shenanigans and watching your kiwi buddy - Just, it's been great - I can't wati to see more - and as an expat american (Minnesotan here lmao) - if i ever EVER make it to texas i'd love to come see what's up :3
Gefeliciteerd mannen en vrouwen...
Nice name for your new whisky.... " Even Beter "....🤔😄
At 14:30 she says "I never siphoned before." I can't stop laughing.
I love seeing this crazy little thing of ours grow. (it even feels weird saying ours. lol) I hope I'm able to see this place IRL soon.
Really makes you appreciate each and every drop of the precious liquid we drink called whisky.
Yay! It’s Emma!
We need more Emma!
CONGRATULATIONS! On to best whiskey in the USA!!! Looking forward to one day buying it in my local liquor store!!!M.B.'s unite!✌️❤️🥃🥃
Briana is an incredible addition ive been loving for a long time now ❤🎉
This was a great video. I'm proud to be a member of the Whiskey Tribe with so many other fabulously Magnificent Bastards!!
I was also super impressed that Rex did a seriously great job without seeming to have nommed a handful of edibles before the shoot! 😜
Maybe just one. Okay maybe two!
Really cool seeing all the bts stuff that goes into crowded barrel
Got wood and laid pipe. Good luck guys, you are awesome. Support sent from a random cornfield in Indiana.
Excellent! I've purchased one to help out. I can't wait to visit when it's all done.
Congrats on the award. I am bummed that there is not a 'pickup' option for the stave. Also, congrats on the expansion.
I may be only a wee basic Patron, but I have now laid pipe and will proudly display my wood for all to see. In my house where that’s ok.
I've been watching videos here and there when they show up in my feed. But this one's gonna keep me around for a while. Love what yall are doin.
Regarding barrels, I would definitely recommend at least a day trip to a winery and getting a tour of their barrel storage or cellar.
Heck if you can negotiate time with the winemakers and cellar crew regarding their barrel protocols, and investing in some barrel racks.
Rather than transporting naked barrels, it would also be a good idea to have them loaded on transport racks as part of the contract to reduce the chances of damage and ease loading/unloading.
Spoken: “In the world!!”
Whispered:” In Texas!”
Response: “Even better!!”
This struck me to my soul, as a former Texan who wishes he were a current Texan.
God bless you, Tribe of Whiskeys!!
AMEN
Shoot I live in Canada and unfortunately I’m on disability right now I’d die to get involved distilling is a huge passion of mine it’s just a tad to steep with the exchange rate love you keep killing it
Never seen any of your videos... But the first 50 seconds of this video, alone, is worth a sub...
I'm an hour away, north san antonio, and I could see myself spending some weekend afternoons with a cigar and some whiskey and good food up there. Cheers.
It's crazy to see how far you've all come over the years.
Congratulations Daniel, Rex and team! What a story.
It has been amazing seeing how everything has all grown. Cheers to all the magnificent bastards 🥃
I really like these type of videos! It's great to see the Crowded Barrel growing
Cool video and congrats! Really fun to watch.
BOUGHT mine - LAY THAT WOOD! Hell yes !!!!!
You guys are awesome - the gold is well deserved...Keep on keeping on...
Thankyu!!!! For the video! Much needed some cheering video. I had a very long day!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Now I want a t-shit that says "Get Wood, Lay Pipe" with the crowded barrel logo on it.
Well done video of where you’ve been and where you guys and gals are going! Cheers - Congrats!🥃😊
aww its john. good luck whereever you went john. and emma, balcones new main blender. tribes spreading out. and if alchemy gets to be a bigger busy thing yall are really gonna need a bathroom upgrade.
As someone that knows nothing about this wouldn’t make sense to ship everything in the yellow containers just to keep the barrels safe.
This was a different style of video and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can make the trek down to Texas one day and enjoy a glass of the best whiskey in Texas.
I got to visit Aucopon before I even knew they were working with Crowded Barrel. Great folks, great beer. Worth a visit when you're in Dripping Springs.
I’m incredibly excited for you with all the renovations to the property! I may never see it in person, but I’m excited to see the progress on video. Congratulations on the award and all the incredible things you are doing! 🙌
One of these days when I get back to Texas for a visit I will have to come see you guys
Amazing that you guys got to collab with Jester King, one of the best breweries in the US right now.
Definitely always love it when one of the little guys finally has enough and takes a chunk out of a big ole bully. Make it so!
So cool to see how far you guys have come! Keep it goin!
Might want to check trademarks. Carnival Cruises has an "Alchemy" bar on many ships. It's their higher end artsy one.
Was the barley actually from Texas though? Hasn't Single MoM been partially sourced? Which is why I thought grain to glass category was interesting.
Alchemy...it's like that distiller at Spirits of French Lick doesn't call himself a distiller, but an alchemist, I like it!
I think the suspension on that Ford Focus is shot after that grain delivery...lol!
Just in Texas?
Even better!
😂😂😂
"My mother is going to be so upset when she hears me cursing." Most wholesome moment.
much love from toronto. you and your crew are awesome!
I'm in the process of moving to Texas after we finish up building our house. I'm so excited to come visit the new spot whenever it's officially open!!
Happy to buy some wood and lay some pipe! Great news about the win, and Slàinte!
Wow I loved that video! Wasn’t expecting it to be that nostalgic. Having a wee beastie during it, loving it.
