Stairs are going to outlast the house!
What is G Tape? Is it the same as a G String?
HOW TO: blow your budget
If it can't dry, it will die, though you think overkill on the tape is a good thing. At a certain point, it becomes a negative. You are at that point
Over kill lol 😝 lol
😂 enough tape to have kept the titanic from sinking.
needs more butyl! lol. Solid risers seems like it would prevent ventilation
How long you expect those stairs to last. Assuming your putting composite boards on top, otherwise planks will not last as long as those joists you prepared will. Also the bottom plate is touching surface. You water will shed down. But bottom plate eats it up. Another point moisture trapped wood is worst. You over do it is worse than just doing tops
When you add the 2x8 to the front of each step, doesn't that increase the depth of the cut into the stringer? There has to be atlest 5" of material left of the 2x12 correct?
@@jimmyjoe1591you may want to rethink your math. A 5/4" stair tread added to each run maintains the same rise of 7 3/4" (assuming he didn't rip his 2x8's down to achieve the desire overall rise of the stairs, from landing to top of deck surface)
What a waste of tape
Railing ?
I’m curious about the long term of this wrapping joists and framing with tape stuff
I really wonder if they is really any benefit in the long haul? I seen decks that are 30 years old and the frame is fine still without tape. Now if the tape was a sealing rubber tape that sealed to the screw it might help but really how much water is getting to the joist through a screw and the deking? You get more water in the wood decking then the joist.
The flashing tape is mostly beneficial when you use composite or PVC decking. That traps more moisture and causes rotting at the top of the joists and stringers. When you use wood decking it tends to absorb the moisture and evaporate better. That's my understanding of it, it's also an added layer of protection and helps you stand out on the quality of work you do to your customers.
I don’t use tape. I trowel Zip liquid flashing onto the top of all of my joists and stringers. It seals around the screws better from at home tests I’ve done.
What is G tape?
Just paint it black
Aren’t the riser with step installed not to exceed 7.5 inches?
7 3/4" per International Residential Code. Dimensional 2x8's (after milling) are anywhere from 7 3/8 - 7 5/8". For all we know he may have ripped down these riser boards to achieve the run/rise required for the overall desired height from ground the to top of the deck surface.
What is g tape
Same as G String I think.
What's G tape?
It that Gorilla Tape
Thank you! I'm certainly no stranger to the use of duck tape and WD-40 to fix most ailments, but I've never heard anyone call gorilla tape "G tape". I like to think if I made videos for a living (or to supplement my income) I would be considerate enough to not use terms or abbreviations that weren't commonly known without defining them.
Oh well, ttfn. @@myronsmith2114
Yep, same as G String.
