WOW now this was just catchy! @AnetteOlzonofficial @nightwish Thank you for making a new earworm for me! #nightwish #nightwishreaction #anetteolzon #live #reaction
I'm really pleased you have reacted to this, I've not seen many reactions to Escapist on TH-cam. This is one of my favorite Nightwish tracks by Anette. Meadows of Heaven and Eva are also worth reacting to.
Yup that was indeed Anette :) Love this song! Another B-side that really shows off Anettes voice is 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First' (B-side to The Crow The Owl and The Dove)...honestly, do yourself a favour and check that song out cos its such a glorious, underrated (and under-reacted to) gem of a song in the NW canon and Anette sounds amazing! :)
You should react to "NIGHTWISH - The Crow, The Owl and The Dove (OFFICIAL FAN VIDEO) - th-cam.com/video/iyY5QMf41dk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3F8j6rZb3QtrCIoq ". It is a beautiful and tears bringing up song with Anette and Marko singing it together (Troy has also a little part in the middle), that has a Fan beautifully animated video running with the song. This song has a deeper meaning and the video describes it very well. The Production company of Nightwish arranged a competition among fans and chose this one for the released official Fan video. But foremost, it has a beautiful melody and lyrics that sticks in your head for days and weeks after. Highly recommend. There is a Floor live version of it, but it hasn't got the animated video which makes it a less powerful.
Anette had some really good songs that nobody ever reacts too. Cadence of her last breath and For the Heart I once had to name a few. I would say Whoever brings the night but its a song you listen more to the instrumental version just cause of how they decided to do the vocals, I think Emmpu wrote that song.
That's the first time I heard this song. I loved it. I think that the description of a fragile voice against the much heavier instrumentation was absolutely on point.
I love your comment about being here for all of Nightwish. Every bandmember has contributed to the group in their own way. I'm especially fascinated by the transitions Tuomas has made in composing for each phase of the band. Part of his genius is being able to write incredible music that spans numerous genres and uses the strengths of the members. So many different flavors, textures, and colors - all very Nightwish.
You really hit the nail on the head, when you said that Tuomas is a genius because he knew how to write music for each lead singer of Nightwish. Furthermore, being a fan from about 2000/2001, because of this, Nightwish has always been a band that I have loved no matter who the members were. With so many bands, you can say “I liked them when (so and so) was in it”. With Nightwish, it doesn’t matter who was singing, or who was drumming, etc. it’s all been amazing. Thanks to Tuomas, and everyone’s dedication to the music. Have you ever considered doing a co-reaction, or a Interview with another reactor?? I was thinking a vocal coach who has been reacting to Nightwish for the past few years might help with explaining the vocabulary of each singer’s voices. I have seen a few reactors do this and it’s always been lots of fun. Glad you enjoyed this great song. Cheers!
You do just fine with the vocabulary you have - I really like Annette in the studio (although she can sound a little like the chipmunks) , it's live that she wasn't great. She certainly sang on some amazing songs and always gives a good vocal performance 🤘
This was a great song for you to unlock. Have fun bopping out to this on your playlist. All I know about vocal styles is what I have seen on TH-cam, but the vocal coaches I have seen say Anette has a bright voice, and I think that's a perfect description. Thanks for the reaction.
You were fast with this video😁 I am proud of you that you recognised that it was Anette singing😊 Thank you!! One of my favourite songs with Anette as the singer🥰 it's so catchy!
I think that it was Tuomas' purpose when they hired Anette - to combine a more fragile, innocent, fairy-like voice with heavy music. To have something completely different than the powerful opera sound and that way to explore different things in music. It just didn't work out on a personal level.
I usually never go for covers of Nightwish songs but there is a person on youtube who does Powermetal covers by the name of pellekofficial. His version of this song is epic because Annette's bright tone lends well to being turned into powermetal belts.
This was a new one on me - great to hear Annette again. I'm sorry, totally unrelated Daniel, but.. .... 'Peter File'!! 😂 I seriously nearly fell off my chair!😊
The vocal styles of the 3 Nightwish singer's are very different. Tarja definitely generally sings in a more operatic style than either Annette or Floor, with rounded vowels in more places and more pronounced vibrato. Annette usually sings much "brighter", kind of the opposite of Tarja. Perhaps it is this vocal dichotomy that attracted Tuomas to Annette, given the painful separation with Tarja. Or perhaps I'm reading too much into that. Whatever. What I do know is that the albums with Annette singing are great. Some of the band's best work IMHO. I have heard that Tuomas wanted Floor as front-woman much earlier, after the split with Tarja, but her responsibilities as front-woman for After Forever at the time dissuaded him from asking. I have no idea how true that is. Regardless, Nightwish got Annette and continued making great music, with an arguably refreshing vocal twist. I found Nightwish during the Annette era, so she holds a special place for me, even though Floor is my favorite.

Anette was exactly what Tuomas wanted for the band at that time and probably what Nightwish needed. In studio Anette was great, but unfortunately not always delivering live. Her own songs was OK live, but the rest was to me to different from Tarja and often Anette was out of tune. That's my opinion anyway.
Tarja had classical training and wanted to be an opera singer, but unfortunately for her it didn't work out, so she returned to Nightwish after the completion of her university studies. For the most part in Nightwish, she stuck with her classical voice, edging more toward a rock voice only in their last album "Once". Anette was hired precisely because her voice wasn't like Tarja's. The only knock against Anette was that she couldn't deliver live, otherwise, her studio stuff was great. I enjoy listening to the two Anette albums far more than the previous, more pretentious ones with Tarja. IMHO, the classical voice in metal should only be delivered in measured doses, not slathered over everything. For me it gets tiresome real quick and that's coming from a guy who used to be a classical singer in his youth. Maybe that's why I'm more critical of the early albums. My only complaint about Anette is that she never made an effort to 'metal-up' her voice or her stage presence. Give Tarja credit in that for the last album, she made the effort not to go 100% classical. Floor OTOH, goes wherever the song needs to go, which is why we all love her. She puts the music first.
🇬🇧 Norfolk : Nightwish’ s most sold albums were with Anette such a talent , slow love slow laying on a piano at a jaz club is one of her songs that stick with me from Nightwish 😊

More Anette, please. Maybe she's not as amazing as Floor live, but the studio versions of her songs are true gems.

Can't believe I forgot to mention whoever brings the night. One of my absolute favourite nightwish songs😅
one of my favourite nightwish songs, that whole album was magic.
That's the first time I heard this song. I loved it. I think that the description of a fragile voice against the much heavier instrumentation was absolutely on point.
There is a version of Meadows of heaven with the orchestra, live, where anette did a finale that is just mind blowing

You were fast with this video😁 I am proud of you that you recognised that it was Anette singing😊
Thank you!!
One of my favourite songs with Anette as the singer🥰 it's so catchy!
I haven't heard many of the b-sides, including this one. So thanks for playing it.

Tuomas was doing some really good commercial sounds at this time of the band. ... and there is nothing wrong with that
This is one of my favs, goes under the radar sometimes. The Instremental is probably better tbh

This is a cover of song She is my Sin from band Nightwish's 2000 album Wishmaster.
