Last story: first I am sick of this thing where grounding your child is terrible. You can work the teach the kid a lesson and still take away things after they disobey you. Once had a coworker dye her hair "mulberry brown". It was supposed to be brown with redish highlights but instead was red purple with brown undertones. Nobody was happy about it, not her and not our employer.
You have to go through steps to get it dark. Next time, have her add red over it, then brown, then black, depending on her natural color. But always look for the right tones to cancel each one out.

Uh, yeah no, box dye is not the same as professional dye. At best, you’re getting leftover product that salons would never use, no toner, and insufficient (both in quality and quantity) developer. Mined diamonds are basically worthless. They're ridiculously common & the value is artificially inflated. Buy a lab-grown one or better yet, get moissanite.
It's the same logic as "pink is for girls", the commercial industry tells us "mine diamonds are the only real diamonds" so they can inflate the cost and demand.
I say just buy based on priced because the price of moissanite has gone up so much that it’s almost the same price as natural diamonds. They did that because it’s a common diamond substitute. It’s all inflated pricing.

I used some semi permanent dyes (conditioners) that lasted for weeks and I wash my hair every 2 days. So yeah that stuff can really hold (and is not a box dye).

Without those, I might as well stuff a handful of dry cornflakes in my mouth. Also, since my wife has mobility issues, I have pretty much taken over cooking duties, so it's up to me to make our food tasty. (you should see all the spices, seasonings and hot sauces I have in the house). I do get pleasure out of making meals that she likes, as she pretty much eats like a bird now (no, not a vulture).

My daughter accidently dyed her hair orange and when she tried to dye it back dark it didn't work. She had to go to salon to get it fixed.
Once had a coworker dye her hair "mulberry brown". It was supposed to be brown with redish highlights but instead was red purple with brown undertones. Nobody was happy about it, not her and not our employer.
You have to go through steps to get it dark. Next time, have her add red over it, then brown, then black, depending on her natural color. But always look for the right tones to cancel each one out.

It’s weird that OP was so against boxed hair dye. It’s not any different from due to would get from a hair salon. They also use to color and mix it with developer. I’m confused, I have had my hair dyed every color there is and it’s always fine. No different than when I’ve had a cosmetologist do it.

Uh, yeah no, box dye is not the same as professional dye. At best, you’re getting leftover product that salons would never use, no toner, and insufficient (both in quality and quantity) developer. It’s terrible for your hair, and a lot of salons will refuse to work on hair with box dye because it’s a nightmare to get out and poses a high risk of serious damage to the hair.
