@@basicwitgirl Not really. Javik is an integral part of the story and the best squaddie of ME3, combat and story wise. The sooner you get him, the better.
Me every time I do the Sanity Check scene: Squealing, swooning, kicking my feetsies. (Very gently encouraging you to do MShenko just to see the difference in that scene) And I, too, thought the "I can't stop grinning" dialogue was because he was happy we were together. Cute headcanon accepted.
This episode should be called the Giddy One! 😂😂😂 I have to say I have never seen anybof then dialogue with Javik yiu had. I always do Eden Prime before Priority Surkesh, earlier in the game. His dialogue was very different and his opinion on Shep was different as well, thanks for motivating listening to us ME experts, your decision to hold off made for a surprising conversation. As for you and Kaidan, well that whole scene was specifically written for you cause it fell right in your zone 😂. It was fun, thanks for sharing, God Bless!!
Honestly I've always waited with eden prime aswell. Gotta bring my man with me you know. It's just so fitting for Kaidan (or Ashley i guess) to be there, and I'm glad you waited. Plus you get some alternate lines from Javik not many people get to hear.
With your romance, for you its only been a few games not to long apart. Imagine the people who had to wait years for that romance moment. Great playthrough!
Only downside to not doing Eden Prime earlier seems to be missing out on some squad conversations on the Normandy (as well as any potential comments during missions, of course). Now there is another reason to play the game again! 😂
I got to admit, the numerous times I have played through Mass Effect, I never thought about what would happen if I was in a relationship with Ashley and I decided to wait for her to become available before doing the Eden Prime DLC, how the conversation and experience with her would play out. I may actually do that next time I play, and I wouldn't have had that idea if it wasn't for basicwitgirl. You waiting for Kadian made this playthrough new to me, someone who has played through the game at least a dozen times.
Waiting until Kaidan was back on board before doing Eden Prime resulted in dialogue that i hadn't heard before and i bet many watching this vid had not either. Great choice Basic! Spite is right! And next time i am in English Bay enjoying a Canadian Lucky Lager I will have to drop in on his parents and say hi 😎

TBH, I ended up in an accidental Kaiden romance at one point because I did the dinner date before my intended romantic meetup, and he was just being so sweet that I couldn't turn him down. I had I think 4 different romance saves on that Shep? Lol
WHAT. I left the stream after my lunch break was over, thinking you wouldn't have time to do the Citadel date after Eden Prime. And then you snuck it in at the end and I missed being able to fawn over it with everyone!! 😂 But at least the romance is finally locked in! Kaidan's confession that he's always loved Shep and the hand kiss always makes me giddy. And don't worry about everyone yelling about doing Eden Prime earlier. Javik is fine and he has great lines, but the game is not ruined if you wait to recruit him. I almost always wait for the virmire survivor to return to do it too. Edit: I forgot that I wanted to add that even if you didn't romance Kaidan in me1, he will confess that he has feelings for FemShep if you haven't locked in a me3 romance yet. Maleshep he also makes a move, but the convo is quite different. After me1 where merely talking to a potential li made them think Shep was interested, it seemed like bioware overcorrected for the rest of the trilogy. I feel like with most of the love interests it's like pulling teeth to even get them to consider a relationship. I really like that Kaidan is one of the only ones brave enough to put himself out there first. Starting a romance with him in me3 leads to slightly different dialogue in some places too. I recommend giving it a try on a subsequent playthrough!
It's not the only one! Hackett's line about the Crucible is different too. And Javik usually says something like "you feel anxiety and distress because Reapers are winning" at 55:09. I have NEVER heard these versions during 20+ playthroughs because obviously we always rush Eden Prime to get more content with Prothy)
I’m really interested in hearing if Kayden has any unique dialogue. I haven’t seen anyone bring him back to Eden prime. I have to say I can’t Believe Eden prime and the leviathan DLC were not part of the main game. They seem so Intrachol to the story
Love seeing the regular use of Sabotage to deal with turrets. So many actual plays of the trilogy, you see people picking Vanguards and struggling with the turrets (because turrets are designed as a hard counter to Vanguards charging around), but as an Infiltrator fan, seeing them wreck their own allies is so much fun.
been enjoying watching your playthroughs. obviously now, you realize why everyone was bugging you about doing Eden Prime. ngl, a ton of very interesting conversations, interactions, have been missed without having Javik as a squad mate earlier. would definitely recommend either playing through again and getting Javik earlier, or watching the missed dialogue and stuff via youtube. Javik is probably my favorite squad mate. Oh, and imo, Javik is a 100% must take squad mate for Thessia.
Just a heads up: The developers give us access to the Leviathan DLC pretty early on, but some of the dialogue in it assumes that we've already done Thessia first. Doing Leviathan before Thessia won't really hurt your playthrough, though. You'll just have moments where characters act like they've experienced certain things before, even though they haven't yet. But it's your playthrough, so do whatever you want, when you want. I'm just here for the ride. 😊

Never forget that EA locked Javik behind a code in physical copies of the game - and sold him separately for five dollars. This was to get five dollars from every used copy of the game. Absolute evil. Thank goodness he's in the legendary edition by default.

I now realize that I misunderstood the Mass Effect series. It is not a tragedy about the cruelties intelligent species inflict upon one another and the resulting galaxy wide genocide. It is a slow burn romance simulator.
Is Basic heading out to an awards red carpet event afterwards? Eden Prime: first ever mission in Mass Effect "Where is it again? I can't find it." Basic never fails to bring the laughs. There is something very symmetrical about waiting to do Eden Prime until you have the OG squad mate back. Good call, totally intentional of course. The long years of yearning are finally over, and we all feel it for you.
It is a bit of a ways off and I know you want to take Kaiden with you everywhere but I strongly recommend you take Javik with you when you go to Thessia.

There is something very symmetrical about waiting to do Eden Prime until you have the OG squad mate back. Good call, totally intentional of course.

@inquisitive6786 That defeats the purpose of a blind playthrough. Things will be missed on a first go round. It's not the end of the world. And no, you don't know for sure that a streamer does not play the game again on their own time. If you want a playthrough to be done exactly to your specifications then play the game yourself.

Without spoiling to much. Keep in mind about the A.I. war the protheans had (and nearly went extinct), like other species too. There is a reason why the reapers are doing what they are doing. Have fun playing this masterpiece of a game!
It's an interesting twist that Liara finds out that her idolized Protheans were essentially fascists.
