The flirty scene with Kaidan is a wonderful example of how much he's grown in the past three years. In the first game, he was much more reserved and cautious. Here, we see that he's assertive and direct. Just casually saying he'd like to practice flirting with Shepard right there in the middle of the crew quarters where anyone could hear him. I just love him so much.
I just have to say I LOOOOVE the flashbacks. Way to go Taylor! And lol, I always have the same reaction to Jacob when he says the Normandy is Shepard's real love. It's like, hellooo, Kaidan is standing right there, man. I'm with you, they retire to the orchard and James takes over the Normandy. Another great episode!

Everyone keeps saying to send Jacob into the vents because "he volunteered." That's giving him what he wants. I say take him with you on the long walk, with Miranda holding the bubble, and the proper squadmate (Mordin, Tali, Kasumi, Zaeed, or Morinth), so that he gets carried away by seeker swarms. Then: (1) you get to hear him scream has he is carried away; (2) he is just MIA, not dead--until later when he dies _by your hand_ when you destroy/disable the base, rather than dying to a random collector rocket; (3) you saddle Miranda with the responsibility for his loss, since she was so convinced "any biotic could handle it."
It seems equally nuts that if you play as anything other than soldier or infiltrator (the only classes that can specialise in sniper rifles in ME1 and use sniper rifles from the beginning of ME2) that you actually get the option to choose to shoot the bottle. I always miss when not playing one of those two classes, because those other versions of Shepard shouldn't even get the option to hit; as if a mage or cleric would be better at using a bow than an archer rogue.
1:17:50 And this is why Jacob gets the volunteer job in the Collector base in ME2 in every future reruns so I don't have to hear his second guessing of my interests anymore in ME3.

I always leave Kaidan for last when I going to debrief and sruff like that (just like I always leave my fave food for last) so, on my first playthrough, I still hadnt done the Apollo date and hadnt locked Kaidan's romance and had to turn down Liara (whom I thought I hadn't flirted with). People always complain about how easy is to romance Kaidan unknowingly, but I think it's even worse with Liara 😅😅😅 I'm stupid and I don't know how, but I had never realized that Dr.Archer unalived himself with the Renegade option and I always chose it because I thought he deserved to worry a bit. Now I feel terrible 😢 Never again... That last scene with Kaidan is super cute (well, I find everything he does super cute) and I love how thoughtful he is and how he's always open to re-evaluate his opinions. He's just perfect! So you were saying you wish it wasn't obvious which dialogue choice was Paragon vs Renegade. I'm glad it is because the 3-4 words don't give enough information as to what Shepard is going to say. And some Renegades are very renegade such as getting Archer to off himself.
Tactus was voiced by DC Douglas (he also voiced Legion and misc. geth) and Garrus is voiced by Brandon Keener, so different actors. They do sound very similar though!
The Benezia flashback had me ROLLING 🤣 the way the game zooms into her bazookas as she’s literally dying 💀💀 If you haven’t locked in with Traynor, this lady just straight up walks into the shower and starts stripping, it’s so abrupt 🤣

Shepard is so popular. Sheeeesh. I love all of the little hang out sessions in this game though. Some are short, but so was the development time... I think the reason why nothing can happen with Zaeed is the fact that the DLC characters from ME2 kinda got shafted. There was no real dialog with them outside of their loyalty missions. A crying shame IMO. I'd love to explore a Kasumi romance. The shock on your face with the Archer interaction. Good for him. Fuck him lol. I've seen a glitch where the gun doesn't actually show, and I'm glad it didn't happen this time haha. Idk if I've seen Kaidan in the crew quarters before. These are the games that keep on giving. Fun fact, jacob getting with brynn happens even if you romance him in 2 One of the main reasons I dislike him, not that I ever would romance him in the first place. In 2 sure hes kinda basic and every suggestion he gives ends up being bad advice (besides volunteering for the vent...from a certain point of view), but that's whatever just makes him uninteresting. Him being the only squadmate that just cheats no matter what on the other hand... To the vents I say! Actually never seen that Archer scene, that is...Well, there is a surprisingly high amount of people you can cause (or convince) to shoot themselves in these games. There's literally like 10 different people that can potentially do that because of Shep. It's a little concerning

I TRULY believe that if people played the series blindly in today's day and age, a lot of these VS (especially Kaidan) haters would be a LOT more appreciative of a character that doesn't blindly follow the MC into joining an organization like Cerberus! I did Project Overlord and Jack's loyalty mission like RIGHT after Horizon and needed no further justification as to why they would refuse to join. Also Kaidan is literally green flag husband material and I SWOOOOOOOOON so hard over him in ME3 hehehe 😍
💯% agree with everything you've said here. The first time I played it, years ago, I was so angry that bioware made me work with Cerberus 😂, and seeing Kaiden like that on Horizon I was just so upset. This game manages to get you thoroughly invested in the story and your decisions and it's why imo it's the best game ever. I always play as a sniper girl. Therefore I CANNOT purposely miss that shot with Garrus. He’s a big boy, he’ll be fine lol.
